History

Established in 1978.

This business started with my father Rene in 1949 as Barthelette Moving and Storage Services I joined my father in 1978 doing long distance moves and updated the name to Vanguard Moving Services. My son Ron Jr. joined my team in 1984 as General Manager of Operations. We noticed over time the importance for SMALL moves since small moves is not the primary attraction for most moving companies. We pride ourselves on our Clean Moving Trucks, Knowledge and Experience of this business.

I grew up in Chicopee and now reside in South Hadley with my wife Jacquelyn (Mainville) of 50 years. We have 3 great kids (Chrissy, Keith and Ron Jr.), we have 4 grandchildren (All boys) who are great athletes and who are all in college at this time. I like Classic Cars and love to go to the car shows with my wife. Our getaways are mostly spent in Vermont or with me on the Golf Course. I stay pretty busy with my hobbies which also includes Bowling and being a Member of the Beavers Club. I have been in the moving business for over 35 years and it’s something I truly enjoy doing.
