Wahfles Desserts & Coffee

My boyfriend and I just moved to Chino Hills from Orange County and were so excited to find an awesome unique restaurant. My bf got coffee and a make your own waffle sandwich and he was sold! I make my own waffle with strawberries and cinnamon which was so crispy and yummy. I also got a honey latte which was phenomenal. We will be back next Sunday! Also loved the small town feel and board games!

This place is always so great. I don’t come here too often but when I do, every employee is so nice and helpful. They are always able to recommend their favorite items on the menu. I really like coming here and getting tea and waffles. Awesome environment!

Came in on a Tuesday afternoon after that drive back from UCI. Wahfles is located in a small plaza that is on Pine and Butterfield Ranch (in the same plaza as the Pub at Chino Hills). The store was mostly empty, but there was a lot of seats that people or groups could sit at to talk with others, do homework, and study.
So what do you get here? Hmmm that’s a hard question. Psssst. Maybe try a waffle. Or one of their drinks? :D
I got a crème brûlée waffle. They offer it in Half and Whole form, where half is ~$ 5. But wait! Show them a Student ID and you get a discount! It was nice because I showed them my UCI ID and they were like «You’re a long way from home» when in actuality, I was close. And they understood. The commute. It was nice talking to them for a while at the register.
Waited about 5 minutes for my half crème brûlée waffleee. It had a lot of custard liquid over it. And I liked it. A lottt. It’s sweet and has some fruit on top of the waffle as well. And the waffle was fresh and you could hear crisp on it :)
Something that’s great to try in Chino Hills, but in a small plaza in a small area– wonder how much more I would go if it were near the Shoppes: P

Soo disappointing! The waffles looked amazing on Unilocal and I was so excited to try them. We ordered the crème brûlée, Nutella and banana and salted caramel with bacon. The waffles are pretty expensive for the small portion.
They all tasted dry and flavorless. I think the batter was old because we came before closing. They served our food in to-​go containers. I guess to hint that we should take it home and eat. I had a chai latte and they brought it out luke warm. It’s one of my pet peeves, that hot drinks be served hot and cold drinks served cold. I asked them to warm it up for us, which I’m glad they did. But I definitely won’t be coming back.

Came in on Sunday morning after my workout. I’ve been wanting to check it out but now wish I never bothered. My mom and I placed our order and waited for 35 minutes. It wasn’t that busy. While siting and observing the staff I came to a realization of how slow they talk, walk and lack communication skills with customers because they kept giving wrong orders to people. I’m sure the food here is great but I hope the owner hires ppl that are thankful for having a job not there for the heck of it to get a check. They don’t even smile. Long story short I got my money back and don’t even know what the status of my order was even after I asked.

So I came across this gem on the way to the dog park. It’s like dripp and Bruxie combined but taste better. I ordered the crème brûlée waffle and a white chocolate mocha iced. They were both delicious. The coffee was great as was the waffle.
The second time I went I ordered the breakfast Sammy and a coffee. The breakfast Sammy was okay but nothing like the brulee waffle. The coffee was great and tasted really fresh.
The third time I went I ordered an affrogato. I asked for chocolate ice cream but was given vanilla… I think the employees were a bit preoccupied in their own conversation to get the order right, nonetheless it tasted really good. I did not like the almonds on top but other than that totally would order it again.
All in all I would for sure order the white chocolate mocha (both iced and hot) the brulee waffle and for sure the affrogato again!

Thought about trying something new for Valentine’s Day. Arrived at 9:39 and food was brought out at 10:23 after asking the staff how long it would take. Although the staff was very friendly and the food was alright, I do not see how it could take 30+ minutes for a sandwich. (Especially on a very slow morning!)
I would not recommend this to a friend, but instead would refer to Brüxie in Chino Hills. Will not be returning either. Thanks.

Relaxed atmosphere for coffee and sweet/​savory treats. Honey Latte was quite tasty and perfect sweetness. I asked for ½ sweet. Latte heart art atop milk foam was very pretty as well.
Crème Brûlée waffle was presented nicely and tasted crispy and creamy. Quite delicious.
Banana Cream waffle reminded me of banana cream pie. It was the perfect pick-​me up snack in the afternoon.
Both delicacies paired perfectly with the honey latte.

Used to be my favorite coffee shop in Chino Hills and was always the place I recommended for group projects, great food, chill comfy nights, etc. That all changed last night. Workers were not attentive and left a dirty plate a customer placed on the table without picking it up for hours. Gross. A lady came with a disruptive child who walked/​crawled all over the place being «taken care» of by a brother not much older than she, knocking down chairs and crying the whole time. Once they finally left, I told my friend, «great, now we can really get some reading done!» WRONG! An annoying teenage girl with a high pitched voiced came for the sole purpose of flirting with the workers. She stood at the counter for about an hour, disregarding any one else in the store, poorly attempting to tease the worker about being an English major while annoying everyone else. She may have even been employed there herself, or does this frequently, because she knew all of them and knew how to fix the sign that she knocked down from leaning forward and over the counter. Attempts at reading out loud, to give her the benefit of the doubt and show her that others were trying to study, just resulted in her raising her Janice-​from-​FRIENDS voice louder.
Wahfles, I appreciated your board games, music, books, food, and vibe. But if you can’t create a peaceful environment that can be cohabited and enjoyed by all, then this where we part.

First they got my order wrong. What i got wasn’t bad, but not what i ordered. The menu is very unique and i wanted to try the rest later but…
But then staff… Im sure they are nice people individually, but as employees they were utterly negligent. Tables went unbussed for over 3 hours, and for as much chatting was going on they could have.
They were so occupied talking to themselves and were so loud i couldnt think. An off the clock female worker came to talk to them and was being actively rude to the ONLY two people in the store i was a part of. Inexcusable.
This is not a place to stay and relax, despite what the atmosphere conveys.
A one star review wont affect this place, but the experience wont go forgotten.

I love the atmosphere here. It’s cozy and they have a couch and some comfy chairs to relax in while you eat food. They even have board games and books to read which I think is awesome. They display art made by local artists on the walls and I think it’s cool that big on art.
Now the actual food is BOMB. I like to create my own waffle and it always comes out so good. A bit of a wait but its understandable and way worth it. The drinks are also pretty good and the service is very friendly! ⁵⁄₅ stars, I love this place :)

Great service and excellent menu. I came in for some coffee, a caramel and a mocha ice blended. Not really blended right and a ton of cream, caramel lacked any flavor at all. While I would not return for coffee I will have to come back and try the waffles, they looked amazing and the service alone is worth returning for as well. Fair prices and good quality, might have just been an off day

Came here for lunch around 12:30PM with a few of my lovely coworkers and to my surprise, Wahfles was pretty good. It’s located in a very isolated plaza in Chino Hills and probably doesn’t get much foot traffic which may be the reason as to why there was only 1 person working. The cashier who was also the barista/​waffle maker was nice however he seemed a little standoffish for some reason to me. The décor inside was very cute but your standard café décor (ie. hipster). There’s a good amount of seating, couches, and a bookshelf with a variety of books.
The menu is vast with many different options catering to many tastebuds. Whether you are feeling sweet or savory, the menu has it all. I was in the mood for a savory waffle since it was indeed lunch time. I decided on the Scarlett Johansson which consists of chicken breast, mozzarella, tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes, basil, and garlic aioli surrounded by two iron pressed waffles. It was roughly $ 7. I was expecting a large waffle (similar to Bruxie) but what came out was a good portion! Don’t be fooled by the size, it’s actually pretty filling. I loved the texture of the waffle since it wasn’t oily and heavy but rather light and airy. The sun dried tomatoes and basil were my favorite in the sandwich as it brought all of the flavors together.
I also ordered a regular latte with almond milk. I believe there was an attempted latte art… that failed but I heard almond milk is hard to work with so I forgive them. The latte, however, was decent. It wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t amazing. I think it lacked something I can’t quite put on finger on it.
Wahfles is the perfect spot for lunch and a different take on your typical sandwich and soup lunch. I thought it was pretty decent but my only complaint would be that it took a really long time for our coffee + food to come out because there was only 1 person working. (I eventually saw a 2^nd person but that was before we left). ALSO BRING YOUR STUDENT ID FOR 10% OFF.

Five stars. I really enjoyed this place. The crème brûlée waffle was oozing with goodness. It was super delicious. But a little too sweet. The other dessert waffles weren’t as special, and out of the ordinary. They also have waffle cookies. Pretty delish. The great thing about here is they have free wifi and lots and lots of outlets. People are nice. It’s quiet and not many people on a Wednesday night. Lots of room. They have board games and books too.

Tried this place on a cold Saturday night at 10 pm. The place had 5 or so groups just lounging, drinking teas and coffee, and chatting. Place has a «stay awhile» kind of feel.
Hubby and I shared a build your own full order of: house waffle with nutella, strawberry, banana, mixed berries, pecans, and whipped cream for about $ 7. The guy that took order was okay. Not friendly but not rude.
Overall, the waffle was not too sweet, but sweet enough. I would’ve enjoyed a warmer waffle though. Otherwise, the flavor combo went well together.
Don’t know if I would come back. If had all the ingredients at home, I would make it myself.
Other pros: plenty of parking and they stay open late.

I prefer their savory waffles which are amaze-​balls!, too. Opted for no meat cause someone who’s a regular got some dry chicken breast which is no bueno. Chicken not in this review cause I’ve never had it. A pile of grilled onions, tomatoes, melted mozz wedged in between a couple crispy waffles, and served with a side of vinegary cole slaw is a perfect complement.
Get the half waffles for something lighter, and try a few different ones,
Great service and cool peeps working here and they always go the extra mile to make care of you. At least, in my experience. So stop wahfling and make up your mind! This is a great spot. Do it.

1. Half Crème Brûlée Waffle — delicious. For once in a long time, I have found a place that actually serves CRISPY waffles. As waffles SHOULD be. This one wasn’t overly sweet and overall just had a great flavor.
2. Half ‘Murica Waffle — very good. I personally didn’t like this one as much as the Crème brûlée. I felt like this was a little sweeter because of the strawberry jam. Also, the toppings (probably the jam) made this waffle a little softer. It was still good, but not my favorite.
3. Scarlette Johansen — delicious savory sandwich. Perfect crunch to the waffle. It didn’t get soggy, even after sitting on the plate for a bit. Flavors were outstanding. I really loved this and I feel like I’ll be craving this over and over again.
4. House Waffle with Maple Syrup & Whipped Cream — this was good. Syrup wasn’t too sweet, but it did have too much whipped cream for my taste. I just brushed it off. lol This definitely satisfied my craving for a simple and sweet waffle.
–Not pictured is the Turbo Cola. This was interesting. It basically just tasted like coffee flavored soda. lol Not bad but not something I personally would want again. Then again, I don’t drink a lot of coffee OR soda. Might be good for a day after partying too hard or watching too many marathons on Netflix. lol

First time trying savory waffle sandwich and I’m really happy to report that this place has some legit ones! The Wilbur was sweet and savory, had just the right amount of saltiness from the ham, cheese, and bacon. The rosemary inside the waffle batter was just right and added a nice touch. The honey latte was really yummy… nice and piping hot and just the right amount of sweetness. Really friendly staff and cute décor… love the little sofa and table… reminds me of the sofa on the set of Friends. lol

Came into Wahfles Desserts & Coffee because it was within spitting distance of the only bar in this area of Chino Hills. It’s a bonus that they stay open «late» for 1 of 3 places in the plaza.
It’s pretty big as far as cafes go and it’s got this adorable little book shelf of random reads from teenagers to adult (no not the xxx kind of adult). Which is nice to have if you’re in just looking to relax with a cappuccino or something of the sort.
They have a wide variety of beverages, hot, cold, coffee tea and even offer both sweet and savory ‘wahfles’. Prices are decent and I believe that they are appropriate for their portions. Like every other café, Wahfles is in full Fall mode complete with their take on the fan favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte.
Naturally I had to order that due to the chilly weather at 10:30 at night; it was yummy and made well. It took a little longer than one would expect since there were only 5 of us and only 2 ordered drinks. But for a well made drink, I can wait patiently.
The girl who helped us with pleasant, much more than I would’ve been if I had to work on a Friday night in a dead area. So kudos to her for keeping up with the happy pretenses.

In town for a Unilocal Elite event and amazingly arrived early from L.A., I needed to kill some time and spied Wahfles Desserts & Coffee right before my eyes. Honestly, I thought I’d be able to continue my recent ice cream escapades with a scoop before I threw down some serious gastropub grinds nearby, but nope — no dice! The aroma of baked goods enticed me, the free AC was welcoming, and the music had me bobbing my head. Would I return to this «waffle house» the next time I was in the area?!
Unsweetened Organic Green Tea ($ 2.50) — This 16-​oz. iced drink really hit the spot as SoCal dealt with near 100-​degree temperatures. I should’ve asked for less ice since I slurped it down before I knew it. Otherwise, nothing special and simply was a thrist-​quencher.
Waffled-​shaped Cookies (l-​r) ($ 1.20 ea.) — What a fun and great idea! Now, only if they served these as ice cream sandwiches!!! From the Snickerdoodle (I nuked it for ten seconds and ate this the next morning, it still had plenty of snicker along with some doodle), to the Peanut Butter (although not gooey, I really needed milk with this), and finally the Chocolate Chip (lots of chips in every bite).
Service — I was a kindly greeted by a friendly young female at the counter, but was eventually helped by an equally friendly young male who took my order and explained to me about their offerings. My drink was ready immediately, and I was asked to take a seat and my food would be brought out to me. Five minutes later I had my impluse treats and was in late breakfast bliss. Easy straightforward customer service; great job!
Parking (Free) — Located within an outdoor shopping center, there were plenty of spots in this medium-​large parking lot they shared with several businesses; ’nuff said.
Atmosphere, décor, ambience — Naturally well-​lit by numerous large windows, this open spacious floorplan was filled with tall wooden chairs, tables, and a few cushiony leather couches and loveseats.
There was one specific wall (as well as others throughout) that displayed the artwork of local artists/​students which were also for sale.
Several ceiling fans kept the place cool as a multitude of small recessed electric lighting helped illuminate the business. Generally speaking, the citrus-​colored paint was soothing and welcoming. There were no TVs, but great alternative music (i.e. Belle and Sebastian, The Shins, The Smiths) played in the background.
Attire — Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-​shirt, boardshorts, and flip-​flops.
Overall, Wahfles Desserts & Coffee was a pleasant find to pass the time as I experienced my first waffle cookies while I chilled to awesome music and took in some artwork. The menu seemed varied enough, but seriously… add some ice cream to the mix; I would’ve loved a waffle cookie ice cream sandwich! The prices seemd totally reasonable, and the staff was young, exuberant, and helpful. I found exceptionally good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $ 6.00 BEFORE tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice… AMEX! 4.5 STARS
