I made an appointment to see Lin today because I can always trust her to give me exactly what I want in a haircut! Today, she made time to cut my hair and do some highlighting. She is such an easy, fun person to talk to. If anyone ever has anxiety about going to a hair salon — they should see her! No phony small talk, just pure kindness. And she’s extremely talented! Love this place.

The owner of this place is absolutely amazing!
I would like to start by saying that Lynn is not a horrible hairdresser. But I do think that she had very little experience cutting thick, full, voluminous hair. I’m Latin American so our hair is big and thick. For that reason, it was a very bad experience for me at first.
Amazing Customer Service: The owner was so nice to me when I came in from the very beginning. She greeted me and gave me magazines and even gave me a cup of coffee and took the time to have a meaningful conversation with me.
I went back and explained to her how I felt and how unhappy I was with my hair and I even told her I had to get my hair fixed. She didn’t even hesitate or make excuses or nothing. Gave me a huge apology and sent me home with a free product for my hair. What an amazing person!
The Bidwell Hair Cottage is truly an amazing place. Truly the best customer service I have ever had. Please do not be discouraged.

I stopped in to the salon while walking by one day. I had a little bit of time to kill before an appointment and this place caught my eye. I had never noticed it before, and I am glad to have found i since they have TIGI make-​up here– which is a tough find. I’m in love with the «Brow Sculpting Duo» in Brunette. This little pot has a dark brown-​black brow powder and a deep brown creamy gel that is one of the greatest brow products that I have ever used! The lady who helped me, I think she was the owner, was very helpful and let me try the products as I browsed. She also gave me the cards of two hair-​stylists that she recommended based on my description of what I was interested in doing with my hair as far as color and my indecisiveness /​need for input on a new style! I have yet to make an appointment but I think I might make one– I have to go back and check out the rest of the TIGI makeup anyway!

Better late than never. Tammi did mine and wedding parties hair for my wedding last year. Gave her a few ideas and loved how everyone’s hair came out. Thank you, Thank you!!!

I went a couple of years hunting for a fabulous hair dresser in Chico and Was referred to by a friend to Jessica at Bidwell Hair Cottage. I couldn’t have asked for a better stylist! I’ve gone in several times with a very vague description with what I want (simply because of lack of terminology) and she consistently nail it on the head with great cuts and colors, not to mention she’s the sweetest.
Bidwell Hair Cottage has a comfortable atmosphere and reasonable prices. Check it out!

I have been getting my hair cut by Brandy for over three years now. She is always warm, inviting, and the best listener I have ever interacted with in the salon world. I have never had anything but an exceptional cut, style, and overall experience working with Brandy. If you have to wait to get in her books, then by all means, WAIT! It is so worth it, and you won’t regret it. I had never in my life looked forward to getting a haircut before I came to Bidwell Hair Cottage, but since I’ve gone, it’s like visiting an old friend, and leaving looking downright fabulous!

I’ve been going to see Lin for about two years to cut my hair. She always does a good job and even laughs at my lame jokes. I am very critical of the businesses that I frequent. I am a stickler for professionalism, and overall customer service. Honestly who wouldn’t want to be treated like they matter? Lin always makes me feel at home, and asks me if I need my hair shampooed afterward. Which is important to me because I never go straight home to wash my hair and I dont want to be real itchy for the rest of the day. So of the 20+ hair stylists I’ve been to I’d say this one is the best overall value.

I’ve gone to this salon twice in the last year for hair cuts. Both times were a bit weird, and the hair cuts were mediocre. I don’t know who I saw either time, because I just asked for anyone who could cut curly hair. The first time I went, the woman asked me if I colored my hair, and I said no. She looked shocked, and said «I can’t believe your hair comes out of your head that color.» I do have red hair, and I know it’s not the most common color, but it seemed strange that the woman acted as if she had never seen red hair before. It made me a bit nervous about her cutting my hair. The haircut was just okay overall.
The second time, I saw someone else. I asked her to style my hair curly after cutting it (I don’t straighten it), and it was obvious that she was struggling. It’s hard to find people to properly style curly hair, and I know this, but she looked very distressed. I was being nice about it, and not saying anything (I usually just style it on my own when I get home). But after a bit of time, she actually said, «I don’t know exactly what to do with this.»
Maybe this place would be better for someone without curly hair… either way, I’m not coming back.

My husband and I have gone to Brandy for our hair for 3 – 4 years now and she has yet to disappoint. First, the salon is cute, nice, and clean, and always has an upbeat environment. Brandy always listens to what I want to do with my hair and then uses her expertise to add some recommendations on what would look best on me. She is professional at all different styles, coloring, facial waxing, etc. and has very reasonable prices. She has helped my husband find some really good products for his hair thinning issues and given me good advice about things to tame my naturally «frizzy» hair. I also converted my in-​laws to go to her and they love her too! I always look forward to my haircuts and having a fun appointment with her sweet personality. I highly recommend Brandy and Bidwell Hair Cottage!
*Oh, there are some desginated parking spots, but if they are filled up, and you have to park in one of the metered spots, they will gladly reimburse you. :-)

I love Blake!!! She is awesome!!! Went in needing my high lights fixed and she went above and beyond to do exactly what I needed. Highly recommend her!!!

This place is great! I went in a got a haircut by Brandy Slankard. Everyone was so welcoming. My hair needed to be cut for a while but I couldn’t tell myself it was worth spending a ton of money on my hair. Then I found Brandy who only charged me $ 30 for an amazing cut that made my hair feel amazing. I can now just wake up in the morning and run out the door because the way she cut it, I don’t have to do anything to it. I would definitely recommend this place!

This place was great! The girls there were really friendly. I was going in to chop 8 inches off (I really just wanted a nice short cut) and I got there a little early. I was sat down with tons of magazines for inspiration for my new look, and even offered a cup of coffee or tea while I waited. Pam, who cut my hair, did an amazing job — I’ve had nothing but compliments. My one problem was that it cost $ 35, which was $ 10 over the $ 25 in cash I had brought (they still don’t take credit/​debit). I ended up paying the rest in quarters that I had just gotten from the bank for laundry! All in all, though, my best haircut ever.

I was in town for a family wedding, and Jessica really bailed me out of a potentially bad situation. I needed a last minute blow dry and style after my plans fell through.
Jessica was great with my really long thick hair. I wanted an updo but it was clear that wasn’t going to happen, so she dried my hair and used a curling iron. She even let me apply makeup at the salon.
It was soft and pretty, and she was nice.
Warning: cash or check only (for now). Jessica told me they were going to change this soon, but don’t chance it! I had to send my boyfriend to get my checkbook.

This place is WONDERFUL! I can’t believe there aren’t any reviews about it yet here on Unilocal.
I waited a few weeks after receiving my haircut from Kristin to write this review, so that I could see how well it washed up, and grew out. I live and attend school down in the Bay Area these days, but I was planning on having my hair cut during a trip back home for the weekend. However, my usual stylist had a baby, and I wasn’t about to go another 8 weeks without getting my hair cut. So, I popped on Unilocal,and looked around at the different salons in the Chico area, but all of them were really, really expensive. Not at all college-​student-​budget-​friendly. And then I found Bidwell Hair Cottage. I was able to read a few reviews on the Insider Pages website, and after looking at Bidwell Hair Cottage’s website (specifically their prices!), I decided to call and see if someone at the salon was decent at cutting curly/​wavy hair.
I got Kristin on the line when I called, and she immediately reassured me that she was capable of cutting curly hair. She was also able to schedule me in on such short notice (I was calling on a Monday or something, and asking for a weekend appointment). When the actual appointment arrived, I was nothing but impressed. The salon itself is clean, and well furnished — very cute! Kristin was extremely detail-​oriented with my hair cut, paying close attention to the curl/​wave patterns. And the best part? A wash, cut, and style (probably the best I’ve ever had, mind you) was only $ 25!
Three weeks later, this is still the best haircut I’ve ever received. I know for certain that I’ll be seeing Kristin for my next haircut, and after looking at Bidwell Hair Cottage’s prices, I’m really excited to try their $ 18 pedicure. ;-)
Oh! One small note: they only take cash or check. But it’s worth it. It’s so worth it.
