Krazy Kevin’s Hobbies

I have been to every hobby shop in SD and this is where to go if you want help with RC. They get very busy at times so it may take some patience but they know solutions to fix problems. Seems that the complaints here involve buying a RC car somewhere else and expecting Paul or Kevin to fix your problem. Oh BTW the Hobby shop on Clairemont Mesa is also very good but have limited parts for RC cars.

My son and I went in to find out information for his pre-​Christmas toys lol and to my surprise Kevin was extremely helpful in explaining and showing me how things work and the difference between the online ect my son currently has an online purchased RC car although wasn’t cheap I think a smarter purchase is something like what he has better suspension and has speed perfect for a 12 year old kid and he offers layaway plans love it !!!

Ive been to several hobby shops in San Diego and they lack RC knowledge. I came down to Krazy Kevin’s over a month ago and all i can say is that these guys know there stuff. Every time i go in Paul and Kevin are more than willing to go the extra mile to finding a part for me or even ordering a part if necessary. I want to thank these guys for there assistance every time i go in. Remember this is a hobby shop if you have a toy’s r us toy you wont find anything here to repair your remote control toy! These guys rock and will always explain to you how something should be done before you leave.

This was my first time in their hobby store. I expected to find helpful RC repair people, but instead they were elitist. If you have a toy RC don’t bother going there. They specialize in RC’s that cost hundreds of dollars.

They have a small store that doesn’t have a big in store selection but they are more than willing to help any way they can. They will order online if needed and have space to help you work on projects which they are more than willing to show you! I guess it’s a family store which I will continue to support because they are/​were nice. They have a great selection on parts and were willing to help answer my questions for a while.

Great location, fully equipped with plenty of spare parts and the staff offers expert advice for repairs and upgrades. Pricing also seems on point with online sales so why not support your local small business?

I usually buy online which is where I bought my Slash 4×4 ultimate and my Nitro 4-​tec along with other small parts and sometimes from Hobbytown USA which isn’t local from me. Unfortunately, I needed a couple quick small parts so I decided to stop by and scope out this local shop. I will never step foot into this shop ever again. I figured I would support this local shop although they are over priced. After spending about $ 115 on tires, wheels, and other small parts, i figured the guy Paul would let me work on my slash there on their center table but no he didn’t want «glue all over the table». He was somewhat knowledgable with the Slash but could not answer a couple questions I had with some parts. He seemed quick to take my money. I guess its okay to buy small parts from there if its convenient but other than that I would take my business else where. BTW I guess its now named Kevin and Pauls Krazy Hobbies according to my receipt. Also why ask to see an ID when you are using debit? That is the purpose of a pin!

Great little store. They’re a small shop but have many parts for the wildly popular and even older or unpopular vehicles on the market. I’ve seen a kid with red cat racing car go in looking for parts (which aren’t around) and Kevin frankenstiened some parts and make it work and even stronger. Great guys here.
Very knowledgeable with years experience in this hobby. You can’t be a one person owned shop for 25 years without knowing your business and being damn good at it. And their prices are pretty much on par with online and those huge chain stores which is awesome! If they don’t have what you need they can special order parts and don’t charge you extra. I’ve done a few custom projects with their help.

Horrible service I spent 10mins waiting to be helped even asked them for help and was told to wait will 3 employees all talked with one person about racing so I gave up and left will never go back

Worst customer service! Went in knowing exactly what we wanted, but ended up leaving without it due to the owner’s horrible attitude. Will not be returning. There are plenty of other hobby shops to give your business to, steer clear!

I have been in the hobby for a long time and this service here was terrible. Not sure if it was the owner but he rang me up without asking if I was done then basically sat my change on the table instead of handing it to me. I try to support the Local hobby shops in the area but Krazy Kevin’s is one I would not miss.

Great place to buy your next rc car. They have everything you need and are very knowledgeable.

Oh man old school in here but I loved it all. The guys really know they stuff been doing it for a while. Came in for some parts for my rc and left thinking wow I would drive from el Cajon to chula vista again when I need more parts.

Cool place with friendly staff that helped me get a bit more comfy with my new-​to-​me nitro RC. They also told me about a few cool places to race my car around on tracks. This will be my local go-​to for sure!

Recently purchased an RC car at another store (after feeling nostalgia for my 80s cars), and although I got a good price I didnt get good service. Found this store and was stoked. It is a small store front, but its packed with RC stuff. The guy that helped me was knowledgeable and you can tell he lives for RC cars. The two times I have been in there, not only were they friendly but so where the customers. Kind of like a little community, it was neat. A guy came over and we started talking about my truck and he went over the truck, showed me some ideas on how to improve performance, and gave me a lot of pointers… AND THIS GUY WAS A CUSTOMER!!!
This is a neat little community store, and I will be back for sure. Glad I found it and I would recommend this place to anyone.
The price range thing is kinda pointless here, because they have $ 2 parts and expensive nitro cars, but I gave it an inexpensive rating because I checked their prices to internet sellers and they were comparable for sure.

In the hobby that is RC/​Model cars Krazy Kevin’s the one of the few remaining survivors of a dying breed. In a city where 3 hobby stores stake claim to their own territories (West Coast Hobbies in the Clairemont Area and Hobby Central in Poway), Kevin’s watches over the Southland like a Duke in his Manor on the hill.
Kevin’s shop has always been a small and humble place. I remember frequenting the store as a kid, always picking up spur gear after spur gear for my Tamiya Blackfoot. He’s always been helpful and a blast to talk to. His knowledge alone speaks volumes upon how dedicated of a hobbyist he is.
So whether you need parts for your electric or nitro powered setups, shoot over to Kevin’s shop. One thing, he tends to cater more towards the offroad enthusiasts rather than onroad (for on road you may have to make the trek up to Hobby Central, either that or over pay at Hobby Shack).
