Pullins Cyclery

Coming up to Chico state, I needed to get a bike to get around. After looking at a few bike shops, I decided to look into Pullins and was greeted with nice and friendly staff. I ended up purchasing a bike off of the Internet however I came back to buy a u-​lock and recently went back to have them fix something in my bike. Fair prices and great staff. Definitely would recommend this to anyone buying a bike.

Stopped in to inquire about a bike purchase. I was immediately greeted by a very kind and helpful sales person. She gave me lots of good recommendations and advice, even suggesting other options for a bike purchase when it was apparent they didn’t have what I needed. I would definitely go back for any other bike or bike related purtchases.

So I am kinda jaded because I have gotten to know the staff, BUT I sent i n a friend who was looking for a used like to take to Burning Man next month… As always, they listened to what the customer wanted and met the need and his budget… he couldnt stop talking about his experience. I was proud to refer him. They are working on a project for me and rather than spending boat loads of money, they always have cool recycled part that just MAKES my new ride individual… so they don’t have 100 new bikes to look at… Not even 50… They have the coolest selection of preowned bikes that will fit any budget… tx Steve, Dan, and Renee! Being a local biz owner, I really enjoy how they treat the public. I learn something about customer service EVERYTIME I go in…

Needed a flat fixed fast and this place took care of it pronto. $ 12 and we were out the door!

I took my bike in for a tune-​up when Dan noticed a crack in the frame. Steve at Pullins went above the call of duty to get my cracked frame replaced with a warranty frame. They were very helpful source of information regarding the various components/​needs for my bike. It is clear that they guide their business with a true passion for bikes and riding, which explains how they have been able to contribute to this community for so long. They exemplify how businesses should run by being dedicated to their community and using their knowledge to help others find a passion for biking.

These guys are super cool, but if you sell them a bike make sure you know how much the bike you are selling them is worth.

My one and only one-​day trip to Chico was greatly enhanced by the courtesy of Pullins Cyclery. I stayed overnight at a downtown hotel near Pullins to break up a long road trip. I desperately wanted to ride a bike around Bidwell Park, had not brought my own on this trip, and none of the bike stores that rented bikes opened before 10 AM, when I wanted to go out riding at 8 or 9 AM.
I hasten to say that what Pullins did for me is not What They Do, so please don’t presume that they will do it again. However, I’m writing this review because it says how awesome they are. I was at their door when they opened at 9 AM, with my own helmet and bike lock in hand, and asked if they would consider renting me a bike even though the Internet showed that’s not their thing. They said no, and I asked, what about loaning me a bike? The accommodation we came to is that I left them my driver’s license and a credit card, and they loaned me a used, for-​sale cruiser comfort bike for the morning.
As it happened, there was a dog show and fair and a farmer’s market going on in Bidwell Park that day. I had such a great time riding to the top of lower Bidwell Park, and going to the two events. It truly was a highlight of my three-​week road trip. I’m so grateful to Pullins for being flexible, and taking a calculated albeit collateralized risk on me, that they did not have to do, at all. They are good guys.

Dan is extremely knowledgeable about bicycle mechanics and got my well loved four year old mountain bike in brand new working condition for a veryyyy fair (and affordable for a student) price! They care to listen and want their customer to walk away satisfied. I would highly recommend them to anyone with a bicycle in Chico, in fact, my boyfriend and best friend will be bringing their bikes in within the next month! Keep up the hard work guys, it’s appreciated!

Steve was very helpful getting my old Supergo Mtn bike up and running again. Highly recommend this place to anybody needing quality service.

Great bike shop! We purchased a gently used Raleigh bike for my daughter. We put some new accessories on it (streamers, new grips and a kickstand) and my daughter is one happy girl. The guys in the shop were very friendly and helpful.

These guys are incredibly nice and helpful.
After biking downtown to a gas station with my girlfriend to clean our chains, we had grease all over our hands and everyone was driving around glaring daggers at us like we were some sort of abomination.
We went into Pullins and they let us use their amazing grease killing soap to clean our hands and changed our brake pads for an incredibly reasonable price.
Life saver — and super relaxing place to chill. They also threw in a Chico bike map and gave us the lay of the land.

I went into Pullins recently after finding them via web search. I had to see if all the 5 star reviews were justified. I had an issue with my bike and thought I needed some new tubes. The gentleman there was able to fix my bike in 4 min and didn’t even charge me. I decided to buy a lock from them because I wanted to support their business and I have already informed many family and friends of my experience with the and I will be a continued customer for life. Thank you Pullins for providing excellent customer service!

I love this bike shop. I bought my cruiser there when I started going to Chico State years ago. However, I have brought many bikes into this shop to be fixed. They will often help you without an appointment. They go out of their way to be helpful and don’t overcharge people. I would never take my bike anywhere else. Plus, I like supporting a downtown business that’s been there for so many years.

Steve and his staff put me and my family first. I have bought my last two bikes here.

I am a novice bicyclist, but got into the hobby when I moved to Chico for school. Pullins helped me find the perfect bike, set it up to my liking, and sold and installed all of my accessories for less than I ever would have imagined. The staff is nice, knowledgeable, unpretentious, and fun. This is the best bike shop in Chico.

I absolutely ADORE this shop. No snobbery here! Just good people who charge a fair price for a job well done. I have even gone in here for advice and they were incredibly helpful. If I could ask anything of my fellow « Unilocalers» I would ask them to support this bike shop. You cannot ask for a better place to have your bike repaired, as well as to shop.

I don’t even live in Chico — in fact I live 475 miles away, in Los Angeles — and I give this traditional bike shop a top rating. Service is fast and honest, prices are at least competitive if not better than other shops, and if they don’t have what you want, the staff can get it.
I first took my bike in for repair at Pullins about 1968. Yes, 1968, when I was a student at Chico State. I make my way back to Chico on occasion, at least once a year (I like to ride the Chico Wildflower Century), and I always try to say hello to the current owner — who is the reincarnation of the original Mr. Pullin — and his manager.
When I’ve been in town, I’ve had my bikes worked on in the shop a few times over the past few years, and I’m always happy with the results. So I’m not writing the review based on decades-​old memories, I’m commenting on the shop as it exists in the second decade of the 21^st century.
There are other fine bike shops in town. Pullins is without a doubt my favorite, because it has truly withstood the test of time, remaining just a good now as it was four and a half decades ago.

Ok. had the day off and decided to ride from one end of Chico to the other. By the time I got near CSU, I had a flat. Walked my bike over to Pullins Cyclery. I was in a pickle, I had left my wallet at home accidentally so that left me with a flat and no money.
But.the people at Pullins were great. They fixed my tire with a smile and were patient with me as I called my wife to pay by credit card over the phone. The gentleman who helped me didn’t seem annoyed at my wallet situation and acted like it was all in a days work. Let me tell you this, I appreciated it greatly and wont soon forget the help or great attitude. Thanks guys.

My wife’s bicycle got a flat, and asked me to bring it to Chico to get it repaired (I just couldn’t find time to do it myself).
I wheeled the bike into Pullins, and asked if they could repair the flat front tire.
I was told that if I had a couple of minutes, they could fix it while I waited… I did! I was expecting to drop it off and pick it up later. It’s fantastic that he had time to do it on the spot.
It took less than 10 minutes to get a new, heavy-​duty tube installed and the bike was back on the road (total cost: $ 14).
