Comfortable and hospitable place to meet friends for a beer and a taco. The owner is very pleasant and I love the bar made of tailgates. I hope they expand their hours soon to serve morning coffee.

I recently attended Angst Coffeehouse & Pub with a group of five others to check the place out. I’ve known the owner as an acquaintance for years and when I heard he was opening for business I figured my group and I could stop in. It was around 7PM on a Tuesday night and the place was pretty empty, but had some nice tunes going. The espresso machine had broken a few days prior, so espresso drinks weren’t available. I ended up with a regular coffee, and some tacos. And the tacos were the bomb! The owner showed me the park being built out back… a «biergarten» of sorts which looks like it will be a great space when its done. The interior, good jams, incredible tacos and potential add up to four stars for me. I’ll pay another visit when the space adds espresso drinks back, and the biergarten is running.

Growing up we spent many nights sitting at Angst Coffehouse, playing board games, reading books, watching poetry come alive, and listening to some great music played by live DJs. The owners, Ron and Nicole, were gracious hosts, and turned into great friends. So when I heard they were re-opening after an 18 year hiatus, I was pumped. The new space, on Gilbert Ave, is a much larger and more open space than it’s predecessor. Couches, large backyard, and cool décor make up this inviting space. Their menu consists of tacos, quesadillas, beer, and of course coffee. Ron and Nicole still run the roost, and remember everyone like it was yesterday we last saw each other. Stop by, have a brew(your choice beer or coffee) and enjoy this creative and fun spot!

I love this place already! They offer tacos — pork, tomatoes, onions, cilantro on a corn tortilla — either ‘cheesy’ or ‘not cheesy.’ These are the kind of tacos I grew up with in Southern California and it turns out that’s where the owners are originally from! Personally, the food they serve is perfect for me, but it may not suit everyone’s tastes. I have to be gluten free(celiac), so I am able to eat safely and without worry here. The feel of the place is casual with a relaxed feel. Ron(the owner) was very welcoming and wants to help the Walnut Hills community grow. It’s so great to see in practice and hear it being talked about. I’ll be coming back again and again!

Angst is so awesome, I went there twice in a day. The décor is bright and inviting, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The huge windows let in a lot of natural light, which makes it a great place to study or get some work done. It’s also the perfect place to meet up with friends. It’s a newer place, so they’re in the midst of growth, mainly focusing on building a sense of community. I have a feeling there are going to be some really great events here in the future. There’s a back patio area, as well, though I didn’t get to see it, but was told it’s nice. Bonus: Fireside Pizza is right around the corner, which has a similar kind of community-building vibe about it. Right now, tacos and beer are kind of Angst’s thing. They had a bunch of local beers on tap. I had a quesadilla and a sarsparilla, and it really hit the spot while I was grading papers. They also had a pineapple punch the night I was there, and it was delicious. Oh, and almost forgot, coffeehouse, duh, they serve coffee. I believe they are currently in cahoots with La Terza. I love how they have mini discs that you can browse through and play. Gives it a real 90s vibe, which is a throwback to their previous location, which closed in the late 90s. I know a bunch of people who used to frequent Angst 1.0, and it’s awesome to finally see what they’ve been talking about for all these years. The ambiance of the place has already drawn me in, and I imagine this will become a favorite haunt pretty much instantly.
