History

Established in 1959.

F.R. and Jo Bailey covered their first wedding in 1949, and opened their home to serve Chillicothe in 1959. The south addition was created in 1963, and today offers a spacious reception area, custom frame sales, large digital viewing screen for portrait selections, and our own custom print lab. 1987 saw the addition of additional dressing rooms, large cameraroom and outdoor portrait courtyard. Upon their retirement in 1999, the Bailey’s sold to staff photographer Jon Shannon, a 19-year studio owner in his own right. Fifteen years later, Bailey’s is going strong, and has added a new division called «Families in Faith», providing top-quality church directories for area congregations.

Meet the Business Owner

Jon S.

Business Owner

Jon Shannon, owner of Bailey Studio, embraced photography from a young age, with roll-film cameras and a home darkroom as his springboard. Following high school, Jon attended Rhode Island School of Photography, and was immediately hired by Bray Studio of St. Joseph, MO. A year with Bray’s, led to a year with Bailey’s in Chillicothe, and then leaving to open Shannon Photography in Chillicothe. Nineteen years as owner of Shannon Photography on Washington Street led Jon back to Bailey’s, with a purchase contract effective January 1, 2000. Jon and staff consistently partake of continuing education in order to stay abreast of the newest innovations in the portrait industry.
