Universal Esthetics by Zizi

zizi is awesome, the website suck its so hard to navigate to get an appointment and often crashes.

I’ve been a devotee of Zizi’s for 14 years if not more. Living in other cities is the only reason that I stepped out. She is the consummate professional and is deeply educated and passionate about skincare. My eyebrows are my obsession more than my hair.
The environment she provides is very zen. Her practices are extremely sanitary. She also provides excellent consultation on skincare.
And I’m insanely particular. Her precision and skill coupled with her knowledge is why I will only support Zizi.

Late again… and I even called before I came. Shameful! Spend your money and your time elsewhere…

ZiZi is one of the best in Chicago and she always has a smile. When clients run late that puts her behind but she does her best to make it work.

Let me start by saying, Zizi is a lovely woman and does a spectacular job on brow shaping. I am sad to have to find someone new. Last time I had an appointment for a tweeze, which takes all of 5 minutes, I waited 25. I then had to leave, because I had another appointment I did not want to be late for. Fast forward to today. I booked my appointment 5 days ago using the online booking. I showed up this morning and no one is even at the salon. I double checked my confirmation email and called the salon and got no answer. So, if you have absolutely no where to be afterwards and verify over the phone before you come, you will have a stress free experience and beautiful brows. The lack of respect for my time has now trumped the quality of the service and I will find someone new.

She is great. WHEN she is on time.
My first experience occurred late spring when I had my eyebrows done. She was ONE HOUR behind. That meant, waiting in a very small area with limited seating for an hour. By the way, her salon is NOT near shops etc. so that you can spend time doing something else while waiting. I had read all of the positive reviews about her talent and the quality of work. And I waited. Waited more. Annnnnd waited some more. She does a great job! However, after wasting an hour waiting, I was less than impressed with the overall service experience. I decided to give it another try and chalked it up to time of year. My second time was even worse and this time — I did get a call.
I got a call 5 minutes before my appointment time to let me know they were running 45 minutes late. It’s too bad, they called just as I was parking my car.
She gets one star for poor service but good work. It’s a trade-​off BUT I’d rather NOT waste my time waiting and have a better experience. At a minimum provide a deep discount for poor calendar management.

I went to Zizi about 4 months ago for a consultation, it was the very first I gone anywhere to do my eyebrows. After 15 minutes of talking with Zizi and explaining what was going on with my eyebrows and what I can do to maximize their growth, i was convinced. Thisbis the only place I get my brows done, and I love them.

I have been to many estheticians to have my eyebrows waxed and have always returned to Zizi. I have not found anyone who arches my brows so beautifully and colors them so well. Due to so many people seeking appointments, you may have to wait a while but, for me, it’s worth it.

I want to write an update of my experience– as you can read on my other revews, I had my eyelid/​eyeliner corrected at another salon. Well, I choose to have the other salon also re-​do my eyebrow permenent makeup as well, recently. After comparing the two salons, I must downgrade ZiZi another star, down to 1 (lowest rating) my brows are SO much better from the other shop, there is no comparison. Don’t waste your money, read my other reviews for the right shop to go to in the near South Side.

Zizi is my go to person for eyebrows. Since relocating to Dallas I have found no one who compares to ZiZi. She is thee best in Chicago.

I had a brow sculpting with ZiZi and it was a very positive experience. As another reviewer wrote ZiZi is very knowledgable about her craft. She takes a lot of time educating her client about eyebrow growth and also provides makeup tips of how to highlight the eyebrows as well as the eye. You can tell immediately that she is a kind person. The cost for the eye brow waxing is almost twice that of other places ($ 28), but she does put a good amount of time into shaping your brows, and provides a brief temple massage. Overall, it was a nice experience and you do feel pampered after leaving. She also dyes eyebrows too. I haven’t done that yet, but if I do I will update my review on that experience as well. The overall environment of the salon is nice too (free tea or water present while you wait which isn’t very long)

An acquaintance referred me to Zizi, and it is the best referral I have ever received! Having been fore-​warned about how large of a clientele Zizi has, I took the opportunity to book my first brow and chin waxing appointment in the middle of the day during a weekday. Universal Aestetics is right next to a cleaners at the corner of 16^th and Wabash. Be warned, there is no sign on the front door announcing «Universal Aestetics». The waxing suites are spa quality and fairly private. A few minutes after my appointment, Zizi escorted and verified services I was there to receive. She waxed my brows and laid out a plan on how we will get them to grow in the right areas. She showed me the proper way to apply brow powder and she also showed me a trick on how to better highlight my eyes — WHAT A BONUS! She also did a chin wax. I explained a recurring issue I was having and she then gave me a referral to a renowned dermatologist. Lastly, she showed me a reflexology trick to do for homework to support brow growth. In parting, she suggested timing for a next appointment with her, gave me a hug and thanked me for coming. I paid the receptionist on my way out. I must say, for the level of service I received, the cost for the services was reasonable. All in all, I got way more than I expected from this appointment. Zizi is a warm, considerate person, and I was extremely impressed with her knowledge, know-​how and professionalism. My days of searching for a brow specialist in Chicago are gone; this is where I will be.

Don’t go to get your eyebrows tattoo!!! I went in and she made me wait 2H for 15min working on my eyebrows. The result is bad, it’s a waste of money. First of all it’s extremely expensive and then she doesn’t do a good job. After 7 days almost everythings disappear. Now I have some holes and some dark spots in my eyebrows. It’s totally not uniform and I have to pay someone else to retouch it. I called her to talk with her about it, she never return my calls. I left a message to her assistant, no news! She is not professional and totally disrecpectful. Once she has your money, it’s over!
I don’t recommend this place at all.

I absolutely adore Zizi. I’ve been following her for the past 11 years, since her shop on Belmont. I always leave feeling beautiful. Zizi takes her time shaping my eyebrows.
Zizi provides awesome facials and is extremely knowledgeable. You can never go wrong with Zizi.

I discovered Zizi years ago & was a frequent customer at her Welles street salon. She’s tops when it comes to brows & in my opinion, gives highly praised mainstream brow artists such as Anastasia & Damone a run for the money! I’ve never been unhappy with her work with brows & she’s offered great little tips that I’ve used for years! (never knew about Emu Oil or drying my face with a paper towel as opposed to towel pre Zizi) She’s the best & everyone I’ve ever recommended to her agrees! Unfortunately, I’ve relocated to the burbs & unable to see Zizi as I once did but everyone since has been compared to her… my HG of brows!

I’ve had effed up eyebrows for years, due to an unfortunate freakish mishap when I was four (I was running with my eyes closed after an ice cream truck and ran smack dab into a 10-​foot pipe). I’ve paid insane prices to get my one stick straight and the other highly arched brows into shape (including the owner of Channings on Oak… YUCK), and Zizi was the only one who could do it. Zizi is an amazing find… she is a genius at brow shaping but super affordable considering the quality of her work.
The only thing you should be aware of though, is Zizi can really run late. I’ve waited for her on average for about an hour. But truly, there is no one else who can do what she can, and she is honestly super sweet, that I just make sure I either schedule a super early slot in the am (like 6:30a or 7a) or I allocate at least an hour if it’s going to be later in the day.
