This Is Feeling Photography

I had an amazing experience with This is Feeling! My (now) husband and I were trying to find a photographer that fit our style while appeasing to our parents idea of «good photography». This was quite challenging considering that we were planning a Chicago wedding while living in New York City. Ben and his team were wonderful! They met with us over various Skype sessions to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. We were worried that our parents wouldn’t appreciate some of the stylistic photos and would think they were too «touch feely» (pun intended), but both of our parents absolutely loved every photo!
Kevin did such a great job making sure he got photos that really captured all emotions felt during the wedding! He always maintained professionalism and was able to help us predict where things could get disorganized which made everything work so smoothly on the big day (s). We loved working with him and are bummed that we don’t live in Chicago to grab more beers with him. My husband and I are were pretty awkward and nervous about being in front of a camera, and Kevin made it so easy and natural. The photo slide show continues to bring laughs and tears for anyone we show it to.

Ben & MIke at «This is Feeling» are beyond amazing. From the day I submitted a request to them for more information and Ben called me within an hour to introduce himself — to them inviting us to their studio to help us understand their style of photography and them get to know my fiancé and I, they made us feel like we were the couple they were working with. Ultimately Mike photographed our wedding and he made sure to reach out several times prior to the day to ensure that he understood our vision, important images to capture and the timeline of our day so he could plan around us. Not only did Mike capture the most beautiful, intimate moments of our day — but I had no clue he was there for most of it! He was so professional and discrete throughout the day and because he’d done good homework with us — he didn’t need to ask us many questions that day and really allowed us to enjoy every moment. His creative eye is incredible and the pictures really do bring my husband and I back to those special moments on our wedding day. From the day we got engaged, we knew that our photographer would be one of the most important choices we made and we have zero regrets with Mike, or Ben!

My husband and I struggled to find a photographer early in our planning process. We were ecstatic when we came across Ben and his team at This Is Feeling. We loved the quality of their past work and the overall feel of their photographs.
My husband and I are not good at posing for pictures, and we prefer more candid and natural shots. Ben and his assistant did just that. They made us feel comfortable and worry free.
Ben communicated promptly and efficiently, and he was open to suggestions (and accommodated them) regarding picture groupings we wanted.
We could not be more pleased with how our photos turned out. They are beautiful, and they really captured the joyous emotions of our wedding day.

This is Feeling really nails it for my fiancé and me. Ben was absolutely amazing to work with and pretty much captured exactly what we wanted out of our shoot and we are absolutely blown away by the images! This is a long overdue review. Ben did our engagement shoot in October 2014 and our wedding on 12.13.14 and it was an amazing experience.
My husband and I HATE getting our pictures taken but Ben made us feel comfortable infront of the camera. He captured all the emotions, feelings, and special moments of your event.

I was introduced to Ben through a referral from a mutual friend. We were looking to do some family portraits and I contacted him. Ben gave us the HIGHEST level of client service and very professional throughout the process. We started the process with a «Discovery call» to get an idea of what we were looking for. We talked for almost an hour about family, life and our home, so he had a full sense of how to capture the moment. Ben came to our house to take the photos and everything was very organic and done how we wanted. We got the proofs and he helped us select our favorites. He even showed us how we could arrange them on our wall with his technology. The photos were shipped and came to our house quickly and we couldn’t be happier with the results! He captured some amazing moments of our family and I can’t thank him enough for that.

There is something about Ben’s work that is very hard to describe, other than he understands and cares. He wants to capture the essence of the people you love, not create a ‘perfect’ posed image. Everyone has seen the standard posed family shot at the park, or by a lake… he does so much more. Our relationship started with a «Discovery» call, where Ben took an hour to speak to me and my husband together and individually to learn about our family and what we love about each other. The afternoon he spent with us was just fun — nothing remarkable seemed to happen. But the photos he presented to us were amazing in so many regards. As parents of two young ones, we’re always taking care of something — someone spilled, is hungry, is tired, the cat’s in the attic, the baby fell off the couch… you name it. I couldn’t believe how happy our children are, and the obvious love they have for each other. He captured our girls for who they are — rarely dressed, fun loving kids. We can miss these moments in day-​to-​day life, and Ben captured them for us. Moreover, he didn’t just hand us digital images… he created custom canvas galleries that we never would have been able to achieve on our own.
We were lucky to work with Ben and will do so again in the future! Also, he’s about the kindest, most genuine person in the world. Makes the experience all the nicer.

Since we were having a destination wedding, we were initially only asking Ben to take our engagement photos.
After one incredible session with him, we ended up flying him to South Beach to capture both our rehearsal dinner and wedding day!
What I loved is that he took the time to take us through our engagement pictures on a big screen to review what pictures we liked best. This way he knew what types of pictures were going to be the most important to us on our wedding day.
Ben makes you feel like he isn’t even taking pictures of you. He was able to capture the most important pictures to us in an artistic and authentic way. My favorites were all of the ‘in the moment’ ones because he was able to capture true emotion and feeling in these pictures.
Not only is he extremely personable, he is organized, professional and an INCREDIBLE photographer!
He was one of my favorite vendors from our wedding and I could not recommend him enough!

I could not have picked a photographer. Our wedding photos are perfect. I still tear up when I look at them. The feelings I felt that day are clearly captured. We did not have a forever session with Ben, so our only photo interaction with him was on the day. I am a little shy when it comes to having my photo taken & Ben made me feel so comfortable. I felt like he was an old friend I had known for years.
During the ceremony & the reception, I forgot he was there. Once I saw the photos — I realized he was everywhere. He truly caught it all. We loved working with Ben & Mike. We knew what things were important to our wedding, and pictures were high on our list. Ben was able to capture the fantastic moments and small details that we were looking for, while also including traditional posed photos. Both photographers were great, and made my husband and I feel extremely comfortable throughout the day. Ben even helped my husband get his boutonnière on properly! We received numerous compliments from guests about them, and the photos turned out wonderfully.

We LOVED having Ben as our wedding photographer. He was so great to work with and such a cool, down to earth guy. When I was looking for a wedding photographer, I didn’t want just any ordinary photographer. I wanted someone with a vision and creative style behind their photos. After looking through probably almost a hundred photography sites (not kidding…), I finally saw Ben’s photos and loved them. The photography for our wedding was the most important part for me because it’s something you have to look at for the rest of your life, so I wanted it to be perfect. Ben did such an amazing job and we loved our wedding photos. My advice is don’t hire any ordinary photographer for your wedding; anybody can take a ‘nice’ picture with a really expensive camera. Hire someone who knows what they’re doing and can take amazing pictures. I would recommend Ben to all my friends and family.

My standards as a bride were very high, I’m seasoned in orchestrating photography for galas, professional events, and have done modeling – out of dozens of professionals I have seen, he’s the best I have ever experienced. I did not want hipster, cheesy, or blah wedding photos and he was just the man for the job and offers a good value.
What set him apart for my wedding:
— Ben uses top of the line equipment and has a variety of lenses which he carries on him to capture the perfect mood for each moment.
— Ben’s masterful lighting skills maximize the latest photographic technology. He created gorgeous lighting which enhances the photos and creates looks ranging from Hollywood glamour, party fun, to romantic warmth. He moved the lighting around discreetly as the event progressed.
— Ben took the initiative to capture meaningful details and also readily incorporated my ideas and direction in the moment. He encouraged us to be creative as a couple and embraced our ideas while giving us the direction we needed to make a great shot.
— He’s a cool guy with a fun personality who makes others feel comfortable and interesting. It was a pleasure to work with him and my family enjoyed his presence at our wedding.

We love Ben! Finding our wedding photographer was the most difficult and personal decision for us. It’s not just about capturing all those moments you want to remember forever, but being able to feel comfortable and natural with someone following you around all day. As someone who hates getting their photo taken and constantly feels unphotogenic, this was a large concern for me.
From our initial meeting, I knew that Ben would be perfect for us. He is just a really great person, who loves what he does, and loves everything about love. We scheduled an engagement session, which I would highly recommend, and we all had so much fun. His ability to capture all the little moments, the intimate glances and stolen kisses, is simply amazing. Our engagement photos turned out phenomenally.
After our engagement session, he invited us out to the studio to review the images and talk about what we liked and didn’t like, and what we were hoping for for the big day. Needless to say, we had nothing we didn’t like. It was all so perfect.
On the big day he arrived right on time with an assistant who was also super awesome and friendly. Like, I wish we could all just hang out. Super cool. We kind of dropped the ball on finding a location for our «first look,» and Ben went and location scouted for us and chose one that worked perfectly. He knew exactly what we were looking for. He did such a good job setting such an important moment up for us, it was full of anticipation and excitement and was one of the best moments of my life, all wonderfully captured forever in his beautifully artistic photos.
The rest of the day went perfectly, and Ben was great at capturing everything we wanted and more that we didn’t even know we wanted. There are very intimate moments he was able to capture, when I didn’t even realize he was there. He was great at not only blending in, but also celebrating with us like he was an old friend. He was also to keep order in the midst of all the choas of our 15 person wedding party and impatient relatives interrupting formal photos.
We haven’t even seen all of our photos yet. He put together a beautiful and touching video slideshow of some of our photos which has brought not only me but all my family members to tears when watching. After seeing it the first time, I had to resist the urge to give him a great big bear hug. I was beyond happy. My dad just called me yesterday to tell me how crying alone in his office has been a new embarrassing experience for him, but he can’t stop watching it :)
We absolutely can’t wait to see the rest of our photos, but have no doubt that they will be breathtaking and full of everything we wanted. His vision and creativity is unmatched, and you should hire him. Seriously. Do it now.

Ben shot our June wedding and after our amazing engagement shoot, I was itching to get our wedding photos. And he did not disappoint. He caught emotions, colors, the overall vision… all things that were very important to my husband and I.
If you hire Ben, he’ll provide you with a fill-​in-​the-​blank about your personality and vision. Take your time and do this. It’s worth it and really helps him nail the day.
I just wished I would’ve timed him a little better. Because he spent all day with the girls (shooting us getting ready, etc.) his 12 hours was up an hour before our reception ended… and I wished he was there til the end!
But I’d hands down recommend Ben for anyone looking for photos that aren’t just your standard wedding shots. He goes over and beyond.

Finding a wedding photographer is an important and very personal decision. We were very happy with Ben from start to finish. When we met for engagement pictures, he was very easy to work with and we instantly clicked. He is great at capturing the little glances and moments — and those are some of the best pictures. Sometimes photo sessions can be forced and just uncomfortable, but Ben is personable, with a great sense of humor, and he also makes you feel at ease to get a natural look.
He also provides great customer service. After our engagement photos, we had a phone conference to discuss what we loved, liked, didn’t like and wanted more/​less of. This type of planning was key to get the perfect wedding pictures for us. Our wedding pictures are absolutely amazing! We love them and will treasure them forever. We took pictures outside by the Chicago skyline (one of the Bride’s «musts») and they just look fantastic. There was one in particular where guests commented that it looks like a photo shoot for a magazine — both elegant and artistic. Love them! I was also impressed at how well he worked with getting the family pictures coordinated — to get everyone to look good in one picture is sometimes a difficult thing to do in our family (eyes closed, glasses glare, etc), but Ben nailed this.
Ben also runs a good business. During our photographer search, we noticed a lot of additional «fees» that would be tacked on to the package price like the airlines do, but Ben is different. He provided a clear list for costs, services, and time. He also was able to create a package that fit what we wanted and needed. He created a customized experience.
I would HIGHLY recommend as a wedding photographer. Not only am I a satisfied customer, but if I ever need another photographer, Ben is my first call.
