Big Bark K-9 Spa & Supply

I’m saddened to see Big Bark close. My dog, Red, loved days at the groomer with Ashley a Terry and I think they loved him too! I heard one of the employees was opening a shop of their own. Does anyone know if that’s true? If so, maybe I could get more information? Thanks for many years of great grooms and the special care you gave to Red!

Very kind and gentle people went above and beyond to do an excellent job on our dirty dancer. As another reviewer wrote. how hard is it to wrestle a dog and hold those sharp shears right next to her eyes without a quiver from the operator. There is a reason we go to a professional. The owner herself did our dog, Boda. We will be customers forever.

Big dogs to small ones, this crew is excellent in every way. We will only use these guys for both our dogs.

So basically, I have an odd request when I have my doxys nails filed. My request is always that I hold her while its being done. She has a bad back and is on medication for pain in her back, if she happens to wiggle out of the persons arms who is not aware of her behaviors and her wiggle worm status (she hates being held), she’ll throw out her back and it could result in a $ 6K, YES $ 6K surgery. Most places are jerks about letting me hold her and claim its a «liability» for them– DAMN STRAIGHT, if your holding her and she jumps out of your grasp (she’s a FAST slickery little nugget) YOUR gonna cough up the $ 6K to fix her, should she get hurt.
Needless to say, that’s a risk I simply cannot take.
At Big Bark K-​9 Spa, I was able to hold my pooch, without question and the girl who filed my dogs nails was efficient and super nice. I was looking for a new place to take my nugget for regular filings and this is it. This is my new place. Its small but they have a nice selection of foods, treats and toys. My fav thing in store are the home made thick knitted doggie sweaters. Shut up! My dog gets cold and NEEDS to be covered up when its chilly out. Dont even TRY to talk smack about me dressing my dog. The ONLY time she gets a sweater is when its cold out– If its cold to me, its cold to her so shes got to be properly covered up. Ahhhh, now that THAT is all cleared up, ahem, what was I saying? Oh yeah, this place rocks! Helpful, nice and quick, just like I like it. In and out… if you have a dog, try them out! They wont disappoint :) 5 Arfs!

This family-​owned business is top notch! The groomer (Ashley) does a great job with our long-​haired Dachshund (Bandit) and she always has some neat products for sale too. They really love and care about dogs, and they are great for all breeds. Great location on the Esplanade too, and the cost is cheaper than other places. Take your beloved fuzzy best friend here for a grooming!

Groomers are under rated– their job is hard work, can be VERY gross at times, and takes a lot of patience and skill. Skillfully cutting hair from the eyes with incredibly sharp shears while a the 90 lb dog jumps around on a table while yanking your arm out of socket isn’t something that just happens– it takes work. HARD WORK.
A good groomer is worth their weight and more in gold… and many places you end up paying premium prices for premium skills, service, and products. Big Bark doesn’t price gouge at all– they are very reasonable considering the quality of care they do… I pay less than half of what I used to pay and Ashley does a better job.
Ashley is great at being a groomer– and by the growth of the retail side of Big Bark– she is a great business woman as well. I am pretty sure the other employees are all members of her family or good friends because there is always that feeling of family when I am there– the store is warm and welcoming and I feel very safe leaving my most precious cargo (my dog) in their care.
(ALSO… since the haircut prices are much better than many other places try to leave a nice tip… groomers work VERY hard and they deserve to know they are appreciated!)

I took my Lab/​timberwolf mix that is 4 years old and never been groomed and a little timid. She has been shedding like crazy. Ashley did a amazing job. Gracie seemed very happy when I picked her up and right at home and she looked beautiful. The big plus is she is not shedding like she was. Very professional clean business and great supplies. Any one looking for a groomer I would highly recommend Big Bark and Gracie will be back! :):)i
