I’ve been a digital path customer for over 5 years now. Their service has gotten steadily worse over time. I paid $ 100 each for 2 «tree climbing» antenna placements, only to be finally told that I didn’t need either one. Though I paid for 10MB service, I never saw it reach over 6MB, in spite of many tech support and service calls. Last year, service was so bad that I complained until they sent a tech for a visit. That resulted in a new antenna and sporadic service and connection for October/​November, and then zero service for December. No internet service. None.
Now their new usage «plans» have a total usage cap, that you cannot gauge or monitor. Just one fine day you are switched to slower than dial-​up speeds… And there’s no way to know if it’s (another) system failure or if you exceeded the cap.
Today I spent over an hour on the phone with their Support Staff (2 calls). They tried different settings, and finally said «we don’t know why it’s so slow, must be radio interference at the tower, because we tested several other users and they all had the same slow-​speed problem.» Not that any of us had our service fixed, just that a problem exists. And no estimate for repair.
If you have ANY choice other than Digital Path, take it.

I’m happy to revise my review. After weeks of calling this company, they came out and replaced our dish. Apparently, they recieved a «bad batch» of dish antennas. Since they replaced that dish our download and upload speeds have been as advertized and consistent. It took months of calling them but things have been working well the past 3 months.

Boooooooooooo!!! Always dropping out and nobody cares. Look at your Unilocal page!!! Act like a business who wants to make a profit! Nobody is saying anything good about you guys! Unbelievable… rip off… stay away… go without Internet… it’s better than paying 70 a month and HOPING that when you get home from work, the services will be available to you. I have friends and family over for the holidays and nobody can go online even though I’m paying my BILLS on time every month for years. I’m a loyal customer and I only get a dirty diaper in return from you guys. My next billing cycle I’m out! Hope you guys bankrupt! With that kind of service, you guys deserve to go down the toilet. Digital path is FRAUD!

I live in Browns Valley, CA and Digital Path is unfortunately one of the only internet service providers that I have to choose from. After reading other the other reviewer’s complaints, I have decided to not elaborate as much as I was going to initially. But I am having the same issues as most of the reviewers. I am constantly resetting my router throughout the day. My upload speed and download speed are both horrible. My phone service never works because of the difficulties of my internet connection. Customer service is very difficult to work with. I certainly hope that we all will have a better option to choose from in the near future.

Only more sob stories to report. If and when we have any other option we will bail on this crummy company. They used to be ok but we have hardly had service for the last couple of months. Over and over our calls to them result in NOTHING. Their techs just string us along. Once they even said they would «watch» it for us. Gee thanks! We can watch our wifi go in and out all by ourselves. We need you to FIX it. And the next service appointment is a month out. So we will just put our home business and our daughters high school online education on hold for a month. That’s a great idea. I doubt anything will change but we don’t know what else to do. You can bet we will keep looking for another provider.

I called DP to set up payment for when I got paid. Imagine my surprise the next day when I found I was overdrawn. Called DP again and was told yes the money was taken out of the account and they had no idea what happened, the correct date was in the notes. Three days ago my service went out and after trying to fix it remotely i was told i needed to schedule a service call I called scheduling and was told it will be three weeks until they can get out here. Really three weeks!!! Asked to speak to a supervisor and was told one was not available i could leave a message. To top it off they are raising the rates in January. This is my only option. When another is available I will be canceling this service.

I don’t usually write reviews but we wasted so much money on this service that I want to warn others. We were unable to stream any programs for 8 months. I would call and email and they never offered to send a tech out to see what the problem could be. We just signed with a new company and the service is wonderfu! I was extremely disappointed in every aspect of this company so 1star.

Been with Digital Path for over 5 years and I can honestly say I am looking forward to the day AT&T comes in.
DP used to be good, the last 6 months have been horrible. Their service is getting worse and their solution is to put a cap on usage. So when you up your service to one that cost more to get a higher data cap and the service is still terrible. 10mbps plan and I have been lucky to hit 3mbps lately.
So after 20 minutes on hold today at 5 they hung up on me. Gotta love the customer service.

Hard to imagine a less responsive company. 4 weeks ago I paid Digitalpath to have the antenna moved as the access point on Mt Hough has been problematic. Pointed me at another access point on Silver Circle. Speed looked good, but with a few days connection kept dropping out.
3 weeks of calling and the same technicians doing the same things and telling me its fine. Come Friday December 4^th finally a technician can see how often I get kicked off. Internet now down totally. Tech suggested there may be a cable problem and for me to go check. Cables looked fine, however the new junction box they installed in my neighbors yard on the tree, was wide open to elements for the last 4 weeks.
December 17^th until they can get someone out to fix this. As for speaking to someone in authority, all messages are unanswered. I’m contacting the CEO Jim Higgins.

I can’t wait till our year contract is up with Digital Path so I can get a new provider. About 1 – 3 times a month I have to call tech support because my internet is so slow. I use internet to stream videos mostly, check Facebook and email. But when I cannot even open a webpage and it takes 1 – 2 minutes to download, I should just pay for dial up speeds. Tech support always does their job, but on average it takes me 30 minutes to speak to someone. That is a really long time if you’re at work on lunch trying to make a call to them. I’ve also had bad experience with their customer service, where the woman just said «I don’t know» when asked various questions. Even after asking when I could talk to the manager she replied «I don’t know». Save your money and go with any other company. Digital Path has been as waste of my money and time.

It is hard to add much to what others have said. To summarize, STAY AWAY. They are currently the only option for us where we live, but the service is just so terribly bad we will have to cancel as it is just spending money for nothing. I have to use my Verizon hotspot constantly if I ever want to get anything done. I have a very clear and direct line of sight to their tower. I can see the tower and the antenna on it with the naked eye from my yard — it is extremely close.
Still, even being very close and with a clear line of sight, it is extremely unreliable, with outages all the time. When it is «working» (if you can really call it that), it often barely works with speeds lower than dial-​up many times. Just for laughs, try emailing their support team and see how many days it will take for them to respond — for me, usually at least 2 weeks if they ever respond at all. Then try and call their support team and see how long you have to wait on hold to talk to anyone (an hour is not unusual). Or better yet, try and call at an «off hour», as they simply don’t have support available all the time. If this were a big provider like Comcast providing this kind of service, the FCC would have already fined them and put them out of business.
All that said, we will probably be paying a huge amount of money to have AT&T run a new line from over a mile away, and pay for business service with them to get the speeds we need. DigitalPath offered to provide us business service too, at a cost higher than AT&T, for slower speeds and terrible customer service. I think I will pass on that. I recommend you do the same, and find another provider or just go without — it’s not worth it.

Terribly inconsistent service. Had to cancel when our service would be at less than 1 mps during the day, but 4 – 5 early morning. It became apparent they oversold beyond their capacity.

Okay where do I start?
The new house I moved into already had a satellite installed from the previous tenants. It also had the power adapter, cords, etc. I just need to call tech support to ‘activate’ they told me. So after being quoted $ 85 a month for service, and a one time $ 65 ‘activation fee’ I decided since this is literally my only option for internet, I would just do it. I called to activate, and while I was on the phone, the POE power adapter just stopped working. Light was on, then it was off. They told me I had to schedule a tech to come out and bring me a new one… and the I HAD TO PAY $ 50 for the tech to come out. Nice.
I ended up buying a new POE on Amazon for $ 12 instead and called to start the ‘activation’ over again. They started by telling me I couldn’t use an adapter that wasn’t theirs, which is not correct. (I carefully bought the EXACT same brand, wattage, etc. for this reason.) When I told them this they said, «Okay, then I guess its alright.» Hmmmm. Then I said I didn’t want to pay $ 50 for a new POE adapter when I could just order one and the tech told me that the company usually mails them to customers and they shouldn’t have told me I need a tech to come out for this. ???
At this point, everything was connected with power but then they said the satellite was getting a signal at all. So then this tech told me I DID need to schedule a tech for $ 50 to come out and fix the issue. I scheduled the 1pm-​5pm time slot for the first available appointment which was a week away. I requested the day off from work (since I work an hour away and cannot just pop home) and waited patiently for a tech to come out that day.
Day of my appointment I am waiting and get a phone call at 4:15pm…the customer service rep tells me she’s sorry she didn’t call earlier, but my tech called in sick that day and no one would be coming out. THIS WAS AT 4:15PM!!! GAHHH!!! I was so frustrated I took off work and waited all day for someone to call me 45 minutes before my appointment window was over. She then tells me she can get someone out the next day-couldn’t do it, I had to work and couldn’t request the day off again. Then she told me the next available was the following week. I told her Friday was the only day I could do it and she said techs don’t come to my area that day. I told her I couldn’t take off from work again and she said she would just go ahead and schedule Friday.
I then get a phone call a few days later from their scheduling department, and the lady tells me that no techs come to my area on Friday and they need to reschedule me AGAIN. I explained to her the situation from when my tech didn’t show up and she had no idea what I was talking about and then just told me they would figure it out and keep the Friday appt.
So I wait a few days and in the process, check out Unilocal reviews, and ask around my area about the service. Ultimately the feedback was not good from anyone so I decided $ 85 for shotty service anyway was not worth it. Plus, I already had unreliable and inconsistent customer service up to now. So, on Monday I called and CANCELED my appointment and set up and decided not to go forward with service with DigitalPath. The lady on the phone said she would cancel the tech and the account.
Fast forward to FRIDAY-​the day of my now canceled appointment. ‘Knock, knock?’ ‘Who’s there?’ ‘THE DIGITALPATH TECH!!!’ I couldn’t help but laugh. This poor guy just drove all the way from Chico to an appointment that I had canceled 5 days before. (Suuuuper nice guy by the way.) I felt bad for him, as I explained to him that I had canceled and then told him about my experience thus far with DigitalPath. He nicely went on his way and apologized for the inconsistent service. He told me if I ever change my mind in the future, to ask for him personally.
So, if any of this feedback is read by DigitalPath…
1) You really should keep extensive notes of who called your customers, when, and what was discussed. This way several different people aren’t calling the customer with conflicting information and not knowing what was already told to them.
2) It is super unprofessional to cancel an appointment so late in the day when your tech called in sick that day. First thing in the morning you should call your customers.
3) Don’t try and nickel & dime people, period. If your equipment fails, then you should replace it on your dime. Not the customers.
4) COMMUNICATE with your team. Poor tech who drove out 2 ½ hours was clearly never told I canceled.

The internet service is terrible, especially after 6pm and then it gets even worse after 10pm. I don’t know why its better during the day? Since Digital Path is the only provider in Quincy, we don’t have a choice, but as soon as we do I would switch to someone else.

My mother uses their service and she’s been offline for over 10 days now, she believes their support tech hung up on her, they sure aren’t fixing anything fast. Not good service, dudes.

UPDATE: Well yet again DigitalPath is down. In the past few months the service has gotten progressively worse, especially after 5pm. I realize that is peak time, but it was never so slow. Plus it will randomly go out and back on over the course of an hour sometimes.
The internet quality from DigitalPath is so sporadic. Sometimes it great and fast, while others its very slow. Anytime the weather gets bad, the internet will either go out or slow to a crawl. I’m not even joking. If its snowing, heavy rain, or really windy my internet goes out or slows down to the point of being unusable. The tech support has always been helpful and the installers are fine but if they need to send someone out to your house to do a repair you will wait at least a week in most cases.

I’m so frustrated with Digital Path! It hardly ever works anymore. I pay $ 55.00 a month and it works maybe 72 hours out of the whole week. I am taking college course that require work to be submitted at certain times. For some reason never works when I need it. I have to drive out of town and find a business with wifi! This costs me gas money!!!
Their IT guy sucks! There tech department does not care! I wish there was a negative star to give!

With rural broadband that as a rule delivers speeds close to those promised, Digital Path stands head and shoulders above
who deliver speeds much, much slower than advertised.
Your mileage may vary. The caveat seems to be hether you’ve got line of sight to the tower or not. If you are on a lateral «bounced» network, you may experience poor performance. If you’ve got line of sight and are within a reasonable distance– say 4 miles– from the antenna, you should be good if my experience can be relied upon as an indicator.
The worst feature of Digital Path is customer service– particularly tech support. Techs are polite and helpful, generally resolving issues fairly quickly and satisfactorily, but the wait times to speak with a tech rep are extraordinarily long and DP shows no inclination to remedy this glaring insufficiencly in their business.
If you’ve got a good alternative to DP, like in metro areas, I’d strongly consider them to avoid the preposterously protracted and potentially prorogated waiting periods populated with perpetually putrid pop pieces playing precariously, even perilously with your sanity.

Wow, its hard to even summarize how bad this service is. As I write this using my 4G Verizon network I have been on hold close to two hours for yet another failure. Unfortunately we live in an area where no other service is possible. I’ve had Comcast and ATT in other cities. They were not perfect but they were leaps and bounds more reliable. It seems that we have weekly service interruptions with Digitalpath. We consistently get slower service than what we pay for. When we call to complain the service is better for maybe a few days and eventually slows to a halt or stops working.
I am hoping some day we have access to something better. It’s a joke the USDA gave this company a grant, a noncompetitive grant at that, essentially shutting out competition yet the service has never improved in the slightest. We have begrudgingly used this provider for it is our only option besides no connectivity. This isn’t a new problem or a misunderstanding… we have with frustration dealt with this crap for two and a half years. We live right down the road from a business that uses Comcast and for some reason we are in a miniscule zone making other providers impossible.
If we ever have another option our money will be going elsewhere. Use this service at your own risk.

I really hope another internet provider is available soon in my area because this company is garbage.
