Missions at Sunbow Apartments

Yes the new management has done some nice things to the place. They are doing more events for residents. And improving the grounds. But that doesn’t make everything that happened with old management go away. We are getting ready to move out a the end of this month and it couldn’t come sooner. We were bated with a fake apartment and then we were told 2 weeks prior to moving we couldn’t have that apartment (the lease was already singed). Within a few months of living here we noticed cops were here every weekend. And then one weekend cops and swat showed up to do a drug raid on an apartment. This is NOT a SECURE place to live!!! One gate is always left open when they should be closed at night. I have had a peeping tom issue since I moved in and the leasing office/​management hasn’t done a thing about it!!! I was even told by a female staff member to be grateful someone thinks I’m pretty. The «security» they have is useless. We had a man try to force himself into our apartment. We called security we were told they were on there way along with the police. Needless to say no one come. The lady that lived in our apartment broke in a few days before I moved in and the leasing office made me a ware of this. So day one I didn’t feel safe. There also only a hand full of guest parking so of your fine with no visitors great other wise this place isn’t for you. If all of these things didn’t happen I would of loved this apartment complex.

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! I have lived here for 10 months and the only positive thing I can say is that the area around the main office looks nice. (I think that maybe the only place they clean.) If you walk around the complex there are piles of dog feces everywhere in the grass. The walls are so thin I hear my neighbor come out of there place slam the door then proceed to yell at their dog to go #2. I have finally found out what the people above me do for a living… They bread rhinos. The small crash they have living up there can be heard at all hours running around stomping ever little footstep they take. Parking is horrendous if I have anyone come over they have to park at the shopping center down the street and I have to go pick them up. If you have more then 2 people with you at the pool they complain and kick you out. I have seen them kick out a little boy’s birthday party they were having. I have been through 2 managers in my short time here and they have only gotten worse! My motorcycle was stollen from my parking space when the gates were «closed» and I went in and asked if they had any security and they just flat out told me no and sent me packing with not even I’m sorry to hear. Oh maintenance they will send you random emails saying that they have come in and fixed something and asked you to take a survey on what they did when they have not fixed anything. This has happened 5 times and every time it was a «computer error». Please if you read these reviews do not live here!!!

Just moved out a few weeks ago, and not only did they take our entire deposit of $ 400 — they’re even billing us another $ 47! Seriously?! If you knew me and even saw how we live, our apartment (even Management mentioned in our walk-​through) that we kept our place immaculate! I’ve emailed their headquarters and have called 3 times, and I have yet to get a response. Really, from beginning to end, this Management company, RVM Corp runs their business to rob people financially. from the towing of your car, because (Oops! Sorry, we forgot to give you a resident sticker.) to the deposit, and at the end of the day they don’t even use those funds to keep up the community. The SAME newsletter that came out when we first moved-​in about picking up your dog feces was still the same newsletter when we moved-​out! Dog owners didn’t care, because their was never any repercussions. Folks again, look elsewhere!

Let the record show that I am not a go-​with-​the-​flow, easy-​to please person. I’m cranky and brings bug me. Ruminate in that as you read my review (s).
I lived here for over two years, and have reviewed Missions at Sunbow in the past. (They’re fairly in-​depth reviews and still pretty applicable. I vote you check them out as they’re WAY more accurate than some of these other reviews I’ve been peeping.) Just a few weeks ago we terminated our lease and moved to the east coast, and I kid you not, I laid in the middle of our empty living room and cried for like five straight minutes. All melodrama aside, I LOVED our apartment.
We had a one bedroom, which admittedly we were beginning to outgrow it (just my boyfriend, our chihuahua, and myself). However, had we not needed to move out so unexpectedly, we definitely would have discussed staying at this location whenever we’d need to upgrade to a two bedroom. Likewise, if we ever find ourselves back in SD, we’ll absolutely be looking into returning.
It’s more than the apartment, though. I was also pretty down with everything else that came with it.
I feel nice things about the grounds. The new management has actually been a breath of fresh air. Got weird sort of creepy vibes from the last manager man.
George and Nick are great. No creepiness detected at all. Thumbs up! They’re so helpful with anything we ever needed. Ultra friendly. VERY community oriented, which is nice. With big ass complexes like this, it’s cool when the front office knows your name. Take another thumbs up.
Moving out was a dream. I mean it wasn’t. I didn’t want to do it. But all things considered, it went beautifully. Nick was the best and extremely informative. I’m running out of thumbs.
I swear they aren’t paying me for this. Just to prove it, the following are my minor complaints and how I dealt with them:
Yes, there sometimes is the occasional whiff of dog pee when you walk around the corner or by particularly popular trees. Big deal. You live in a dog friendly community. That’s awesome and hard to find. Easy trade off.
Parking is not 100. We only had the one spot, choosing not to pay for a second. Medical center is usually god awful after about ⁶⁄₇ PM or so. The walk back ain’t bad though. Keeps ya limber!
Here’s the deal with towing. Park in your spot. The end. We’ve had one friend towed, and it involved leasing office parking and was totally understandable and our fault.
Our neighbors had the world’s most obnoxious flashing Christmas lights for all of three weeks.

I had to break my lease and move out because my apartment had bugs!!! I only lived there about 4 months, and they kept more than half my deposit. Renters beware. Also the hot tub is almost always closed

I moved in four months ago (early July). I have really had nothing but a good experience. I work in Coronado and its a breezy commute, minus the traffic getting on and off the 805. My apartment has a totally magical view of IB and the Coronado Strand and I can watch the sun settin’ on the Pacific Ocean daily… AAAAmazing! I chose this apartment for the quiet atmosphere… and mostly the spectacular view. My parking space is tiny (true), but I have a pretty little car anyway. I have seen the office staff changing since I moved here and the new people seem much more upbeat and «with-​it» than the ones they’re replacing. I guess there is a new manager and some of the residents are unhappy and instigating a little bit of too-​much-​time-​on-​my-​hands drama. I was approached by a woman in the parking lot who wanted me to join the band-​wagon against the staff… but I have no issues. The people here take care of me, they know whats up and they stand when I walk in and do there thing with a smile. I «aint» a hater, and I know what its like to be the target of bummer energy… so I thought I would give a shout out to the new staff and say keep up the good work… some of us are still super happy! Keep smiling and keep that sun settin’ over my patio!

I have been living on Missions at Sunbow for over 5 months. So far my experience has been good. Staff is really friendly and they always respond promptly to any issues.

I used to like certain things here. The new office staff lacks in the ability to provide proper customer service. The maintenance staff on the other hand has been great.
The parking is atrocious, make sure you have money to rent an additional spot for A guest. If You have a unit with a garage attached you will be one if the lucky ones who will get an additional parking spot. Other than that you have one spot and if you want any additional spots you have to pay for it. Guest parking is limited. During the day (until 7 pm) there are only 4 or 5 spots for guests in front of the office; that increases after 7 pm by another 5 or 6 spaces on the other side. Other than that you have to park down the street, on the street. (If there are spaces available. We have parked our car down the street in front of the local grocery store because of visiting family.
I walked into the office one day and the girl in the office was on her cell phone and told me to «wait one minute».
This is a gated community which is supposed to have no solicitation on site. One of my selling points when we moved in. The secured gates are open during the day which means solicitors walk right in to knock on doors or plaster the apartments or cars with solicitations. Many times one or more of the gates are not in working condition.
A few months ago there was a raid on one of the apartments in my building. Police arrested the suspects but it took MONTHS for this to occur. The high traffic in my building made me leery to walk out of my door many times.
I am preparing to move due to military orders and had an appointment with their office for 3pm to do a pre-​inspection. I had called at 1to have them come early without receiving a return call as promised. No one showed up at my apartment at 3pm so I went to the office. Only to be told they would be right with me. A vendor walked into the office after 10 minutes and the new manager walked out of the office; looked at me but did not acknowledge me; turned to the vendor and began a conversation.
I finally got someone to answer the phone in the office and they had someone in my apartment just after 4pm.
For what they charge you should expect more.
They will charge you for stain removal on old carpets, along the edges, after you live here a year. (Most places, that is normal wear and tear) Don’t ever touch your walls because they will charge you for painting to cover the finger prints. (Just wash the walls)
I asked for an estimate for the preliminary estimate (paint and carpet) to be sent to me via email and she called me. I told her that it would be cheaper to paint it myself with a can of touch up paint. She said that she could give me the information to buy the paint but it has to be professionally painted. When I stated that they could just charge what they are going to charge for painting and that I was done arguing with her, attempted to tell me their policies.
I also asked if she remembered that I had requested the info via email. I informed her that her performance would be noted from the time she started. (Cell phone girl) She stated that she would send it «right now.» Took her hours to send me a small paragraph which did not include all of the estimates I requested.
Update: The paint that this site uses is only sold in 5 gallon drums; I checked. If you buy anything else it will not match exactly and they will charge you for painting anyway. I will wash the walls.

If you are thinking about living here you should know that the office staff here are unprofessional, and lie to you. When we first moved in we were given a unit that was not move in ready for us– but apparently it was for them although the unit needed a lot of repairs. We waited 2 months for our unit to be ready — I expected more from this company but expectations were not met. Also, you are assigned only one parking spot & the second one will cost you $ 60-​$ 80 dollars a month. And when you are ready to leave this shit hole they will undoubtedly try to screw you out of your deposit by asking you to pay for partial painting if you hung up anything on the walls which will run you $ 150.00 & they want you to get the carpets steam cleaned by a professional & they will ask you to provide proof– receipt. Lastly I want to talk about the amenities — the gym contains broken equipment that are usually out of order, the hot tub is often out of service. And the gates almost never work– I had a creepy man look through my bathroom window @ 11:30pm one night.

For the price you can get better, it’s really bad customer service here don’t let them fool you do your research.

Lived here for 6 months and cannot wait to get out. When we moved in there was a huge urine stain in the living room. I cannot believe they expected us to move in with urine all over. I hounded them for a week before they had a big section of the carpet replaced. You can tell they had replaced other sections a lot all the time in our apartment. I swear the model apartment has granite installed but not in the real apartments.
The gates are never closed and always broken. So much for a safe community. There have been multiple robberies and attempted robberies within the last month that I know of but management does not warn the tenants.
Young children as young as five years old are always in the workout room and on the machines even though the rules are 18+ only. I wouldn’t mind if they were as young as 14 but 5 is too young and unsupervised.
People do not pick up after their dogs even with all the dog baggy areas and garbage cans everywhere.
Overall it is cheap but does not feel safe anymore. The staff is excellent but there is only so much they can do while trying to handle the unruly tenants. No complaints with my immediate neighbors but others have told me about their nightmare neighbors and lots of 2am dog barking.
If you are looking for quality and safety best to look elsewhere!

Unfortunately do to circumstances out of my control I’m moving earlier than planned. BUT during this unfortunate process I must give praise to Julian who works here. He has been very informative and helpful during this transition and I am very appreciative. Although no apartment complex is perfect I am happy to have been apart of this community. Great staff and beautiful calm complex.

What ever you do, please do not deal with Julian he is useless. He is rude!!! Management is even worse, they are not there to help the residence they really don’t give a damn. As long you don’t have to talk to any management the apartment is good.

The pool is closed until further notice. What does that mean! I pay over 1500 for my pool to be broken? ?? Wow these apts suck!

Let me start off by saying I am not a current resident of these apartments.
Me and my fiancé went in for a tour (with an appointment previously made) on Sunday January 18 2014. I had read this reviews before going in, and wondered why they were really bad. But still decided to look at them.
We were looking forward to see the 1 bedroom 1 bath floorplan. At the time they did not had any available so we saw the two bedroom two bath.
First impression entering the apartment was «amazing apartments! They are just gorgeous.» we were practically sold!
The girl who gave us the tour (Andrea) said they would have a 1 bed 1 bath available for tour on Wednesday if we wanted to come and see.
Since they close at 6pm on wednesday we were not going to be able to make it since their last tour is at 5pm. I spoke with her and we agreed on coming Thursday since they close at 7pm, and their last tour is at 6pm. (at least thats what she told me).
Here comes thursday, 15 min before 6pm. My fiancé, my parents, my sister and I were excited to see the apartment. Andrea wasn’t there, which i didn’t mind, we just wanted to see the apartment.
When we approach one of the representitives that was on duty, she was really rude when we said we had an appointment for a tour at 6pm. She said there was no way possible that that could happend since their last tours is at 5pm.
I explained to them what i had agreed on with Andrea, and they were careless of the miss information that was giving to me. The representative went and asked a supervisor (which was right infront of us, and obviously knew what was happening) to see if she knew something about it, and the supervisor never stood up and apologize for the inconvenience.
She was just directing the conversation to her representative saying there was no way we were getting a tour (keeping in mind it wasn’t even 6pm yet, and they close at 7pm). In my mind i was thinking «why would it bother them so much to give us the tour? is not like it was going to take us a whole hour».
They said it was against their policies, that it was dark already and for security reasons they were not allowed to tour after 5pm.
Again made me think, «isn’t sopposed to be a gated community? meaning it is safe?»
At the end of it all my fiancé was already mad and said it was a waste of our time.
And we left.
It is important to say we never got an apology from any of the staff.
Now we know why their reviews are bad.
Now we are looking forward to rent and another apartments close by, really spacious too and for less money. (Sunbow Villas) They got nicer staff.
I think it is really important not only to like the place where you want to spent time of your life in, but it is important, if you’re renting, that the staff of the facility is nice and respectful, to their future possible residents.

I want to be positive but I just can’t.
Apartment: just okay. It’s cheaply made but not a dump. Laminate. Basic oval tub. Standard fans with no lights. Better than some but not worth the price.
Community: Getting bad. Just a few months ago I saw a shift in community presence. The area seems to be going downhill. There’s a lot of turnover and the latest batch of tenants are loud, rude, and just not classy. There are kids unattended in places, out at all hours of the night playing music and yelling and partying. I’ve complained before and get no help. Lots of peoples’ pets make noise and nothing is some about it. Some even leave them out on patios all night. There are ALWAYS unknown non-​residents on the premises. There’s been a high amount of vandalism as well.
Location: convenient to freeways and 1 grocery store. That’s all. No restaurants or even delivery options (except pizza).
Amenities: pretty standard but you pay dearly for it. Hot tub and pool are nice but there have been sanitation issues off and on. Grill hasn’t worked since I moved in (³⁄₁₃). Movie theatre only available during office hours. No one uses it.
No one picks up after their dogs. It’s disgusting. I’ve stepped in shit at night a lot just walking my dog and cleaning up after him.
The «gated» community idea is a joke
You can reach over the handles and get in. Also, the gates are almost always broken.
Fitness center sound system malfunctions regularly and wakes me up with music blaring. I’m right by the gym. Equipment is pretty basic. Nice to have though.
Staff: ask questions. Don’t trust that they’ve been honest. They leave out pieces of information. They’ve been trained to do so.
My portfolio has been off several times. Once I had to prove I paid my pet deposit. Really?! Your system can’t be THAT bad. The staff is pretty friendly until you need something. Or have a complaint. They’re disorganized and their mistakes have resulted in peoples cars towed on multiple occasions.
Policies: if you’re not paid on the 1^st of ever month, don’t lease here. There’s a few if you pay past the 3^rd. I’m paid biweekly and I automatically assume a $ 60 increase to my rent JUST Bc of timing. It’s pretty sad. And god forbid anything happen. They send you to eviction if not paid in 5 days. Though they won’t tell you that. And you’ll have to pay their legal fees. Way to go, yo I take advantage of your tenants.
Overall: I can’t wait to leave in March. Looking for a new place already.
Don’t let the beautiful office and pool suck you in. There are better places for the price.

Moved in October 2012, the price for the space of the 2 bedroom we have, is reasonable and makes me want to stay. They pick up your trash at your door step every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. BUT, since the management has changed, it has not been a positive change. They «power wash» the stairs, which still look the same after they’re washed, and there have been crazy nasty stains outside of my door step since we moved in, which was obvious that they don’t really prepare the apartments before being sold.
They towed our car once, when we noticed it, they said they usually call residents before they are towed (we didn’t receive any calls about the car prior to the towing), and we had to pay about $ 160 to get our car back. There are visitors parking spots available, but they are always taken by a resident.
There are a lot of kids, which I don’t mind, but there are a lot who are not supervised around the pool area, and a lot of residents with visitors who are in the pool with regular clothes on, and the leasing office employees don’t say a word about it. Don’t get me wrong, having BBQ’s by the pool and people over is great, and haven’t had any problems.
They have a club house, but you are not allowed to use it before 6pm, because it’s connected to the Leasing Office, they don’t want to be bothered with any noise. So we haven’t been able to use it, because we prefer to celebrate a birthday in the day time.
There is always someone parked in the parking spot that we pay for monthly, and so it is obvious that there is no patrolling in the complex how they claim to have to make sure that the residents that rent out the parking spot are using their parking spot with their car or their visitors’ car.
The apartment is spacious, and has all the amenities that they describe as included. But don’t count on the cleanliness of it, because a lot of their «finishing touches» weren’t complete.

These apartments are much too expensive for what you get here. Yes the apartments are aesthetically pleasing but there are many flaws.
Fitness center– I don’t expect much from a «complex» fitness center but this one really leaves something to be desired…
The room is equipped with air conditioning but you are not allowed to turn it on so it is always hot and gross in there. The cardio machines barely function and are badly in need of servicing, the display readouts/​heart monitor don’t work and the ellipticals make so much noise I fear I may wake someone in a neighboring apartment or that the machine might fall apart. The problems with the fitness room really peeves me even though I know it is minor/​to be expected.
My 1 bedroom apartment literally has NO storage space just a closet for clothes, a closet outside with the hot water heater in it and kitchen cabinets. This forces me to spend money on storage «solutions»
I got a letter saying they were «beautifying» the complex a few months ago, all I see is more yellowing grass…
Recently they started a contest where you get money prizes if you refer people to rent apartments here. This reeks of desperation and is a real red flag in my mind that people should not rent here.

I am currently in the process of moving out of this apartment complex. Although the apartments are nice, management is extremely unprofessional and rude. They’ve towed my car for no reason and excepted me to foot the bill, they have made plans to inspect my apartment and asked me to be there, and then never showed up. I paid a pet deposit of $ 400 last December, and when I asked them if I could get it back they told me that they have no record of me paying a pet deposit. Well, where did my $ 400 go?! Parking is terrible, the parking spaces are extremely tight to the point you have to squeeze to get out of your car and lock it. I don’t mind kids at apartment complexes, but it is worth noting that there are many kids who live at this apartment complex that are extremely noisy all day. There are also many large dogs that are apparently «not allowed in the apartment complex» but that live here anyway. When I tried to adopt a large german shepherd after seeing many large german shepherds, huskies, and doberman pinschers living at this complex, they at first approved me for owning a pet and accepted my pet deposit, later that week they informed me that I cannot own a german shepherd and that if I do they will right away evict me and that they are watching my apartment to make sure that there are no large dogs in it. Oh, and there is no record of my pet deposit. This is a terrible place to live and I would not recommend it to my worst enemy.

After writing our deposit for Missions at Sunbow we tried repeatedly to get in contact with the agency. However the office phone line was disconnected. Being that this was highly unusual considering we ve only dealt with professional organizations we immediately called our bank and put a stop on the check. We finally got in contact with the apartment complex later when their phone mysteriously began to function again. Having read reviews online about how they have a habit of disappearing we decided to inform them that we were canceling our application within the time span allotted. Days later, a man from Missions at Sunbow called my cell phone. Immediately I was very confused by him from his aggressive nature. He out rightly asked why we canceled on living there, and I explained why. He said quote That is ridiculous. If you don t get down here today and pay your application fee I ll put this check through. At which time I put him on speaker phone so that my husband and friends could hear how this man was talking to me. I told him we were already told that we could mail the check. He said no, and kept repeating What time are you going to come down here today? I was just blown away after telling him I m pregnant and my husband in leaving for months on deployment we were told we could just mail the check. He told me that was no excuse and that he was going to put the check through. I told him there was a stop check ordered when we canceled to begin with so there was no reason to put it through. He said quote Yeah we ll see about that and hung up the phone. My husband, my two friends, and I were blown away by the complete disrespect and blatant harassment. We found a much better apartment complex thankfully, it’s Sunbow Villas. Very happy we decided not to go with this place. LISTEN TO THE OTHER REVIEWS AND DONT BE FOOLED.
