Love Thrift and Thrive. Great place to look first to replace household goods and furniture. Things I’ve gotten from T&T: wine glasses, children’s desks, floor lamp, kitchen chairs, book case and much more. Prices are reasonable; the products are quality and the service is great.

While scanning through craigslist I found this kitchen cart I just had to have. Then I realized the CL seller was a store. I followed the click bait to their facebook and was happy to find pictures and prices of all their items. I called and they confirmed they had the item in stock. While they don’t do holds, the sales woman offered to call me if anyone else expressed interest.
I hurried down and nearly passed the store front. I browsed through their inventory: clothes upstairs, furniture/​housewares downstairs. I located the kitchen cart and it was brought upstairs for me.
The entire transaction was seamless! I wish they had cleaned the item prior to selling. It was clearly from a house with a car and my allergies instantly alerted me to this.
Great price, great item, great service. A must visit if you are in the market for some DIY project furniture.

The great thing about thrift stores is that if you are patient enough, you might just find some really great pieces. Walking into T&T you have already found something special. The first floor is resale clothing and accessories but the basement is where the vintage finds are at.
I wandered downstairs first and found it full of furniture, home décor, clothing, glassware. My favorite finds were a 60s era jacket in perfect condition and an armchair that just needs a bit of work. Both floors are full of items so you really should take your time if you can to really check it out.
I forgot the name of the gal working there but she was super friendly and really fun to talk to. Because I had purchased a coffee at Perkolator earlier (same owners!) I received 10% off my purchases that day. A vintage Tshirt for my son (1989 is vintage for him!), a skirt and that 60’s jacket for me – special finds from a wonderful store!

Three tips for stopping into Thrift & Thrive:
1) Bring a donation! From old kitchen plates to used clothing, Thrift & Thrive will give you a coupon just for helping stock their shelves. Plus you get a tax deduction receipt. Double win!
2) For a sneak peak of furniture at Thrift & Thrive (they really do get some cute pieces), you can just look up «Thrift and Thrive» on Craigslist. I found a cute kitchen bistro table with two chairs for only $ 40 (it’s a little beat up, but nothing a tablecloth can’t fix when company is over).
3) Clothes are on the first floor, but vintage clothes have their own rack in the basement. If you are a lover of all things vintage, make sure you stop and check out that spot.
Overall, this is a clean and cute place. The owners are really involved in the neighborhood, and own a coffee shop down the street called Perkolator. This is a true «Shop Local» store. If I had my way, they would move their shop to a larger location in the Six Corners strip (their clothes dept needs more space) — and put in a coffee bar. Combine those two things, and I might never leave the shop.

I was in the neighborhood at Eli’s (drool) and decided to check out a nearby thrift store before heading home. I really liked this place! Small enough to give a once and twice over without needing to spend all day. I didn’t notice a basement other reviewers mentioned but will look for it upon my next visit. The gentleman that assisted us was very personable and added to the charm of the place.
Note to germaphobes: the changing room is also the bathroom. It’s less than pleasant but serves its purpose: a locked door to change behind. Better than a sketchy curtain in the grand scheme of things.
Overall I enjoyed the visit and will definitely be back.

It’s a cute neighborhood thrift store. The atmosphere is very, very different from those regional thrift stores you may have known (Unique and Village Discount Outlet). The young men who worked there were easy-​going; they made us feel comfortable sticking around without being awkward.
Hubby immediately noticed the presences of vinyls to the left upon entering, so I guess he would station there while I was exploring around the rest of the store.
The first floor is consisted of men’s, women’s, and toddlers’ clothing, accessories and footwear. The CDs, vinyls, and cassette tapes can also be found on this floor.
They have a basement, which is consisted of furniture, electronics, kitchen miscellanies, toys, vintage clothing, and books. They utilized the space well by merchandizing as much as they could. Unlike other thrift stores, the basement was crowed, but I didn’t at all feel claustrophobic. It was a pleasure for me to browse through.
Coming back up the ground floor, hubby was still working on perusing the vinyls. I took a detailed look at the clothing here. They were pretty seasonably-​priced for a thrift-​store standard. As I’ve said on the previous paragraph, the entire store was very-​organized and prices were marked very clearly as well.
I think Thrift & Thrive is a great neighborhood shop to stop by and check out every once in awhile. I also received a 10% Unilocal check-​in offer to use on three (3) vinyls we purchased. The total was $ 4 and some change.
We also received a coupon that doesn’t expire. We liked the store and will be back since we live close enough to come by public transportation. There’s also a plenty of paid street-​parking on the Irving Park Rd.

Cleanest, most organized little thrift store around! I particularly like them for their vintage selection and low prices. It is larger than it appears from the outside because there is a downstairs level. They do a good job with holiday selection — particularly Halloween costumes and ugly sweaters for Christmas.

Not much I can add that hasn’t been said. Everything mentioned in the other reviews was true, and I will be making special trips to visit in future! Cheap, clean, well organized, super friendly, and locally owned by neighborhood people. You can tell they make an effort to only stock items in good quality, and the stuff is also organized by size (never a guarantee when thrifting, but always appreciated). Cool retro housewares in the basement too. Treat yourself to a shopping spree, then enjoy a snack or beverage across the street at Perkolater — a great neighborhood coffee shop. which I also loved.

I’m in love with this place! It’s super clean and the people are always friendly. I’ve found some amazing treasures here and their prices great. I’ve even found a few brand new items here really cheap! And… they give coupons!!! What’s not to love?

I stopped in for the first time on a whim. This place is awesome!!!
Layout is great, and it is VERY organized. Upstairs is children’s clothes, women’s & men’s clothes, records/​tapes/​cds. There was even a rack dedicated to Holiday inspired attire. Downstairs is furniture, games, vintage clothing, books, dvds, frames, etc.
The staff is so great. We stayed an extra 20 minutes just to chat with them.
This thrift store is completely out of my way, and not nearby my house, but I will continue to come back here and recommend to my friends!

My gf and I come here atleast once a week and we almost always find something to buy. And now they have a really great coffee shop across the street.

Loved this place. It made my kids and I feel at home. Will definitely be back bc my kids didnt get screamed at like in other places. For moms, its all about our kids, when shopping with our kids. Oh, and they have a wide variety of inexpensive books in their basement. Spent less than $ 20 and got a coupon for next visit.

My favorite thrift store to visit while in the neighborhood. Owners and staff are friendly and helpful. Clean, very clean :) bathroom… always clean! Love that I can try on clothes before buying. My daughter enjoys their fun selection of jewelry. Picked up a great scarf a couple weeks ago for $ 1.99, brand name jeans for $ 5.00, a couple hats for $ 1.00 each. It is a small welcoming store. Good to check back in often as merchandise changes.

Friendliest thrift store staff — and the cleanest thrift store I’ve ever been in. Also, they have loads of neat stuff at really reasonable prices.

I actually have a few AWESOME decorative items from here that were lucky, vintage finds that my friends DRIP with jealousy for. A pre-​1970s globe lamp and a solid wood side table adorn my home office and eclectic living room, thanks to Thrift & Thrive’s cool selection of very affordable antiques. I like to pop in here after I get a coffee from Regulus and before I hit the Patio Theater to make the evening movie. Such a great stretch of land for a few hours of great fun!

This place has really grown in the last year! They have now expanded the store to the basement. I really do appreciate the organization and cleanliness of the store. Thrift & Thrive is another awesome reason to venture to the NW side of Chicago! It’s a welcome addition to Irving Park Road, and I sure hope it’s here to stay for a while. It’s bright, clean, and stocked full of great bargains. It’s NOT your typical resale shop that reeks and looks like your grandma’s closet. I found two pairs of like new pants for $ 11 total and it was the highlight of my week! You can tell the minute you enter the store that its layout is carefully thought out. The fitting room is essentially a small bathroom, but is sufficient as it has a full length mirror and a wall hook. Just don’t drop any of your items in the toilet! ;) Clothes, jewelry, shoes, kitchen items, books, house décor, and more — something for everyone!
The owners are super sweet, have great ideas about hosting community events and supporting other local businesses, and are willing to pick up any and all donations. If you aren’t familiar with Portage Park, I suggest you make a trip. Shop at Thrift & Thrive, eat at Las Tarascas, buy candy at Candy Heaven and catch a movie at the Patio. You won’t regret it.
