Extra Storage

Don’t EVER rent a Uhaul from this facility! I moved this weekend and had paid movers ready and waiting. I placed a reservation well in advance online and received a confirmation code for a Uhaul truck. I show up at the appointment time to pick up my truck and am told they have no trucks! They could care less that I had paid movers waiting and that I was under the gun to get a truck. They took their time online and proceeded to tell me no other trucks were available. They then changed and said I could drive 20 miles away and get a truck. They promised they put in the reservation for me. Uhaul charges by the mile so I was going to have to eat that cost of a 40 mile roundtrip travel just to get a truck. I then showed up to the other location only to find out that no truck was available!!! Thankfully the manager at the other place was awesome and I was able to work something out through him and still move. If you must have a vehicle available and you presume one will be there because you make a reservation RESERVING a truck, do not anticipate it actually being there if you rent through these guys! VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE guys!

They advertise lower pricing on the website and then come up with odd reasons not to honor their own pricing. The two tired ladies in the front were not helpful at all. I guess they did not want my business.

I would not recommend no stars the staff are shady and very rude and they stereotype people my stuff got stuck in the elevator and I had to pay for a bigger one on the bottom just because I did not want to use the stairs to put my things in the storage I originally got because they said it was my fault the elevator was broken no mechanic on site and inconvenience when I had to be out of my place the next day it wasn’t right at all and them treating me with no respect they are so fake cause with another customer they were nice to I would say discriminating because I look Hispanic and the new customer. Looked white. No stars from me

I needed to rent a 10×20 foot space for my home while I was in transition. I looked at the various storage facilities in Chula Vista, and I found Extra Storage via Unilocal.The prices were low so I rented a storage facility month-​to-​month, with the first month’s free. The rent is due on the first of the month.
My lease was up on January, 2015. I had 98% of my items out of storage by the end of December, with a few remaining boxes that I planned to take out at the end of December.
On Christmas Day, my sister’s roommates were brutally murdered in their home. I had to attend to my family’s emergency (finding her a new place to live), and I called Extra Storage explaining that I was out of the San Diego area and needed an extra 2 days to attend to personal issues. I was told that if I took my items out on Jan 2 (mind you, they were closed and I could not access the unit on January 1^st), that they would charge me an extra $ 235 for the extra day NO EXCEPTIONS. Every item had to be out by Dec 31^st.
I had to drive 6 hours round trip from north of Los Angeles to avoid the $ 235 fee for an extra 2 days of storage (no, they wouldn’t even pro-​rate the rent).
These are the most inflexible, heartless people on the planet who work here. I told them I’d put this review online and I hope their business suffers as a result. Go take your business to another facility that has an ounce of compassion or reason (i.e. pro-​rating me for an extra 2 days of use).

Mrs. G is nice, very helpful, friendly and is fast as what she does. She’s also funny! She made my day. The young man who showed us the unit was very polite as well. Top night!

Unlike other reviews: I think all of the staff is very nice and helpful. Also, they have the best price in town… I did the actual leg work and asked pricing from many storage places, compared pricing, discounts and I couldn’t find a better price.
Also, I feel comfortable that my stuff is safe, the ladies at the front desk are always monitoring who goes in and comes out, and they also actually review the security videos! I mean… who does that? Great Job!
Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that it doesn’t have lighting inside the storage units and it has limited access hours, which would be great if you have a business.
But overall, very nice price, clean place, safe and wonderful helpful staff!

I didn’t think i would ever write a review for a non-​food facility, let alone a storage facility, but after the exceptional customer service I received, i couldn’t resist! They are so amazing and extremely helpful! I was moving out of town for three months, and needed a place to just store my stuff until i got back. I found this place through a friend of mine, and i am so glad they pointed me the right direction!
They were so helpful with moving my stuff. I had called them ahead of time, and they had already had things ready and waiting for me (which was a great time saver). What was even better was that after I loaded in my stuff i realized I forgot to bring my own lock. Without hesitation, they were quick to give me a lock, and they didn’t even charge me for it.
Also, when my fiancé and I went there, my fiancé needed to use the restroom, but there was none to be found. The lady working there took my fiancés hand and took her to the «employees only» restroom. These are the little gestures that I find make the biggest difference. The lady helping us was amazing, and I would recommend this place to anyone! The amazing security, and phenomenal customer service, and large space make this place a no brainer.

I’m renting a unit at Extra Storage at 1483 Broadway Chula Vista, CA 91 911.
I’d gone to the storage a few times and was very please with the staff’s professional appearance, their politeness toward their customers.
They explained the storage unit rules, hours etc with care, and concern for their customers. The prices are very reasonable when you need some thing for your prize possessions.
The Extra Storage is very clean, staff has been very kind and helpful to me with me being disabled. I was driven to my storage unit. That to me made an impression on me. I’m thankful to receive that 10% discount being a senior, and on Social Security it really will help me.

You can’t beat the price! Definitely the best price in town. Its not your typical air conditioned, 24 hour access, nice flooring kind of storage but who cares… as long as it stores your crap and its safe thats all that matters.
This is the second time we use this storage facility because of their great pricing. They always have some sort of special going on. When we first got our storage unit, they had a half off special for the first three months. We paid only $ 35 bucks for a 5×10. After the three months, its $ 70 a month. BUT if you Unilocal them, there is an extra 10% off!!! SWEET DEAL!
The lack of star is because the hours do suck. And the people there do so as well. WIth the exception of this one blonde woman who is really nice and helpful. The other older couple not so much. As for hours, definitely give yourself enough time to move in/​out. We made the mistake of arriving at 5:45 when it closed at 6:15p. WIth half our crap in the hallway we were literally being kicked out. Older woman with an accent and incredibly rude… pretty much told me she didn’t care if i left my shit in the hallway but she was going to lock the place down and kick us out. Seriously lady, calm down, it was only 6:18pm!!! Geez. They really lack in their personable, friendly customer services skills.
Whatever. Like Joel G. says I wasn’t there to see them, i was there just to store my stuff. So if your looking for a good deal and don’t mind the hours and dealing with a crappy person this is the place to go.
Btw I ignored the lady, shoved my stuff into the unit (unorganized) and am still praying none of my breakables broke. =/

If you are looking for a clean, safe and reasonably priced storage place in Chula Vista and the Southbay… you should consider Extra Storage. I think you will be glad you did.

pros… located and seemingly tiny little storage place in chula vista. from the front all you see is the gate and a little building, but there is so much more behind the gate. it is a sprawling maze of two story buildings. the people that run the place, or who i saw are very no nonsense people, they are all business. not very friendly in the least. but they do offer a clean, if not older buildings to store your stuff. very reasonably priced too. i was quoted $ 47 a month for a 5’x10’ 2^nd story place. that’s down right cheap.
cons… don’t expect much in friendly or happy faces when you come into the little front building. they guy was not a happy camper, but who cares i didn’t go there to see him.
