I’m the current manager as well as a staffed stylish here at the salon. I’ve been working at this location for the past 8 years. This was used to be Vans salon. Now, With the new change in management, newly remodeled salon, experienced staff and with new added feature such as facial care, eyelash extension and nail services. I came here a couple of weeks ago to get some layers since my hair is thick and grows fast. Mimi was able to accommodate me right away and my friend was looked after by one of the male hairstylists (Not Tony).
I tend to get layers and the v shape in the back, and Mimi knew exactly what I wanted. My haircut took less than 20 minutes but the results were phenomenal for the time spent. My friend’s haircut (and price) made it worth it for him to decide not to go back to the Chinatown salons.
I came in here again today with my partner, who is mixed (half Japanese and half African American). We gave Mimi a shot at cutting Mimi’s hair (partner ha) and it turned out amazing! Normally, her hair is rather hard to manage, especially with how thick and curly it is. Mimi the stylist was able to tackle it with no issues.
Oh and she does a good clean up on eyebrows in less than 5 minutes! Do yourself a favour and come here for affordable, quality haircuts. Ask for Mimi!

Very friendly stylist, on the cheaper end, and no wait on a weekday. Tony spent time on my shampoo and cut, but cut was nothing close to what I wanted – a low-​maintenance, straight bob. Unfortunately, I received a high maintenance, overly razored, layered and unflattering cut instead. It will take me awhile to grow out and in the meantime, will be a pain to take care of. On top of all of this, I asked to move my part a little closer to the center; rather than do that, he decided to use no part when cutting and now my hair looks awful when I try to part either way. I usually put too much trust in a stylist and that is my fault. Should have intervened during the cut… lesson learned.

I was looking for an Asian hair salon and came across Tony’s. Was able to get a same day appt with Mimi, on a Wednesday afternoon. The salon was empty when I arrived and basically a clean, very no frills place. (I’ve passed by on the weekends and it’s usually packed!) I showed Mimi several photos of the cut I wanted and after asking several questions and making sure I was ok with the length she started to cut away. She was so fast and precise! She did a wonderful job! It came out exactly as I had hoped! I’ll definitely be back with my husband and boys (men’s cuts are only $ 10!).

For cut/​color and highlight, I paid $ 180 w/​o tips. I spend at least 3 hour and a half. The employees here seem always rushed and never finish what they promise. Tony’s damaged my hair. He burned my scalp with hair dye. I felt a real pain. My hair is yellow-​orange right now.
I will never return to this place

I signed up for Unilocal to review this place because of the great cut I got. Mimi is amazing! She listens to what you ask for and leaves you with a cut that is comparable to any cuts in downtown Chicago. Will definitely be coming back!

At Tony’s, you’re not going to get a head massage or wash and blow-​dry, but if you’re on a budget and low maintenance, this hair salon is fantastic value for your money. This is the first time I’ve gotten a dry haircut, and frankly, I was nervous in the chair as my hairstylist’s hair cutting technique was so fast! Having someone new cut your hair can be risky since that trust that they know what to do what it hasn’t been established. I tend to stay with the slightly angled, blunt bob with minimal long layers/​thinning out so when I asked for the same haircut, just an inch shorter, I wasn’t expecting a lot more short layers in my hair. Haircut took less than 30 minutes, looked nice and even, and was done at an excellent price (sign displayed $ 10 for men and $ 15 and up for women, and mine was $ 20). The layers is a preference thing, and if you’re particular about certain details, I would recommend being very specific when describing what you like and dislike.

This is a great salon with friendly and professional staffs. I had a cut and balayage. It turned out wonderful! The hairstylist is Mimi. She is helful and has alot of experience. I enjoyed my visit and will be back. Totally recommended!

I used to go to Van’s Salon next door for years but Tony opened up his own salon so I’ve been going here. I haven’t gotten my hair cut short in 3 years so I was nervous going for my haircut. Ken made me feel comfortable and listened to what I wanted for my hair and knew what would look good. I was nervous at first but I had no reason to be because Ken did an amazing job with my hair! There’s a reason I have been going to Argyle for years because I don’t trust just anyone with my hair. My hair is thick, long, Asian hair and can be difficult to manage. Ken made my haircut beautiful and easy to maintain! The best part is that my haircut was only $ 25 compared to big name salons that are overpriced and don’t know how to cut my hair. Thanks Tony’s Salon, I’m in love with my hair!

I got my hair done two weeks ago by Mimi and she was fantastic. I found Tony’s after my boyfriend got a haircut there for $ 10 2 weeks prior and was very satisfied. I decided to go for it, Mimi got me right in on time for my appointment, we discussed the color and what would be too drastic for my skin tone, best at upkeep etc. she was a great listener and I really appreciated that. In the end I loved my hair color. I have lived all over the US and have never found a colorist that has been able to match my needs and wants with affordability. Mimi was polite and had truly excellent skills. I truly recommend Tony’s and especially Mimi for all of your needs!

Just had the best haircut in years! Mimi was very professional and friendly. I showed her a photo of what I wanted (bangs, shoulder-​length layers), we discussed, she listened, and she worked her magic. I could not be more pleased with this cut. Mimi is an intuitive, talented, efficient stylist.
While I was in Mimi’s chair, I saw another customer getting her hair cut by Tony. Her chic bob with bangs looked adorable.

I love Mimi! I love that they don’t speak to each other in their language and when they do, she excuses herself. I think that is very respectful and it’s something that I don’t like in other salons. Aside from that she get things done and does it very fast. I love her and love this salon!

So I usually get my hair done at Gallery of Hair. However it can be a long drive during the weekday, and I sometimes do not have time to get out there. I decided to give Tony’s a try since it is literally 2 blocks from my home. My hair stylist name was Ken. At first I was a little nervous because there was a language barrier, and he does not speak much English. But the guy definitely delivered. I dyed my hair a deep burgundy red, and I had a reddish blond before. He took a lot of time distributing my color, and he gave me the best neck massage while shampooing my color out. Also Tony who is the master stylist would always come around and double check my color, which is something I liked. My color came out very nice, and I do not know what Ken did, but my hair is very shiny and soft. That is not usually the case after a color. I was very pleased with the service and will come back again in the future.

Tony has been cutting my hair for several years now. I have tried multiple places in Andersonville area, and have found no one as great as Tony. Tony knows how to cut/​style hair. I recommend that if guy or gal this is a great place for hair cut/​style. Extremely friendly, understanding, caring at a great price.

My first time having permanent «anything «done. Especially to my face! I told Mimi what I wanted, and left the rest to her. I did the same thing with my lashes. She has great skills. I have strangers asking me where I went to get my brows and lashes done. Everyone says the same thing…“They look so natural!» The perfect place to come if you’re thinking about doing either or both! You’ll be happy

I have been coming to Tony for my haircut for the past years. He fades and cuts hair nicely. He knows exactly what to do everytime I visit. The salon just got remodeled Looks so much nicer. Another plus is that their price has changed and now is very affordable men haircut is only $ 10! My girlfriend also loves this salon. She just had a Japanese perm today and she lovesss it. She said she’d recommend Mimi for any gals out there who’s looking to get their hair done. Overall, we had the best experience at Tony’s salon. Would recommend and will come back soon.
