I refuse to call the Tacquiza Cart a roach coach!
If you’ve ever been down to Tijuana (for food, not for partying) and enjoyed the corner taco stands, you know the tantalizing smell of adobada, the hand-​made tortilla bliss and the mouth-​watering first bite.
The Tacquiza Cart roams 3^rd and Orange Avenue in Chula Juana. Sometimes they’re present, sometimes not. I discovered them when my family and I were on our way to Tacos El Gordo. We knew instantly that the stand would be better (and cheaper) than Gordo.
A short woman takes your order and remarkably keeps track of what you’ve had. It’s not done in excel but on a 5-​cent composition notebook and can handle 10 customers at a time (impressive). Your order comes out quick and you have the freedom to load up on guacamole, cebolla [onion], cilantro and chile. Adobada is the best but the carne asada is pretty good too. A tiny radio at the end of the cart blasts the favorite nortenas, cumbias and banda. I promise your first bite will be orgasmic and you’ll find it hard to NOT stuff your face.
