Dr. Eric Eltzroth at Philadelphia Square Dental Care takes special care to ensure everyone feels relaxed and comfortable while in the office. We have heated, massaging dental chairs with overhead TVs in all the rooms. With Chico’s only waterlase dental laser, we can do fillings without the drill and often without the need for needles! Sedation is offered for those who need additional help relaxing. All aspects of general dentistry including mini implants, traditional implants, root canals, invisalign, lumineers, wisdom tooth removal, dentures, partials, bridges, laser cleanings, cosmetic dentistry, 6 month smiles, crowns, and veneers can be completed in our office. We accept most insurance payments as well as offer the CareCredit payment plan. We know dentistry can be expensive and frightening, but we try our best to make dentistry affordable and pleasant for everyone. Come in and let us give you something to smile about!

Dr. Eltzroth is from Springboro, Ohio. After graduating from Purdue University with his BS degree in Biology, Dr. Eltzroth attended the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He then went on as an officer in the U.S. Air Force to a year-​long advanced education in general dentistry residency. Very few dentists go through this advanced training, which gave Dr. Eltzroth the skills he needed to be able to perform so many aspects of dentistry. Dr. Eltzroth served at Wright Patterson AFB, Bolling AFB, and the Pentagon. He was involved with opening the new tri-​service clinic in the Pentagon and completed his commitment there. He then joined the U.S. Public Health Service and was chosen to serve on the Dental Professional Advisory Committee to the US Surgeon General — one of only a handful of dentists chosen nation-​wide for this committee. Dr. Eltzroth then purchased a practice in Chico and left the Federal Government to raise his family here.

These people are crooks and the receptionist left me a rude voicemail. $ 250 for a missed appointment because I had a family emergency and was unable to call to cancel. Terrible business ethics. The hygienists are nice enough, but I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

This guy is the worst! Avoid all costs! Now only did his assistant screw up my friends teeth, not only did the caps kept falling out, she had to make an emergency appointment with another dentist to fix them. When my friend confronted him about it he threatened to sue her. No respectable dentist would behave this way. He’s still trying to get full payment for a job that was never completed. Save your money, save your teeth and save your time by going to a better more professional dentist. She has contacted a lawyer to weigh her options.

The best dentist I’ve had this far! His assistants are personable and Kari at the front desk is very sweet and knowledgable. Office has overhead tvs and heated massage chairs. Awesome environment. Very relaxing.

It’s all about the money for this dentist. I was way over-​charged for a procedure which insurance dictated what I should pay, and he tried to use a coconut shell game when billing the insurance. No pre-​auth was done by them so shame on me for trusting them. ALWAYS get a pre-​auth folks and ALWAYS establish EXACTLY what it will cost BEFORE the work is done. They took my money 100% up front in full for a procedure which was only half done, without considering what insurance would cover, saying «you’ll get some of it back when we bill insurance later for the rest of the procedure». It is actually borderline criminal since the consumer has zero per-​view into insurance codes and they played an intentional shell game. They had to actually re-​bill the insurance claim so as not to appear fraudulent by a major insurance company for which they are in the plan network. I am now going to have to go to the CA Dental Board as well as file a law suit to recoup the money owed to me (not small $$) for an unfinished procedure as I continue to get statements from them, indicating they are looking for me to pay even more. The sad part is I was a patient when Dr. Eltzroth had just moved from Ohio quite some time ago, when he had very few patients because I wanted to help him to get his practice established. At that time, he seemed like a pretty reasonable guy and I had lots of family in Ohio so we had some common ground. But it’s clear in the time that has passed since he opened his first office here in Chico, that the business of being a dentist has overtaken him and the money is the #1 motivator. I am going to give them an opportunity to reach an amicable agreement and return some money back to me and correct this before I take further action as I can’t stand still based on what has transpired, neither in principle or financially as I need to get the work finished. I will report back here on how they handle it. So far, not so good on their part.

We thought he was an excellent dentist while we were going to him, always friendly and professional. The office staff was very nice and helpful. Now that we have move and switched dentists, both my husband and I have multiple fillings and crowns that he did for us that are already broken or were poorly done that need to be replaced (all less than 8 years old). Costing us a lot of money to fix the same problems all over again.

The BEST dentist I have ever been too! I have been going for two years and they offer the best customer service and the best dental assistance!!! Every time I visit, Mandy has been my dental hygienist and she does a fabulous job, always remembers about what was going on in my life last time I visited, and is always on time. I had a small cavity and Shannon did an incredible job of setting me at ease and explaining how they would fix it. I was SOOOOO impressed with Dr. Eltzroth and his water-​laser technique for repairing the cavity. Under 40 min from time in to exiting, no needles, no pain, no discomfort, and all during my lunch. I have recommended them to everyone I know!

I was nervous about searching for a new dentist in Chico since I had been going to the same dentist my whole life in my hometown. However, after reading some reviews I chose to go to Dr. Elzroth. His staff and he were very kind and professional. He answered all my questions and the staff gave me an estimate of how much my bill would be for my next visit. They have nice massaging chairs, and a TV you can watch while they work on your teeth. I had a great experience here and will be returning!

The first time I visited dr elzroth I had broken a tooth and was in great pain. I called and was seen the same day. My broken tooth needed to be extracted and the staff and dr elzroth made me feel very at ease despite my anxiety. I’ve since been back for more work and could not be happier with the level and quality of care I have received.

I used to see Dr. Elzroth when I lived in Chico, and LOVED going there! I chipped two of my teeth a few years ago, and Dr. Elzroth and his staff did a great job fixing them. People couldn’t even tell they were veneered. So why the three star review? Now a few years later and my front tooth chipped three weeks before my wedding. I called in and spoke with an incredibly unpleasant and rude receptionist about the warranty on the veneers, and whether or not they would be able to fix them. She couldn’t answer any of my questions, and didn’t seem interested in helping me. Turns out they offer a year warranty, and a smaller percentage each year after. To sum it all up:
Great dentist and office, minus the rude receptionist (she could learn what customer service is). Great for general maintenance, but I would probably go somewhere else for and cosmetic needs. Most places offer a 5 year warranty on veneers.

I am fairly new to Chico and decided to give Dr. Elzroth a try for a crown replacement. My experience was positive from beginning to end. They got me in quickly and the care I received was excellent.
The staff is friendly and accommodating. I am a big chicken about dental work, and they explained options for sedation thoroughly and compassionately. I chose nitrous oxide and it worked great. Dr. Elzroth is knowledgeable and kind, very low key. I have been to dentists before who were rude to their assistants, which is uncomfortable. Not so here. The staff seems to work really well as a team.
Pluses include heated/​massage chairs, ceiling mounted television, and PPO status for Delta insurance holders, which increases the benefit amount. Awesome!
I would recommend Dr. Elzroth to anyone!

horrible experience with dr eltzroth… every time. the dr eltzroth is rude and does not listen to patients. i had a filling done by him and it hurt for months after and even after going back twice within the first month, he would not fix it and said it looked «fine». time for a different dentist to fix what he messed up!

My husband and I and our two children, 12 and 5 recently switched dentists due to an insurance change. I did a lot of research, reading reviews and asking around trying to find a good family dentist where my whole family would feel comfortable. I have not had good luck in Chico finding a dentist who is set up to deal with very young children and adults, it seems to be either one or the other.
Every one of us has seen Dr. Eltzroth for check ups and cleanings in the past week and we have all been very happy with the experience. Dr. Eltzroth and his staff are friendly and professional and our appointments were on time.

Well, I definitely cracked the tooth mentioned in first review and it was not salvageable, so am undergoing treatment to replace my tooth with an implant. While expensive, I have received prompt, professional and friendly service. Dr. Eltzroth answered my emergency call in the middle of the night and called in a script right away. I have confidence my surgery will be successful as the first surgery to prep me to receive the implant went well. Cleanings for my family’s teeth have been thorough and the hygienists are very nice and helpful. Kari is very helpful and always greets me and gives me an update on status of my care. I typically can’t even turn on my Kindle to read as I am called in quickly.
I am scheduled within appropriate time frames and because my procedure is a pricey one the staff directed me to CareCredit for interest free help with the expense. This entity can be used to pay for other health care needs as well. And, yes, his office is gorgeous and I like it that way as the plasma TV and massage chairs are relaxing to me for procedures that I know are stress-​inducing. Kudos to Dr. E. for recognizing that these are a nice treat for his patients.

I decided I needed a new dentist after my last guy was so busy he couldn’t schedule me for a cleaning for over three months. Got a referral and went to see this guy.
Pros:
This guy has impressive credentials and seems to know his stuff. His work on me seemed to be spot on and subsequent visits for cleaning were incredibly professional and totally lacking the Dom/​Sub quality of some other hygienists I’ve had occasion to be worked on by. Also, Dr. E has installed a state of the art Electronic Medical Record for his practice with fully electronic X-​ray. This is an incredibly smart move on his part and a real boon to patients.
Cons:
Dr. E’s promotional and privacy practices are incredibly cookie cutter and NOT in the interests of his patient. Read them carefully and be very informed about what you are signing. I was forced to make modifications to his overly broad forms. To be honest, he’s taking recommendations from his professional association so you can’t be too hard on him for this but you need to call him on it. Stand up for your rights and establish a firm relationship with him.
Time will tell but I expect that after subsequent visits I will need to revise my review and rate him much higher. If the overall experience continues to be as good as what I’ve had so far then I won’t be able to continue the downgrade because of my concerns about his poor judgement about his privacy forms.
