At Your Service Towing

Crooks, plain and simple!
I was parked in the pay lot on McMillan Ave next to Thai Express. I had a timer on my cell phone set so I know there was still time left on the meter because I had given myself five additional minutes to get back to the meter. (I was literally next door to the lot in Thai Express a 1 minute walk, max.) The tow truck driver was not hooked on to my car while I was walking over to put more money in the meter. Then he saw me coming and he immediately moved as fast as possible to latch on to my car so that he’d have it connected by the time I got there. I began to tell him that the meter was not expired, but by the time were were done arguing it of course was, which he pointed out as if to prove that he was in the right. Then he claimed that he had video of the entire procedure which proved he was in the right. When I asked to view the video, he wouldn’t show it. He instead said that I could pay him $ 50 on the spot, or if I kept asking to view the video he’d tow it to their lot and then they’d charge me $ 108. When I continued to argue, he started to get into the truck. I’m sure they would have never shown me the video anyways… if it ever even existed. I was forced to make a $ 50 ransom payment to get my car back.

My car was having trouble yesterday and I needed to have it towed to the dealer for repair. At Your Service was professional, friendly, and answered all my questions. The price seemed fair for a towing from Clifton to Norwood at $ 80, and they were at my house within 15 – 20 minutes. I have no complaints and would recommend them to others in similar situations.

Well needless to say no one likes having their car towed. On some bad advice I parked with friends in what I know now is a private lot. Came out at 230 am on a cold Friday night to see that my car was gone. Of course everyone else’s car was there. Unfortunatley there was no room in their cars to take me and my girl-​friend home.
Being stranded in a bad part of Clifton with just my girlfriend and a then dead phone since of course my charger was in the car– was not fun. I’m glad I had been parked near a police sub station.
Friday night ruined and out an extra $ 108.
Additionally I was curious how they towed my car since it’s front tow only when I noticed paint scraped off the side of my door where they broke into my vehicle to put it in neutral to steal my vehicle. I’m sure it’s too late now to file a complaint or hold them responsible. Jerks my car was brand new and I paid for it myself. Now I have to have the paint fixed thank you so so much I love paying you AND the body shop.
I guess price could have been worse. The employees seem nice enough… For people who leave young women stranded in bad parts of town, and steal their vehicles illegally.

Last night in the mini «snowpocalype,» my car skid on an icy patch, turned 270 degrees, and the back driver’s side tire slammed into a curb. It was no longer parallel with the road. After going a hundred feet, I realized driving home was not a safe option. I called my insurance agent and they gave me 4 numbers of tow companies to call. At Your Service was one of them.
I called all 4, was told by each of them that there was an hour wait, so I called back the one who had sounded the friendliest. I’m not sure anymore that that was the right choice.
I was charged $ 200 to go 15 miles — twice as much as it should be! — the premium supposedly due to the bad weather and «plenty of other people who need our help.» He claimed it would take 2 hours to get me where I wanted to go. In reality it ended up taking 45 minutes.
But by the time I called to get other estimates ($ 135) there would have been an additional hour wait, so I stuck with At Your Service because I was freezing and it was getting dark.
The driver Mike was VERY nice — if you call, ask to speak with him. He took good care of me and my car, and he’s the reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1. I do not believe I would have been charged $ 200 if he had answered my call.
So I was pleased with the service itself, just not the «friendly» guy who ripped me off on a bad day and was rude to me to boot. I’m sure he was having a busy day and was very stressed and tired, but he wasn’t the only one, and I would have appreciated some compassion (and fair pricing) after what had happened.
