Liberty Cab

First, there was no confirmation phone-​call the morning of the pick-​up, as promised. The confirmation call for my ride home came when I was in flight — rather ineffective. When I returned exhausted from my dad’s funeral, I spent a solid hour of back-​and-​forth phone-​calls with Liberty Cab dispatch, and then the boss. Though I’d mistakenly said I’d arrive Alaska vs American, both have a taxi waiting area at Terminal one, and the airlines are side-​by-​side. This should not have caused problems. Plus I quickly corrected myself with Liberty dispatch and continued to walk around looking for my ride. After several phone-​calls, I was told that the driver instructed me to find her at Southwest’s Taxi area (Terminal Two). She claimed she was kicked out of the taxi area at Terminal One. I argued that I couldn’t even see Southwest and requested her to meet me where I was. Yet I was told I had no choice. Fed up and desperate to get home, I asked an airport employee where to find Southwest. When I explained my situation, he promised to help me secure a more reasonable way home. This can’t be common practice for Liberty cab to ask its passengers to schlepp their luggage across the airport for a ride home for which they’d pay $ 150 plus tip. Right? Then followed a competition among taxi drivers at Saco airport for my business, an offer for a ride home at $ 220, a suggestion I partake in negotiations, inquiries regarding my financial status, and some enraged foul language for their enjoyment — from this 4’8″ woman.
Apparently the Liberty driver was told by the cab drivers at Saco Airport Terminal one that she couldn’t park there, unless she was driving a cab. Hmm, she was. But she moved, and she thought it fine to require me to walk across the airport. When we finally connected, the Liberty driver was clearly upset and emphasized several times that she’d prolonged her day and had been waiting on me. She also said she’d never again do an airport pick-​up. Despite the fact that I’d told her I’d returned from my dad’s funeral, and I really had no reason to apologize, I was much more apologetic than she. Really, in this economy, is this the best you can do at hiring? At any rate, some common courtesy, common sense, and tightened communication is needed. The customer should come first. The customer should not have to go through such stressful circumstances for a ride home from the airport, especially not in the aftermath of having to bury a loved one.

If I could give this company negative stars I would. Today I’m at rite aid on mangrove. Man in front of me in line at pharmacy nearly falls over so I help to the front of the store and call him a taxi per his request. I called Liberty who said 5 – 6 minutes and I explained in full detail he needed the driver to come in and let him know he was there. He has epilepsy and had run out of his medication and can not wait outside with nothing to sit on. I get him a chair inside, the wonderful staff at rite aid get him water do he can take his meds and I head back in line to get my stuff. As I’m doing so, Liberty taxi calls and says they are there. I explain I’m no longer with the man and for the driver to please go inside to let him know. She says of course, she will let the driver know. Then I go up front to purchase a few more items and find the same man still waiting. The taxi never came. I called and they said the driver wasn’t obligated to go inside. Screw you Liberty. I’ll never use or recommend your cab service to anyone and I will go out of my way to tell others why they shouldn’t use you. You suck worse than most anything.
So they absolutely fixed their issue and now I’d say I’d recommend them. Way to go Liberty!

I have been living in Chico on and off the last 15 years. Tonight I called a cab to keep the party going and to pick up another bottle. The cab driver Oscar, picked me up very quick. I advised him I wanted to go to the safeway on nord. While we were driving I realized Rays was open. Oscar immediately took his safest u-​turn. When we pulled into Rays, I realized my second problem. My new micro-​chip debit card NEVER works at Rays. Instead of Oscar squeezing a few more dollars out of me, he insists for me to get cash back from him. Long story short the Rays liquor guy gives me a deal on a bottle of Jameson. And Oscar went above and beyond to save me some loot. I always try to use Liberty Cabs when they are not crazy busy. I have used them for almost 10 years. But my experience tonight was the first to entice me to review this company. Thank you Oscar, and thank you Liberty!

If you want a cab to actually pick you up, don’t call Liberty!
Called and they said they would pick up within 20 minutes. On a Tuesday. I mean come on.
Waited over an hour.
Never showed.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! Needed to be picked up from Walmart with a group of friends and groceries and cab took 2 hours to get there (it was also 100 degrees outside today). Completely unacceptable and when we called to see where our cab was, the people over the phone were incredibly rude and hung up on us. Mind you, the taxi drivers are incredibly nice and our driver only asked for the $ 5 min but the actual company itself is completely rude.

I use their app and get a cab fairly quickly. They’re available 24/​7, the drivers are friendly and you can pay with a credit card. Convenient way for me to get around Chico.

I’m officially deleting liberty from my contacts. I’ve never seen such a complacent cab company in my life, if über existed here it would destroy liberty… good luck, use yellow cab, the drivers/​company are much more useful

On the ride getting to where we were going they even showed up a little early. On the ride back they were about 15 minutes later than what they had told us, but on both rides the two young men were very pleasant and drove well. I would highly recommend.

I got rid of my car over a year ago, so I’ve used Liberty Cab quite a bit. They’re very reliable, and usually are able to get to me in less than 15 minutes. The cabs are clean. The trunks are huge. The drivers are pleasant. I recommend them.

I have had multiple opportunities to use taxi services throughout the United States. I have never had better, prompt, friendly and professional service. Ever. I am sorry I did not get my first driver’s name but he was also as excellent as Erik, Brandi and Jonathan. Super service folks. Thank you!

I think this taxi service is great! They don’t take long to get to you and they’re very friendly! The cab is clean and they’re the ones I call if I ever need a taxi :)!

This Co. is no good. 2 times we have called for a cab. We were told 20 min. Wait for a cab. Ok, we can wait 20 min. Nope 40 min. Later still waiting. Use another cab company if possible. One who gives accurate wait times.

I had a positive experience overall. The driver was really polite and friendly. The cab was clean and well maintained. Price was competitive but not as economical as some. And, the service was very prompt.

Literally the worst service I’ve ever experienced with a taxi company. For some reason I have continued to use them after about 7 times calling and asking for a VAN taxi, and then having a car taxi show up. Being told a cab will show up in 5 – 10 minutes and waiting for close to 45 minutes is a regular with this garbage company. Call another cab company, any cab company. Pay a homeless person to borrow their bike to ride home and you will be more satisfied than using Liberty Cab.

Horrible service all around. We called for a van and they sent a car. 1 hour late to a 3 hour event. The driver was so rude and called one of the passengers a B***H in the second car they sent (another 30 min late). He also told us to not even bother calling the dispatch because the lady running it is the girlfriend the owner of the company, and she won’t help anyone because she knows she won’t lose her job. She was a horrible person to talk to, so rude, and no help. Everyone we dealt with in this company was a P.O.S.
I’d rather walk to where I’m going barefoot in a sea of legos than to call these scumbags again.

You know that Family Guy episode where the guy is on the cell phone in the elevator? «You’re breaking up, you’re breaking up, can you hear me? Can you hear me? Can you hear me now?» That was my cab driver yesterday. Seriously, I come out of the bank and he’s on the phone. Ok, cab drivers often take calls. It was once he explained to the woman on the phone that he didn’t have money for her and then asked her to babysit that I realized it was a personal phone call… That lasted near the entire duration of the cab ride, which is whatever, not there to socialize… All right.
BUT THEN, after he gets off the phone (I’m trying to give him directions this entire time while feeling ignored and taking the LONG way to my house, BECAUSE I’m being ignored) he then proceeds to CHECK HIS MOTHERFUCKING FACEBOOK while driving. He’s commenting back to people, checking out pictures, all kinds of nonsense. When you drive for a living, how can you feel that it’s SAFE with a PASSENGER IN THE CAR, to check your Facebook at the wheel?! I have never received such awful service from a cab company before, even Liberty Cab so it’s unfortunate that I will never use them again for fear of getting Tim as a driver, once more.

Worst service ever. Called for 6 people. Told 20 mins. Called back 35 mins later, told they would be here in 10 mins and verified that it was a van– then was told that they had to find a van and that would be another 10 mins. AN HOUR later, we are getting into a different cab companies car. If you don’t have the proper cars available, don’t give a bullshit time frame and say that you going to get someone there. If I could give 0 stars I would.

I used Liberty Cab a few times a month for more than a year. The drivers are generally prompt, friendly and articulate, and the cars are clean. Dispatch does a reasonable job of estimating arrival times to within ten minutes or so with the occasional miss.
Some taxi services are pretty bad about taking long routes, but even when it was clear that I was new to Chico the drivers took reasonable routes. There was one occasion where the driver missed a few turns, but he reduced fare without my saying a word about it.
The drivers have been good about parking and waiting for short grocery trips and even a haircut. If it’s not a busy part of the day they may be happy to have the guaranteed continued fare and on a few occasions they didn’t even charge me the wait fee. Other times it was the standard rate listed on their dash. Unlike other cities, they never outright refused to wait.

Sometimes I hire this cab company and the cabbie comes on time and is a safe driver who gets me where I need to go in a reasonable amount of time. The two stars are for those drivers.
Unfortunately the majority of the time that I call this company the dispatcher is RUDE AS HELL, she has cussed out my sister (who is a physically disabled adult) and my nephew and myself. The times are RARELY correct, and they have multiple times left me and my disabled sister in the cold (which aggravates her injury) for an obscene amount of time. I can’t stand any cab company that puts calls into an order based on how often someone calls them, rather than the order received. This isn’t a one-​time thing, this has happened several times. A few of them even in summer. You try waiting outside for a cab in 115 degree heat with a spinal injury. See how thrilled you are.
We may not use a cab service as often as their «regulars» but that doesn’t make our money or our time any less valuable. This is not a company I would ever recommend nor will I be using them ever again.

I hired liberty cabs to transport guests for a birthday bar crawl. The cabbies were hilarious and one of the best parts of the party and the process of getting them was very easy. Much more cost efficient than a limo and they were way more fun.
The only negative was that they waited over 2 months to cash the check that I wrote which is annoying to me.
Overall the experience was a good one and I would recommend them but pay in cash since they don’t accept credit or debit.
