Excellent customer service! Every employee greets you and is willing to help you find the products you’re looking for. Great selection in the meat department, I always go here to get steaks or Tri tips for a bbq. Great selection of produce as well! I’m a huge fan of sushi and they make it fresh every day! The store is always clean and it’s a fantastic place to shop!

After my review of the pharmacy I said that there would be a review of the grocery store and here it is… We are a family of two. We used to be a family of five. No drama here; children married and moved on. Our grocery needs changed, and with retirement came an opportunity to shop carefully. We have shopped at all of the stores in the Chico area and Safeway now ranks among the lowest of the stores we have tried. And the reason for that is the fact that their corporate policy seems to be to target the unwary shopper. For instance; I needed a dozen eggs a while ago and ran into Safeway(it was closest) and picked up the dozen, checking for broken shells and then, just as I was about to close the lid, I saw the price… it was almost $ 5 a dozen. Earlier that morning I had been to Trader Joe’s for some little thing and I had noted the price of eggs while I was there; $ 2.4 and some change. I dropped the eggs(figuratively and drove an extra mile to Trader Joe’s. I assumed that Safeway was targeting the harried homemaker who has very little time to shop. They don’t have the opportunity to price check around town. I saw the same kind of pricing in all of the basics. Milk, butter, bread and eggs. Almost always twice the price of TJ’s. I could go on and on with stories of Safeway’s policies and how they hurt the customer, but why bother; Safeway doesn’t care what I think… or what you think. TJ’s is a division of Aldi and Aldi is moving slowly, but surely, westward with their version of a supermarket. Safeway is bound to lose a lot of business when Aldi, with their version of customer service and pricing, moves into town. I can hardly wait!

I had a birthday cake made in the bakery at safeway on east ave for my 9 year olds birthday party. My daughter loves monster high. I explained what i wanted, but received so much more. My daughter and her friends where so surprised. She loved her cake. The cake not only look great but tasted great. I would like to thank the bakers for making my daughter so happy on her special day.

We don’t shop here much even though it’s the closest grocer to where we live … prices are higher on comparable items at Raley’s or Save Mart, but it’s handy in a pinch … we always buy gas there though as it’s usually in line with other value-priced stations like AM-PM … but, I have a comment about a recent visit — I had purchased five Bear Creek Gumbo mix packages — they’re easy to do and has a taste comparable to my grandmother’s(though no one cooks as good as your grandmother) and, as they’re relatively hard to find, I bought all they had … when I got home, however, I noticed a «puff» of the powder coming out of the tops of four of them and took them back two days later … the clerk refunded mu money(albeit at the $ 1 less sale price — they had gone on sale) and I saw him take them to the«back» area … I found them back on the shelf a few days later … that’s not a good practice …

It’s a Safeway, and everyone has opinions already about a large chain, but what makes this one special is how friendly the staff are! Even on bad days they are very helpful. Also, this Safeway makes the best sandwiches. Sorry mangrove Safeway! They need to step up their sandwich game. Anywho, I’ve been coming here since I was a young child and have never experienced bad customer service. I always feel comfortable at this grocery store.

Expensive. So expensive! I wish there were better prices, especially since it’s the closest store to us. BUT It has a very warm and welcoming environment. It also has a Starbucks and Jamba inside of it, which is awesome for shopping. Very nice staff, amazing sushi, and obviously, the Safeway sandwiches are amazing!

My experience brought me here at 9AM for when the pharmacy opens. I had a script sent in the previous night from an Emergency Care facility. My little month old burned his hand on some pizza sauce. Pharmacies were all closed so we had to wait for the AM. I was standing around waiting for the pharmacy gates to open, they were a few minutes later than 9 according to my phone. When you have a sad, crying little baby that just needs some burn cream every minute seems to drag on. Once they opened I was helped and they didn’t have the script ready. I didn’t expect that since they just opened and it was delivered overnight. They had to enter all my information into the system for insurance then they said they would have it ready shortly. I reminded them it was for my little baby and he really needed this soon. They were very nice and courteous. On a side note, I’m not sure what takes so long to prepare a script that is already prepackaged and sealed(it was a tub of ointment, nothing to measure out). But, alas, my poor little mind was racing as to what my little guy was doing in the car waiting for his cream. Turns out when you stand around waiting anxiously for something time goes a lot slower. I got the script, fair price, and got back to the my little baby 11 minutes after 9AM. Not long at all, it just seemed like it to me. They offered to help show me how to apply the cream, but I said I know how. He offered to let me come back later today when I wasn’t in a rush and the pharmacist could assist if I had any further questions. Good service. I’m pleased with this experience.

My rating is soley on the floral department! The lady who works there is RUDE! We asked her for a few pieces of baby’s breath and she told us NO, they were for other people! SHAMEONYOU! I will forever take my business elsewhere. It’s a damn good thing I am not a secret shopper! Safeway shouldn’t hire rude people for customer service.

The pharmacy department here is absolutely ridiculous they wouldn’t fill one of my prescriptions properly and told me they were unable to order the proper prescription for me, even after speaking to my doctor and the Safeway pharmacy in napa that I have been going to for years now. Worst service I have received from a pharmacy, and I’m in the health field and deal with them everyday, so that’s saying a lot… wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

I do like Safeway but oui… the prices are so very high compared to others. And the Safeway coupon app is a pain. This is a case that my card is more convenient than the phone app. Too bad!

Service beyond comparison, from Andrew in the fish counter. It was late on a Saturday evening and he had already put the fish away… and most likely had been warned not to work overtime. I wanted to buy 4 Dungeness crabs for a dinner party. Andrew was kind enough to go in the back and find four big ones and even cleaned them for me. All the while smiling and chatting. That’s the way it should be everywhere. Nice job Andrew, Good job, managers, you picked a good one.

It’s Safeway, so the selection can be a little poor on some things, and stock can be inconsistent. I suspect that, compared to other chains, they’re more willing to mess with the supply chain or cut off suppliers that won’t cut deals. That’s one of the prices of keeping the shelf price low. They do also have some nice discount super-sized generics for everyday items. I guess that’s just the thing if you need hand sanitizer by the liter. Or maybe you like to buy in bulk, but you’re not quite ready to commit to storing full pallets of toilet tissue in your home. That’s all pretty boiler plate for Safeway. The chain is largely the same wherever you go. This particular location is exceptionally clean and well-lit. Parking is ample. The staff seems pretty cheerful and articulate. There are also a few good restaurants, a barber shop, a UPS store and other goodies in the attached strip mall. It’s crowded and spaced out enough that it’s not ideal for the quick run for a single item, but it seems like a great spot for weekly shopping.

I don’t usually write reviews about huge grocery chains, but I thought it would be worth mentioning my HUGEDISSATISFACTION in the quality of their name brand labeled frozen meals.(SEEPHOTO). I thought I’d buy a few of their frozen Select Brand Orange Chicken meals. On the cover of the box it has a tastefully massive amount of food and inside the box I was surprised to find two(yes, two!) measley pieces of chicken and a sloth full of rice(the cheap stuff). Now, I can’t complain at $ 2.00, but let’s get real. I should have gone to Panda Express and had a crap-load of orange chicken for $ 6. Then cooked some rice and steamed some veggies and had a great meal. So, Safeway… quite trying to cheat the customer. We get that enough from fast food restaurants(has your burger ever looked like the one on the menu board??? I think not!!) Never again will I buy SELECT brand items. Cheap, yes. But you get what you pay for. Now…where are my chopsticks…

My friend brought me here so I could pet the produce. Instead we ended up coming out of there with one 99 cent cake, a bottle of wine, and two six packs. The produce took a back seat to the incredible beer selection and the aisle of tasty treats. Nice supermarket. If Whole Foods and Ralphs decided to merge and shake it up, this Safeway would be the spawn.

One of the very best all around grocery stores in California! Everyone who accompanied me shopping has loved this store. Most impressed were people from out of state who stared in awe at a wide variety of fresh produce, followed by aisle after aisle assortment of salad dressings w/wide selections to choose from.(We are a bit spoiled in CA). I enjoy the leisurely pace, clean floors, shelves always stocked and friendly helpful customer service! Full service store even has discount gas station on lot, now that’s convenience.
