Why do people not like this place?
I have been storing here since 2011. In multiple spaces. I’m in the navy and was on deployment when nfcu changed my debit card. I was contacted by the storage place asking for me to update my card. They were able to change my information via email which I really appreciated.
I have NEVER had an issue with this place. Just because you can’t pay your bills… doesn’t mean you should give the company bad reviews. That’s a personal problem, not a professional problem.

Very clean and secure storage facility. Reina and victor are very hopeful and nice. They always greet me with a smile. Storem self storage is awesome highly recommended.

I’ve been with SD Storage now for about 2 years. They’ve been great up until recently when I was having problems making my payment due to multiple larger bills (IE car registration, car repair, boat registration and insurance, etc) all being due close together. My mother who is out of state tried paying it with her debit card. They declined it saying they needed payment in the form of cash or cashier’s check/​money order because I was late. I explained the situation and asked if they could make an exception, that I wanted to get my account current and that this was the only way I could at this time. They still declined. I just don’t get what it matters what form of payment is used as long as it’s paid. The only answer they would give is «it’s our policy». Well my policy is that I will be done doing business with them and they can shove their policy up their ass.

This review is based on my experience yesterday with the two female staff members that could not have been more rude or unprofessional. I am new to the area and I do not know anyone down here so I had to hire a couple guys to help me move my stuff frim storage to our new place. I had been waiting for Cox to show up all day so my moving schedule was thrown completely off. We arrived at about 5:40 to clear out the unit, at least of the large hard to carry items. The place closes at 6. I walk up to the office after realizing we were going to be there past 6 to tell the staff about it. I get a snarky response for the larger of the two women like she had just opened the door to an «undesirable» and I ask if we are going to get locked inside. She turns to the other girl and say «handle this.» Seriously? Then the other one says «well this is our policy and Im gonna call my area manager who’s just going to tell you that you have to leave.» The bigger one chimes in again «you guys got here at 5:40 and blah blah blah.» At that point the attitude from them two was too thick for me to deal with so I went back to work. Finally one of them came out with the area manager on the phone who was kinder and accomodating. Got most of my stuff and Im headed back there today but I will not be using SD Storage again any time soon thanks to those two and I will not be recomending them to anyone. Take some attitude classes or at least a customer service class you two! Being a complete monster to a customer is not a good look!

I chose this place for 4 reasons:
1. Location (near parents’ house & very close to freeway exit)
2. Cleanliness (cement floors & metal dividers. Place looks fantastic!)
3. Got a deal the first 3 months at half price, even though the special was for only 2 months ½ off.
4. Access. Yes, although you can’t have access ²⁴⁄₇. The times are good and you don’t have to check in. You get a pin that’ll open and close the main gate. That may sound average, but some places you had to sign in at the office upon arrival & departure. What a pain! (YES! I checked out many places before choosing this one.)
Now, the price isn’t the cheapest, but reasonable and they’re always friendly and very helpful!
Not only are the facilities great, but they even try to remind you (give you a phone call –person to person, not a recorded message) that you’re ABOUT to pay a late fee if you don’t pay within a couple of hours… Yeah… a couple of hours isn’t much but given they could have easily let you pay a late fee and that it’s your responsibility to pay on time, I think it’s great!!! (and it also depends when and if they get around to your name on the list).
Or you can do an automatic payment on credit card, as I just did!!!
RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend getting a storage unit at the bottom. Upstairs may get warm.
AND close to entrance. I’ve heard my mom, who shares the storage space with me, that she’s seen people go in with lamps because it’s dark.
I have the perfect spot though, I have to say I lucked out! Close to the entrance, lots of natural light!
