Rock Star Gymnastics Academy

My daughter has been enrolled for six months now. She loves it the coaches are really good with the kids. She has improved so much since the beginning.

One of my best friend recommended this place and I love it the coaches are super nice and they care for the girls my Daugher love this place so much that we stay with them for 3 years also the girls in front desk are the best they have everything clean and prepare for each class

The staff here are inexperienced with special needs children and one of the instructors made my special needs daughter actually cry. I spoke with the manager that day. At no point, did she offer the opportunity to speak with the particular instructor OR EVEN OFFER AN APOLOGY or ANY UPDATES REGARDING FOLLOW-​UP DICUSSION WITH SAID STAFF. MEANING THEY DON’T GIVE A DAMN.

Front desk girl with long black and blue hair completely ignored me as I stood there for 5min right in front of her and continued on her personal phone call. So unprofessional! Thanks to her coworker who showed up to help me. My son liked the class but my first impression was not a good one. Gym needs a total make over!

I was very nervous to bring my daughter here based on previous reviews. One person stated that a coach pulled a child’s arm and I saw complaints about dirty floors. I wasn’t expecting much when I walked in.
My child developed very early cognitive skills but when it came to motor skills, our pediatrician informed us that its very typical for children to compensate for one another. After speaking with my husband we decided to enroll her in gymnastics. The only place that fit our schedule and was a reasonable drive so I signed her up for a free class.
We are in the 3 and under class that is a «parent and me» type class. There is one coach that helps the children warm up. They do a lot of fun activities and the majority of the children are very engaged. I have noticed that almost all of the parents are not very hands on and sit back while their child is in class. I try not to be the helicopter mom but I do interfere when I notice that my child may hurt herself or another child. For example, one of the warm ups consisted of them on supporting themselves on their hands and feet then kicking one leg at a time. I noticed that my daughter wasn’t facing the coach and was nearly close to kicking a child in the face so I stepped in to correct her positioning. Most of the parents were on their phones. After warm ups they are paired up with a classmate and an instructor to do the obstacle course. Some parents decide to step back from this and while others decide to engage. I tend to keep just a slight distance and walk nearby the course. When I see that the instructor needs a little help because the children get too excited and go a little ahead. This includes my child, I politely ask if she needs some assistance. They have all been very nice and polite and let me know how I can help out. I usually just help my daughter up a beam while they show her technique or grip onto my daughter’s hands when she is on the high horizontal bar.
As for the reviews stating that the place is dirty. I’ve never witnessed this place dirty or filthy. I have noticed some chalk powder on the horizontal bars but that’s to be expected! It’s a gym! The girls competitive gymnastics team uses the chalk powder to help them grip and they are usually there working on form while we are there.
i am very glad I went against the reviews. I drive 20 minutes one way just to take my child here. I sent my husband videos of her and he was so shocked on how much our child had progressed in motor skills. He has now signed her up for lessons twice a week and continue to see our daughter’s improvement.

This happen a bit of time ago and has been upsetting me to the point of writing this review. My wife told me that my older daughter needed an afterschool activity. I was very please that she wanted to take on the challenge. At the same time her sister wanted to join the academy. My wife asked the counter person if the hand children with mild autism in the academy. My wife was told that they had quite a few. Two weeks later as the kids change from one activity to the other my wife hears my daughter running away from a coach and crying. The coach (the owner) caught up to her and was holding her to the point that the thumb, index, middle and ring fingers made bruising marks on her upper arms. If management wants I have about five pictures of the bruising. I contacted Chula Vista Police and question her about the incident. Way to go coach my daughter hates gym now. We encounter the coach in Imperial Beach and my wife went off on her and she look like she wanted to play possum.

My daughter has been in gymnastics for 5 years. We have wasted a lot of money with SD gymnastics and we tried Toby wells for a few months. I have to say, I was hesitant about this place due to the reviews. but let me tell you, this place is a diamond in the rough (no offense, not the greatest location)!! We LOVE it! It’s a little small but they make use of everything they have and everything runs smoothly. Not to mention the price! I am paying half of what I paid at SD and the coaches here are far more attentive! The front desk staff is so nice and always willing to help! Love this place and most important, my daughter is very happy here!

I used to love the gym but lately it has been looking very unprofessional. The coaches aren’t being strict with the girls and it looks like a circus. Front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. Coaches are very nice, but aren’t strict with the kiddos. I feel like im wasting my money.

there is a specific trainer in mind, i think her name was tiffany that is really rude and impatient with the children. ive seen her yank my daughters arm before. my daughter went here for maybe 1.5 years with little to no progress. there was 1 move she needed help with (bridge kickovers) in order to progress to level 2. 1 move !! but instead of really trying to help her succeed and move up, theyll tell you to just hire someone for private lessons. hm, no thanks. taking my money elsewhere. the other trainers are nice, front desk is decent but impersonable.

I was so excited to bring my little one here. Was very disappointed at how the instructors were not paying attention to him knowing it was his first class. There were only two other children in his group. He needed more guidance but instead was ignored. To top it off the place is absolutely FILTHY! They ask that the children be barefoot but the mats and floors haven’t been swept or vacuumed in months! It’s very obvious due to the amount of dust, dirt and trash that is built up everywhere. Bathrooms were dirty and smelled like urine. Just straight gross. Not bringing my kid back or recommending this place to anyone.

My daughters have been attending rockstar since 2011. The classes are affordable, and the schedules are super flexible with lots of class times. If you cant make it to a class they offer makeup sessions, nothing fits in your schedule you will get a refund for that particular class. If there is a holiday on the day of your class you don’t get charged. The coaches are great Miss Lonna is a pro and fantastic with kids!!! I totally reccomend.

Love Rockstar gymnastics academy! My daughter has been going here since she was 18 months old. She loves it. The girls that work here are so wonderful and very good with the kids. My daughter has learned so much and this gym has really made an impact on her. They also have great little events that all ages get to participate in! Even the little tots get to perform at small events! The price is great. And the front desk is always very nice and understanding when I have to bring my daughter for make-​up classes. Thanks Rockstar for showing my girl what fun is. Also, showing her how to safely do the crazy things she does at home without hurting herself =] I would give a 5 star if the parking was a little better. I recommend to everyone!

Unprofessional, unsafe, and disorganized. Many of the instructors have no gymnastics experience. The gym is set up where you can tumble straight into the beams, and the coaches are never timely when it comes to figuring out which apparatuses are next. Unimpressed to say the least.

Awesome place for the kids. Started taking my 11 year old daughter here about 3 months ago and she has fallen in love with it. The price is affordable to just about anyone. This is great for kids to see whether or not they would like to get into gymnastics without the parents having to shell out a bunch of money. For only 45mins to 1 hour a week, it is well worth the time. The other lady that left the ONLY bad review is obviously snobbish. Most of her reviews of other locations reveal that same snobbish Coronado attitude. Don’t pay attention to it. This place is great, all of the employees are wonderful and helpful, and it is a wonderful experience for any kids that want to try it out. Its a great opportunity for parents to get their kids out of the house and have some exercise. My 4 year old son is now begging to go also! One other thing, they will more than likely even allow you to have your child or children try it out for free for 1 or 2 classes. Try it out… its great.

ROCKSTAR IS AWESOME!!! My daughters have been coming here for 2yrs. ever since they we’re located on Palm in I.B. In fact my pastor’s wife recommended Rockstar because her kids attended here as well. And I have referred a family there and have heard any complaints yet… I can understand that this is a semi-​new business so the equipment is «up-​to-​date» but I can SEE in the time that we’ve been with them, that will change soon!

After a few weeks of looking around for options into my daughter’s new interest I came across Rock Star Gymnastics. I’m so glad I did because a couple classes in and my daughter loves it! She says her instructor is a little strict which I personally love because they’re not just lettingme waste money while the kids goof around for an hour. Speaking of money, this is also the most economical place I found. It’s kind of small but there seems to be just enough space for everyone to watch their kids.

Last year the gym was a bit crammed, but now with the remodelling, it is much more comfortable, it is clean and even has a sanitizer dispenser, clean bathroom. Ms. Lonna is Great, she has a great personality and is always moving along with teaching the girls how to do their routine from teaching the basic to professional. From the first day that I signed up my daughter, I have been pleased. Everyone is well organized, my daughter has been a participant since last December 2010 and loves it! She is a cheerleader as well and bringing her to Rockstar gymnastics has taught her how to do her cartwheels and roundoffs. With only having 45 minutes to cram all the exercise in the trainers all know how manage the time. We plan to be a part of Rockstar gmnastics for a long time, especially now that my other daughter who’s 3 now wants to try gmanstics out too! I have taken my niece here on several occasions. All of the staff seemed very helpful and caring. My niece loves this place and she has a lot of friends that also attend. I dont quite agree with the other rating, all of the parents I spoke too seemed to enjoy it as well. Most of the parents sit in the back and chat amongst each other which makes it comfortable.

I have 2 daughters and a Niece that go to this gym. Ages 8,9 and 14. Levels 2 and 3. This has been a great confidence booster for them. If it was up to them they would go 7 days a week 4hrs. a day. The work out they go through is great and they don’t seem to notice until it’s over. The coaches are amazing with the girls. They always go above and beyond all our expectation. I would recommend this gym to anyone thinking about putting there kids into an extracurricular activity. This was just what i was looking for and i didn’t even know it. Thanks RockStar keep up the good work!

Unclean, unprofessional. Our children don’t need to associate excelling at anything with being a so-​called Rock Star. Several other moms agree.
I was sent an «anonymous» survey regarding changes to which I received a response. Hmm… guess that survey wasn’t so anonymous after all.
Miss Lonna is a pleasure but other staff, not so much. While I say I do like Miss Lonna, I don’t enjoy paying for the instructor to spend most of the class working with one child who isn’t ready and should not be in a group setting.
I can’t justify taking my children here. The business has changed its name & moved more than once so I would do my homework before visiting. There are other gymnastics facilities with much better ratings and I would research all options before attending.
