One word, AMAZING! Saved 4 hrs travel time, and a bunch of gas. Location is pretty small, hopefully they were busy, maybe from the social media blast. We ordered cheese rolls, potato balls, and empanadas. All were quality, and tasted DELICIOUS! Highly recommended!

The only reason I can’t give this a 5 is because I’ve had portos many times and their potato balls are so much tastier. Overall I’ve had their cubano which was huge for its price and it was really good!

This place is amazing. The pastries and potato balls taste just like Portos but better because I don’t have to drive all the way to LA to get my fix! Definitely going back for more!

So glad I found out about this place. Had the beef potato balls(the spicy chicken potato balls SOLDOUT) boo. but that’s the only bad thing. The staff is friendly, the food is delicious. I was with my god-daughter who LOVES Porto’s and she said the potato balls were better than Porto’s.Also had the guava cheese danishes… also delicious. After that, we were pretty full for under 10.00(FORTHEBOTHOFUS)

This place is going viral this week, I’ve been seeing foodie pics all week on my FB and felt compelled to try this fairly new place out. People were saying the pastelitos and potato balls are as good as legendary Portos in LA. I got the guava, guava and cream cheese, mango, cheese pastelitos and also the meat potato balls. Everything was delicious and exceeded my expectations. I plan to frequent this place often and will try the empanadas cuban sandwiches next time.

I never knew that this place existed until a few days ago, I saw some posts about this place from a couple friends enjoying some pastries from Los Pollos. When I found out there was a local Cuban bakery, I had to visit it soon. This place used to be a Filipino bakery not too long ago, but I have a feeling Los Pollos will stick around for a long time. At the time I went, they were serving guava, mango, and mango and cheese pastries. They also had some sort of cheese rolls. Also on display was empanadas of the Spicy chicken, regular chicken, and Spinach variety. First of all, I bought one of each and everything was excellent. I told the owner I’d be back again because the food was so good. I’m getting hungry writing this review. I want some more of those pastries. Los Polos has my weakness there, its all their food! They even have other food items that I didn’t mention yet such as Cuban sandwiches and rotisserie chicken. The owner and workers were friendly and were appreciative of the support. Go and check this place out!

I’m from Miami and after month of moving to San Diego I was craving some Cuban food. I gave this place four stars because they did not have a large variety of Cuban food. I wish there was a pan con bistec and the empanadas were not traditional Cuban empanadas but I ordered two papa rellenas and they were DELICIOUS

Mango pastry, guava cheese roll and cheese roll were scrumptious! I will definitely be back! I already told my friends and family about this place and it was my first visit!

Wow, just wow! Great prices and you don’t have to drive all the way to OC/LA to get cheese bread from Portos because these are just as good! $ 1 per cheese bread and the crust is flaky, the cheese is not overwhelming, it was nice and buttery and the sugar on top was the perfect addition. The guava pastry was equally good, with a nice sweetness. But the empanadas — oh my, these are priced only at $ 1.65 each and they are a good size with tons of meat. We chose the spicy chicken and the chicken was moist and it had a great spice. These are better than most empanadas that I’ve tried in SD. Service is friendly. Lots of other menu items to choose from(unfortunately they ran out of potato balls when we got there, but will be back again soon!)

I don’t know how long this place has been opened but just noticed it a few months ago. Prices are very fair! A pastelito is only .92, and I got a latte for $ 2 and a few cents. Can’t recall. Wish they opened earlier so I can get my AM coffee here, but they open at 10 :(will be coming here more often and glad CV has a Cuban bakery. The guy was very friendly and informative, which I assume is the owner. Thanks!

Yummy Cuban sandwiches. I liked the cubano better than the pan con lechon sandwich. The flavors of both sandwiches are good, but I feel like it’s still missing something. The pastries are good, but yes I will compare them to Porto’s. The crust was buttery, but not fluffy and flaky. It got kind of soggy. The service was really great.

Hmmm Its very strange how high the reviews are. I had the cubano sandwich, the pork was half dry chewy half soft tender, the cheese they use is creamy and the ham is ok. Definitely not reminiscent of the real cubanos in Miami. The chicken bowl is OK, the plantains in it are delicious the chicken was dry and tasteless. The black beans are pretty good and the rice was perfect. The cubano espresso is amazing and they have sugar in the raw. One of the best I’ve ever had. The empanadas weren’t impressive. The ham and cheese was bland. The spicy chicken was dry and the dough was just ok. The sweet pastries are truly amazing. This place should be a bakery not a restaurant. The salsas remind me of pace picante sauce… Overall It was OK. I’ll come back if I have nothing else available. I will definitely come back for the delicious pastries & espresso…

Been wanting a good Cuban sandwich for a while & this place definitely delivered. Sandwich was delicious. Potato ball tasty. Followed by a much tastier treat like the cheese roll & coconut pastry was an added bonus. Besides the place not having many areas to eat your food at, their friendly customer service & tasty food earns the well deserved 5-star rating. Will definitely be coming back to try out the rest of the menu.

This is a small restaurant and it’s a bit tucked away. But the sandwiches and pastelitos are really good. Also the ham and cheese empanadas are great and the spicy chicken empanadas very tasty. Overall a great experience, friendly staff. Will be back.

Great service, great food. We can’t wait to come back soon. The chicken was one of the best we’ve had and the empanadas and pastries were authentic and delicious.

Must say I was happy(giddy actually) to see this place while searching Unilocal for a new place to eat. The location is not the best and seating is not very comfortable; but since the closing of one of my personal favorite Cuban resturants in La Mesa I’d been on the hunt for a decent Ropa vieja, etc… My hubby went for the the Cuban bowl which was a bit bland, suggested a side of chicharon would have stepped it up a bit. I had the lechon sandwich, the bread was baked fresh and meat was tasty. My boys each choose empanadas. The meat could have used some potatoes peas and carrots, the ham and cheese were good but I was expecting cheddar cheese, only because that’s how I make my empanadas. Over all we liked it and will go back for more.

5 for food, 2 for service/eating area Los Pollos is the lost golden goose. They have incredible food here. But, being hidden in the corner of a strip mall with hardly any dining area and not staffed right, they’re treading water. The layout of this place isn’t meant for what they’re doing. They need to expand their location to allow ample area for a line and for people to sit down and enjoy this great food. I’m not talking fancy, just something that works. They’d have a long line out the door just like Las Cuatro Milpas if they moved to Barrio Logan. The empanadas came out in about 10 minutes. Spinach & cheese empanada was delicious. Luke warm with decadent rich cheese, perfect ratio of spinach to compliment being wrapped in flaky warm magic. The spicy chicken was very good with lots of chicken that was spicier than expected. Great heat, but a hair dry. Surprised they don’t offer or price in sauces for the empanadas. The sandwich and beans came out over 20 minutes later and I had to remind them they forgot about the smoothie. Cubano sandwich was gigantic. Bread was perfection. Perfect heat with the cheese, meat, mustard and pickles coming together exactly like they should. Love me a good Cubano sandwich and they’re so hard to come by in SD for some crazy reason. Pinto beans were earthy with some crushed for texture and consistency in water. Beans were done smart and were extremely comforting. Mango smoothie was fresh, cool and refreshing. Right on the money. Can’t recommend enough, but you must have some patience and time to enjoy the experience.

Bring lots of napkins, they give you forks but forks are slower than your hands and you will want to tear into this tasty chicken as soon as he puts it in front of you. Ordered a whole chicken meal, for the wife and myself thinking there would be leftovers. There is nothing left aside from very good black beans, Mexican rice, and surprisingly 2 flour tortillas. I say this because everything tastes freshly made, very homemade wonderfully fresh. The owner just gave me a fresh from the oven cheese pastry. The dough amazingly crisp, the sweetness perfectly balanced. Having a very hard time not eating the second one that I am sure is meant for the wife. If you even slightly like chicken and are close to San Diego pull off the 805 and get a whole chicken meal, I dare anyone to make it outside with any chicken.

Had the guayaba and the pan con lechon. The cheese pastries were perfect, best I’ve had outside of Cuba or Miami! Prices were great $.99 for the pastries, and $ 6 for the sandwich. Service was outstanding. If you’re looking for a good place to eat, or for some dessert pastries, stop reading this and come here now, you’ll be glad you did!
