Got a menu online, boy are the prices wrong!!! I ordered clam strips($ 6.95), calamari, popcorn shrimp and clam strips($ 9.95), and a sprite($ 1.75). They charged me $ 28.45. The clam strips were almost burnt. The calamari was only ok. Will not be back!!!

The best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Here is my reason for the 3 stars. I have been to the restaurant twice now and each time the food service has been very slow. And when I raised the issue with the cashier, our server’s already bad attitude just got dialed up a notch. They could have been having a bad day, but in the future I will have my meals to go, thank you very much.

Had the clam chowder… Expect more flavor for people to say it’s the best in town! I barely had any clams in mine! But I was in only for a quick bite between errands! I will have to come back to check out the rest of the menu some other time!!!

Was working at a job across the street and stopped in for a quick lunch. However, it was not very quick. Service is pretty slow. There’s only one waitress that I saw. It took a long time to put in my order and then food was slow. I ordered a 2 piece Alaskan cod fish and chips meal. And I was only able to inhale one piece of fish and some fries before I had to get back to work. I had an hour lunch too. Ugh. Took my food to go, paid quickly and left. Food was fresh from the fryer and hot. And fish was flaky and delicious. Just wish I had the time to enjoy it all.

New Year’s Eve — Placed a simple order to go at the restaurant, then was handed the bag and left without checking contents. My bad! No coleslaw, no crackers for chowder, no lemon juice for oysters, no utensils, no napkins and each oyster had a quarter-sized burned spot. On the positive side, friendly staff!

One of the only Fish places in Chico. The food is good, but the service is extremely slow.

Excellent food. Glad to find fish in Chico. Will definately be going back. Update: we went back over the weekend for dinner and it was super greasy. The first time we went for lunch it wasn’t greasy at all. It was perfect. The calamari was so good. We went back for dinner on a Friday night and the calamari was greasy. Is there really that much difference between the day and night chef??? Unfortunately, we won’t be back for dinner. Lunch only unless you like greasy fried food.

My boyfriend and I were both craving clam chowder bread bowls with side salad on the first cool fall day of the year. We called a couple other places in town, and nobody seemed to have this on their menu on any day except a Friday! The waitress was friendly and attentive! About 5 minutes after ordering, our salads arrived and we were also informed they were out of the bread bowls, but they were baking us fresh ones, and we’d have our bread bowls with soup in about 20 min. Wasn’t excited about waiting, but fresh, warm sourdough bread bowl filled with creamy soup was better than expected and was worth the wait!

Great chowder for it being a chowder house in Chico, Ca. Prices are reasonable and the food is good. Great lunch spot if you want decent seafood for a decent price.

We have eaten here twice. Once as a party of 3 and once as party of 12. Both times we enjoyed the food. The fish tacos are a great deal and very good. The clam chowder and fish and chips are very good. The Calamari strips are not the little rings and tentacles, but strips of thick calamari steak. It was good but I prefer the little rings. It is a simple restaurant and nice servers.

Ordered Alaskan Cod fish and chips, which came with a side of coleslaw. Husband had the halibut burger. Kids had a grilled cheese. There isn’t much of a kid’s menu. I hate to say it, but it wasn’t amazing. I like going out where I can tell some creative thought has been put into the kid’s menu. The fish and chips I had were okay. Positives: super nice server, they have a public restroom. Negatives: carpeted floor covered in food remnants and trash(YUCK. We were there around 6:45 pm), décor dated, establishment didn’t feel clean to me, bathroom had one stall, kid’s menu was lacking creativity(for me). I was surprised because my mom enjoys going to the Paradise location.

Hubby and I walked here for dinner from our house. I got the clam chowder bread and a salad. The soup was homemade but lacked flavor, the salad had zucchini instead of cucumber. My hubby got the fish and chips and it was more like fish jerky! It was awful! The waiter was nice oh and the beer tasted so old. Will not be going back.

I gave this place a 4 because out of the choices here in Chico it stands out but if I was rating it compared to all the fish & chips I’ve had, and I’ve had them in London, this is a 3 star place. Overall I think it is good. Little pricey. Took a long time to get our order taken and get our food(Big minus in my book-service is key). But if you want some fish & chips in Chico this is a good option. There are other places but I would only recommend the fish & chips at Sierra Nevada. I had the #3 Combo — Cod & Clam Strips with a small bowl of clam chowder. All of it was good. I ate every last bit. I would go again.

Pelican’s Roost Chowder House is a solid place for clam chowder. Food: I ordered the clam chowder and fish tacos. After a couple of days of subpar food, this food was like the light at the end of a dark tunnel. Although not the best clam chowder and fish tacos, it was tasty. Side Notes Ambiance: The restaurant is a pretty decent size and they weren’t busy during lunch time. Service: The staff was very friendly. Overall: I was craving clam chowder, so this place hit the spot!
