There are certain currencies that International banks such as Chase, either lack inventory of and/​or are unable to order these currencies for customers. Most emerging nations currencies and many less «popular» currencies for «sale» are unavailable at local banks for exchange. If traveling to most European countries supported by the EURO or the British Pound, or a handful of other more familiar currencies, you’re going to get a much better rate both ways of exchange at an International bank such as Chase instead of Travelex. It’s those times when one is traveling to China and needs Chinese Renminbi (CNY) before embarking on your trip, or Thai Baht (THB) before leaving for Bangkok or Egyptian pounds (EGP) before your Egyptian holiday begins; Travelex will order the amount of currency you want if they don’t have it on hand, and will exchange your dollars for the currency of choice at a relatively fair price. Sure, the exchange rate is better at certain local haunts where you’ll be traveling to, but if you don’t want to wait; or like me, want to have the security of local currency before landing in a country you’re generally unfamiliar with, Travelex is the best place to go. What’s extra nice is when you return from your holiday with that foreign currency no one locally supports except Travelex, they’ll gladly buy back your paper money (not coins) and give you US dollars.

Placed my order for foreign currency online on Monday. Scheduled pick up for Weds. Went to location only to find a note on the door that they are closed for the day. Called main number which connected me to UK. Talked to someone who said they were not aware of the closing. Said to try again on Thurs. Called on Thurs and it only rang once and then busy signal. Called main number again and retold story. They said they would try to get to the bottom of it and call me back. No callback. Called location again on Fri and same thing. Called main number again and re-​retold story. They said they don’t know why it’s closed and can’t get ahold of manager. I said I wanted a refund which they said they would grant. Still waiting for it to show up in my bank acct. TERRIBLE!

Most terrible experience I ever had with money exchange companies, They are extremely dishonest and will try to rip you off, I will never EVER do business with them.
here is what happened to me,
I wanted to exchange my 2000 euros to dollars ‚
I checked the exchange rate in my local bank and it was 1.28 but I knew that my bank rate is always lower than money exchange companies,
I went to travelex, she told me their rate is 1.30 I made her repeat two times to make sure, before she give me the money she made me to enter my FULL social security number and also show my state ID, and I did ! (though I felt weird to enter my full SSN)
but here is terreble part ‚
she gave me a paper to sign, without letting me to see the whole part of it (the upper part was covered by her hand) I signed and she gave me the dollars, but it was at the rate of 1.13 !!! (even lower than 1.25 that chase bank offered) and that is the difference of $ 1300 for me.
I told her this is not acceptable and I thought she said 1.30 ratio, and I asked instantly, can I have my euros back? the person next to her, told me, no it is NOT possible to have my money back … that made me so surprised, they were like a thieves to me, I stay there and insisted to have my euros back,
I got my euros back and I deposted it in my chase bank and saved $ 1300 of the difference.
Avoid this place if you dont want to be ripped off.

I came in 10 minutes before their closing time, and still was able to make a western union transaction (unlike in some other places). Zee (I am not sure if it’s his first name, but it was on the receipt) was very polite and fast.
