R & L Feed

My plan for the morning was to purchase chicken fees for my 3 hens. I didn’t realize that most feed stores don’t open until 9am. After my usual place was not open and it was after 9. I became bothered and started out on a search for a new feed store. I followed the directions and was met with a warm smile. The young lady was very helpful. The man who loaded my 50 lb bags was easy on the eyes. I will be back.

I like this place. Didn’t make me wait too long for my order and good impression of friendliness.

I have always wanted a bale of hay to decorate my front porch for the trick or treater’s that come to my house every year and I needed a bale of hay for our preschool’s «Trunk or Treat.»
Although there are many feed stores in the Chino Valley, only R & L feed is on Unilocal.I wasn’t sure of where to purchase one but have seen them at Kellogg Store at Cal Poly Pomona for $ 15. I would say most people don’t typically Unilocal for hay and the locals already know where to find them: p
You can buy smaller bales at Walmart or Michael’s but they can get costly. My large bale was only $ 8.95 and my trunk looked amazing for my trunk theme «country farm stand.»
I paid the cashier and pulled my car around the corner and the friendly and helpful guy working in the back pulled one down from the mound and loaded it in my car for me for me. He shoved it in as if I had a pickup truck but I’m glad it fit ;p

I like going to this place. The service is always great. The ladies are always super friendly and helpful. I being going here for about 5 years now and I will continue to go here as long as I own hens. Great small family businesses.

I’ve come here a few times for hay before I wrote this review because I could not make up my mind about it. It is in the middle of nowhere so it’s easy to miss. They cater to people with horses and anyone with experience who already know what they want.
Their hay can be a hit or miss — sometimes it is extremely green and fresh and a few times it is mostly brown and dusty. It is a reasonable price, much cheaper than you would pay at a Petco. They used to sell flakes but now do it a lot less frequently so if you need less than a bale like I do, this is not the place.
There are two employees: a young man who does all the heavy lifting and the young lady who works the register. The young man is very friendly and will do his best for you. The young lady is a hit or miss — most of the time, when I walk in, I feel pretty unwelcome cause she doesn’t smile or greet you. She pretty much ignores you or talks in a very sarcastic way. However, after working with her several times, I realized that she is probably not intending to come off as cold or rude, it was just the way she talked. She is very knowledgeable and helpful… but it would help if she smiled more!
I lived with this up to now, not good but not bad. I could even deal with leaving empty handed sometimes. But recently, I discovered that they sell baby rabbits in the waaaaay back of the store. The rabbits are extremely cute but their living conditions are deplorable. The cages are rusty, cramped, and made of wire with no form of cushioning, not even a piece of cardboard, so it is not good for bunny paws. Their litter looks like it hasn’t been changed in forever, covered in droppings and urine soaked. And they are fed only pellets and corn. Rabbits are NOT supposed to have corn, it is harmful to them and can kill them cause they can’t digest it. Additionally, these bunnies looked extremely young — maybe 2 months max, which is the bare minimum for being weaned from their mom. At that age, they should be introduced to timothy/​alfalfa hay… which makes me wonder if they are too young for even hay or if the owner of R&L simply didn’t want to deal with the hassle. It’s not like they lack the hay to feed them properly.
I can’t in good conscience support a store, even a small business, knowing that they treat the animals they sell with more disregard than a Petsmart. I want to support R&L and I tried my best over the course of several months but it just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Over a year ago I thought this deserved a one star review. I was pissed off because I was helping to put together a harvest festival type thing and was down to the last minute for trying to find something like 20 bales of hay for seating and hay rides. I had never given anyone a low review like that, strictly because I understand small businesses livelihood relies on these posts. In my frustration I posted a review that looking back makes me feel like a bully, and I’m not. I apologize for whatever damage that review may have caused. The issue I had was extremely minor in retrospect and did not deserve the review I gave.

Our horses are in Mira Loma, and R & L delivers to Mira Loma every Sunday — this day only, bringing hay and feed to all Mira Loma customers who need delivery, as we do. They have very good orchard and alfalfa hay and also have a good selection of horse feed pelleted food.

Traditional feed store. I like to come here to get injections for my puppies. My only complaint is that the selection I saw in dog food is not that great, but if I’m going to be picky I can go to a pet store

We always come here for hay for my quarter horses and pellets for my miniature horse. Everyone is always nice and helpful.

I’ve been to R&L feed exactly once, For a bag of lay pellets and two bags of Chick scratch. It’s a nice old-​school Feedstore. The service was good. They are getting four stars and a review because I don’t think that they deserved one star for answering the phone one minute after closing time to see if somebody really needed some help.

I have been getting Hay from R&L for about 17 years or so and we have found it to be the BEST, they get to know what kind of Hay you like, and then they pick out of all the Hay to bring you exactly what you like… can you say SERVICE!!!
The guys are all very nice and always close gates and follow what instructions you provide. Girls in the office are all on the ball. whatever your needs are they have it!!!
if your not getting the service you want call R&L!!! we spend too much money on Hay not to be Happy!

I’ve been using this feed store for 15 years. They carry good hay and if there has been an issue they deal with it immediately. The delivery men are all polite and swift never leaving a mess. The store carries feed and supplies, for horses, cows, goats, poultry, and some dog & cat food.
They also carry chicks and rabbits. The workers are knowledgeable and know their clientele well..
