Community Mortuary

I just recently had a bad experience with my mom at this place. I had given them some nice clothes to change my mom into but instead she still had her same clothes on when she passed at home. On a, seemed like a gurney, with a blanket covering her lower half. I felt like my mom was disgraced. They wouldnt want their mom wheeled out like that. The place is awful. Too many services going on at the same time. People bumping into other upset people. It did not seem very intimate to me. More like hurry up and grieve cuz we have other people coming in. I would make sure that everything is suppose to be the way you want before they are presented. I would recommend the old Humphreys between K and L. Florence Lyda

This review is way past due. I was going thru some paperwork from when my father passed in February and was recalling how great Community Mortuary was in handling the services we required of them. My father had purchased a burial type insurance policy w/​them several years ago. When he passed, all I had to do was call and show up. There were a few papers to sign, but aside from that, it was so easy and at the time, easy was what i needed. They did a cremation service for me and then had the remains sent to his final burial spot where we had the service. I ordered some memorial cards to be made from them, and bought some small urns. The few times I communicated with them, they were kind, professional and compassionate. I am glad my dad had the sense to take care of this in advance in their service. Thank you Community Mortuary for making that difficult time less difficult.

I have nothing but good comments for the way everything was handled for my father’s funeral. Called them from the hospital and made arrangements for them to pick up my father’s body after his passing. They took care of everything with nothing but respect. They took care of transporting the body to the church for the memorial service and then to Fort Rosecrans for my Dad’s military honor interment. My Dad had his funeral arrangements taken care of for him and my Mother ahead of time, so there were no extra costs for us to take care of, except for the extra death certificates and the increased cost of those, which wasn’t too much.
I declined the guest book, but when we arrived at the memorial service, they had provided one for us. It was beautiful and very much appreciated.
They also made the arrangements for the military honors at Fort Rosecrans.
Thank you for making this difficult time in our lives a little easier by taking care of the funeral arrangements in such a professional manner.

It is unfortunate that I have to write this review, but due to the level of service they’ve provided I owe them this much! Community Mortuary is run by Robert and Dolores Humphrey. Robert’s father retired and sold his business to a large corporation where Robert went on to work. After a short while Robert decided he missed the level of service they were able to provide and re-​opened the family business under its current name. While there is a Humphrey’s mortuary a block away they are not related to the Humphrey family and do not provide the same level of service. When my mother passed away the day after Christmas I knew I wanted to use Community since they did a wonderful job with my grandparents’ funerals. The people at Community are genuinely sensitive to your already fragile emotions and do not try to rush you through the process. They advise you and are able to answer any question you may have. They even helped me with using a life insurance policy to cover the costs. Compared to some other funeral homes, Community is very reasonably priced and provides a level of service most cannot or will not touch. As sad a time as it is, I have to make sure people are aware of the wonderful job these folks have done for my family on three occasions.
