Great location for Mexican food! It’s somewhat of a hidden location, I love Chilaquiles and this is the taco shop that serves my favorite made just right with a huevo estrellado. For a taco shop they have a small restaurant feel to it too. And they serve alcoholic beverages, wine, beer, margaritas, and mimosas. They serve you chips and salsa while you wait for your order. They also have a mini patio area. Great service, friendly staff, very welcoming. I recommend this place to friends, enjoy!

Great food, great people!!! It is my third time there, and every time, the food is superior than most Mexican restaurants I’ve been to. Owner is very friendly and always smiling!

Great food very small place. Don’t expect a great location more of a hole in a wall. For being a small location it’s good food. Perfect place of your on the go or take out. While waiting for food there was ppl loitering around that looked like gang members and transient looking. The rating is based on food and location.

Love this place. It is probably my all time favorite place to eat tacos. With vegetarian options and great service, it’s understandable to see why it is rated so high.

This place was all about customer service. Very friendly environment and honestly very good waiter. It’s small but it works for the location. The menu isn’t very big but the have your typical dishes. I had a carne asada burrito which was covered in their ranchero sauce. Also had a machaca breakfast burrito. Both were very good and the ranchero sauce was amazing the carne asada burrito had a guacamole inside now I should note it didn’t have rice or beans but it had sautéed onions and peppers a bit different but good overall. The machaca burrito was really good. The chips and salsa that are complimentary are homemade and the salsa is so good I had like two bowls. It’s a bit spicy but I love spicy

What a great find! Unilocaled«Breakfast Burrito«while in Chula Vista, and this was the number one hit. Unilocalers don’t lie! Walked in and the owner was super friendly. Eggs with green peppers and onions, rice, beans and tortillas house made salsa. Should have taken a picture but just go! Love supporting family business and this place was great. I see beer and wine application in the window and I’ll be back for lunch and a beer!

Excellent customer service is an understatement! They treat you like family. The owner brought out a sample of mole with the chips, provided menu suggestions and was just overall a super nice guy! The food is delicious and made fresh to order. Definitely worth the little extra time the food takes compared to a typical taco shop! Totally recommend!

These guys know how to make a great chorizo scramble with some sides to boot, including corn tortillas for $ 6.25. I prefer my chorizo and eggs well scrambled and these guys not only did that, but added some great green peppers, onions, an some tomatoes as well. There was a very good balance between the savory pork chorizo and scrambled eggs. The scramble was well seasoned and tasted great. You can have rice and beans on the side, or ax the beans, and go for the house breakfast potatoes as I did. The potatoes arrived on the plate a perfect light golden brown, mixed with the same peppers and onions, as the scramble, and were tender inside with a light crunch on the outside. The were lightly seasoned and I ate them with the table salsa they offered with their house made corn tortilla chips. The Mexican rice was outstanding and very similar to the way my mother would make it. It had a light and fluffy texture, light in the tomato and garlic flavor, with spot on seasoning. Well done. The table corn tortilla chips were great, the corn tortillas that came with the scramble were warm soft, and the red table house salsa packed some good heat and flavor. What else would I want, in addition to the great chorizo scramble? Oh yes, that great friendly service! It may be a small place, but they have heart…

This place is a hidden gem. Thanks to Unilocal,I found it and had to try it out. Let me say that growing up in Arizona and having lived all over the United States, I’ve had good and bad Mexican food. THISPLACEISONEOFTHEGOODONES. This might be my new South Bay favorite. The place is small but don’t let the size fool you. I was seated at one of the 6 inside tables(there’s outside seating too) and was quickly greeted with a menu and a smile. I asked about the Chicken Enchiladas and the host told me about a 2 Enchilada special that comes with beans and rice. I said sure. After my order, my host brought me chips & salsa. Let me tell you that the salsa was amazing. Just enough heat with a little sweetness from the tomatoes. After I devoured the first small bowl of chips & salsa, my host brought me more(Yum!). My entrée was delivered very quickly after that. The Chicken enchiladas(red sauce), beans and rice were good. My host told me they have lots of other specials that aren’t on the printed menu… so ask! My host was very welcoming and friendly. He suggested other specials when I come back to include cheese enchilada breakfast plate with eggs or the tender Carne Asada. I will be back.

Fantastic Mexican food! From the outside, this place doesn’t look like anything too special but the food is authentic and damn good! Plus the menu has a large variety(including breakfast) so there really is something for everyone for a decent price and huge portions. Customer service is great too, funny staff :) Highly recommend! We’ll be coming back for sure.

This is the real deal. Top 5 Mexican restaurants in SD. One of the most interesting Mexican menus I’ve seen in awhile. All of the breakfast dishes sounded so good, but I went with the menudo and horchata. Right away fresh warm chips and salsa come out. They were incredible. So nice getting great chips and salsa. The guy that runs this place is so nice he brought me out a small albondigas to try. I’ve never had it before. It’s so good. Think Mexican meatballs might be my favorite meatballs now. Horchata with the fresh cinnamon was delicious. Menudo comes out with a basket of spices, onions, limes and hot sauces. The menudo was incredible. None of that oily broth here. Clean, warm and delicious. Incredible corn tortillas too. They were even nice enough to offer me some flour tortillas with some batter on them. This place is a major treat. Probably some of the best customer service around. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes. Exceeds the high reviews they’re getting. Make sure you tip well. They go above and beyond to give you a great meal.

Came here after an appointment because it was right across the street and I was craving Mexican food. It’s a small corner taco shop, but the service felt like a restaurant, as said by others. The cook in the back wore a chef coat! Sounds legit. We were just getting food to go and while we were waiting, they gave us complimentary horchata and chips & salsa! The manager was super nice and welcoming. The food was fresh and great quality as well! My dad loved his beef taco combo and my California burrito was flavorful. Definitely recommend this to anyone in the area.

Very fresh and good quality food. Even their veggies, which is surprising from a fast food Mexican place. They’re burritos are well made and give you plenty of food. My only complaint is the sporadic opening schedule, I wish it was open more often cause I always seem to come by after closing time.

This is a classic little mom and pop mexican restaurant. The quality of the food is excellent as are the prices. The owners are friendly and wait on your table. Today I had a ham and cheese omelette with beans and rice and corn tortillas. A basket of chips with salsa was delivered to my table as I waited. All very tasty. I have eaten here on a number of occasions and have never been dissatisfied. Highly recommended!

Thanks Unilocalers. Great little place in Chula Vista for cheap eats. The food is very good for the price range — you can get a huevos y machaca breakfast for about $ 6.25 here w/beans and tortillas. The food is always served hot, consistent, and delicious. The bathroom is clean and available for your use.(One thing I hate about many taco shops in CV is that many don’t allow their customers to use the restroom to wash their hands before eating — enraging!) What sets this place apart is the man who serves the meals — he is such a nice man. You can tell he takes pride in the restaurant. I come back here just to see the smile on his face. Not fancy, but if you’re looking for cheap Mexican food in CV and service with a smile, you can’t go wrong with El Huevo Estrellado.

We were in the area and decided to give this place a try… It’s a small place, a little hidden… You walk in and there’s a few tables, enough to fit about 20 people total. You order up at the counter and take a seat at a table if you plan to dine in. The lady who took our order and brought our food was friendly. While waiting for our food, we were brought some tortilla chips and salsa… The food came out hot within a few mins. The food itself was okay. I wish I had liked it more. I ordered a pollo asado taco and a pollo asado tostada. Both came with a decent serving of chicken, and piled with lettuce. It tasted okay. But I guess just average when you compare it to the many, MANY places you can go for the same food. My husband tried their carne asada burrito. He seemed to enjoy it at first. The meat had a good flavor. But there was an awful lot of sour cream and guacamole that it became a bit overpowering, my husband was unable to finish it. Presentation was nice, service was friendly, I love small businesses. But I just wish I enjoyed the food a bit more. The ambience is casual.

This taco shop(more like a restaurant because of the service and quality of food) was amazing! I decided to come by here because I pass by it all the time. I was craving some chips and guacamole. I ordered some chips and guac, and the man who took my order and served me was so nice! I felt like I was a queen! I saw a sign for their soup and asked if I could try it and it was so delicious! It was a meatball mexican soup. The guacamole tasted amazing, the salsa was delicious, and my horchata was perfect! Coming here made my whole week. I have never recieved such good customer service at a mexican food place. I definetly recommend! You will not be disappointed.
