This is place is like a hidden gem, I don’t know why the only have 3 star. Since the new owners took over 6 months ago, they totally turned this place around. It’s really nice on the inside. They got flat screens. The outside is deceiving. Don’t judge a book by the cover. Def worth going back.

I went there right after these guys bought the place and felt overwhelming unwelcomed there. There was one guy in particular there that I think is a friend of the owner or perhaps part owner? I’m not sure what but he was just a jerk. Like he wanted to start trouble with my friend and I. We are buying rounds but he didn’t like our kind apparently. He’d make patronizing remarks. A friend like that come into MY bar would be tossed fast but whatever. Years later now and I give it another try. The atmosphere was the same. Unwelcoming and uptight. It seems to cater to a different crowd or something? I mean, I figure myself as a regular half white, half Mex dude who likes rock music, Chargers, Padres, sports, etc. but it just doesn’t go there. Weird. The bathrooms are all jacked up too. Even with all that said I don’t want to totally dirt bag the place. The good side was that they had a nice bartender working, not real social but fairly attentive. They have a good juke box, allot of TV’s, a covered smoking area and an open wifi. Now the guy who I think owns it was very affable and had a nice personality but the overall experience… well I’ll be back in a couple years to give it another try. Oh, and these aren’t just my sentiments. My girlfriend and buddy felt exactly the same way about it. So one star times 3.

The place was hella cool, music jumpin and the faces where pleasant despite being a Wednesday the place had a good crowd playing pool or just enjoying the front porch. I highly recommend stopping by and having a couple of mixed drinks made to order…

Last night we went to the Chula Vista Sports Bar and had a great time! They had Hemp Ale on tap which was good. Hadn’t even heard of it before I went there so points for introducing me to something new that I liked! The owner was there and he was friendly and cool. The pool games were free. It was a great place to have a beer or three on a Sunday! :)

The first time I visited CV Sports Bar was during basketball season and I was watching a Lakers game. I do remember buying a pitcher of Amber Bock for $ 10 and it was a big pitcher. So, my first visit was a cool experience with a few laid back people watching the game. After I left, I decided I would come back again to watch a game sometime. Currently, I visited this place again a few Thursday’s ago(I think it was Thanksgiving, lol) to pregame it before I headed to Diamond Jim’s. Why? Because Diamond Jim’s only accepts cash only and the CV Sports Bar is just a few blocks down and they do take cards. A $ 10 dollar minimum is not bad at all because I’ve been to other places where you have to have a $ 20 minimum. I ordered a pitcher of Fat Tire for $ 12, which I didn’t mind paying at all because its a well reasonable price for the size of their pitcher. The two guy bartenders were OK. They just seamed they didn’t give a shit about their customers. I don’t expect them to go beyond customer service expectation but show some character and be more helpful, especially if its a small bar with less than twenty people. Surprisingly, there was quit a few good looking girls but most of them had company already. But, its nice to know there’s pretty girls that go there, Right? No guy wants a sausage fest. It’s a chill bar to pre-game it or go with a few friends and watch a game. Reading these reviews below mine, I will have to watch my next UFC match at CV Sports Bar to see if its cool.

this place sucks, my friends and I went there for a UFC, and felt we should of just stayed at home and order it… for one the place is small and it smells like cup of noodles. it has a bad atmosphere. The people all look like cholos… the door guy is on you the second you walk in… to see if you bought a drink, cause if you don’t this guy will kick you out… not a good place to drink with your boys

This is located across the street from the new Northgate store in Chula Vista. It is a sports bar only when a big boxing/UFC/Football/Soccer match is on, all other times this is a dive with some weird regulars. For me, this is the default spot to watch UFC fights when I don’t want to go downtown. In this capacity this place is awesome. There are 4HD falt screens in the place as well as 2 – 3 more regular TV’s. All those TV’s in a really small place means you will always have a spot with a good view of the action. Not a big selection of beers but what they do have is cheap. Service is somewhat lacking but I think its because they aren’t used to the big crowds when a fight/event is going on. While food isn’t on the menu, they do have a crock pot with melted cheese and chips to make nachos. They have the usual condiments(jalapeño’s, onions) and sometimes chili. There is also a popcorn machine that they charge for(they don’t charge for the nachos though???). There is a pool table that looks serviceable and a jukebox(they don’t allow it during fights). They also have a stereo system that they can turn on if they want. Parking can be a hassle, as there is a really small lot behind the place. If you get there late you may have to park across the street. Credit Cards are accepted but have a $ 10 minimum in place.
