History

Established in 2008.

Janet Lombardi Blixt started Chico Art School to share her passion for the arts with the Chico community. She has been voted by the Chico News & Review «Best Visual Artist» for seven years and «Best Professor/​Instructor» for two years. Located conveniently in downtown Chico. Janet has a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Chico.

Jan is the best!!! She took on my daughter who was in high school and had an interest in art. With Jan’s guidance and teaching skills it opened a world of options to a career in the art world. My daughter is now a certified criminal sketch artist, and very successful! It all started with Jan’s patience and skill. I would highly recommend Jan.

I love taking classes at the Chico Art School & Gallery. Janet Lombardi Blixt is a talented artist and teacher. Her classes for adults and children are fun, energizing and very informative. She teaches oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, collage, drawing…
You choose what you want to do and she gently guides you along the way. She knows a lot about materials, techniques and books that may have relevant information for your projects. The rhythm and the freedom of creation is yours. I would recommand the class to anyone who wants to learn to draw and paint and feel so free and exhilarated doing it.
