Theresa Hahn

Theresa helped us purchase our first home in the city of Chicago and she was absolutely outstanding. From the first meeting, she knew we would need some extra hand-​holding as this was our first home purchase. She went above and beyond to meet with us, make sure we understood the process and was always available for questions. When it came time to look at potential homes, Theresa picked us up, drove us to the homes and really knew the city very well. She is extremely knowledgeable of neighborhoods in Chicago and offers the best advice when looking at potential neighborhoods.
When we saw the home we fell in love with Theresa had a great sense of urgency to ensure we were able to get our dream home. Right after we looked at the unit, we filled out the paper work immediately to extend an offer. She submitted the offer that same night and we were lucky enough to have our offer accepted! She made the process so easy, so fun and extremely exciting for first time home owners.
Theresa’s services don’t stop there. Throughout the process of closing she was there with us along the way to make sure everything went smoothly. She communicated with us the entire time until our move in date. After we moved in, Theresa made an effort to check in and see how our new home was and continues to communicate with us today through mailers, emails, etc on neighborhood news, updates to the city, etc. She is a wonderful agent and now a great friend.
I highly recommend working with Theresa. She is extremely friendly, hardworking and knows how to get the job done. She builds relationships with her clients very well and understands what her clients really want when purchasing a home. We absolutely love our first home purchase and we honestly owe Theresa a HUGE thank you for finding us the home of our dreams and making the process super easy for us.

I hesitate to write this review as Theresa’s a nice person and I’m afraid she’ll reach out to me and criticize or question my review. But, I can only speak from experience and my truth and honesty and in the quest to best inform Unilocal-​ers, I write. The truth is, she didn’t get the job done. When I looked for a real estate agent, I searched Unilocal and saw her all 5-​star reviews and thought she’d be fabulous but this just wasn’t the case. (Maybe she’s a great buyer’s agent, but we used her as a seller’s agent.) Our house didn’t sell and is in a great location, at a decent price in a decent market. Not totally her fault, but some of her suggestions were just… off. We had our living room painted purple which probably turned off potential buyers but she didn’t recommend re-​painting it until 5 months into it being on the market. We had our condo up as a 2 bedroom and received multiple showings, but her suggestion all along was to show it as a 1 bedroom and finally, we changed it to a 1 bedroom per her advice and then received almost zero showings. Wrong strategy. Sometimes I felt that she was more interested in self-​promotion and branding than pursuing what we, the clients, wanted. On the plus side, she sent us a text after every showing with the potential buyers’ comments and impressions. Also, she was kind and polite to work with.

This review is a long time coming, I’m not sure why it never occurred to me to write a review for my realtor but when I saw she had a Unilocal page, I felt kind of dumb for not writing this sooner. Theresa helped us buy our condo in bucktown and from start to finish she was a major help to us, first time home buyers. She patiently walked us through all steps of the process and made sure to answer any questions we had thoroughly and promptly. We were not sure where we wanted to move to and exactly what we were looking for, but Theresa was very knowledgable about the different neighborhoods in the city and did a great job matching what we were looking for with Bucktown. Theresa did a great job figuring out the comps in the area and made sure we got a great deal for our place. She negotiated with the other realtor and had the price reduced lower than we even anticipated possible, she definitely had our best interest at heart. Additionally we had a lender that was not the most responsive or helpful and Theresa did a great job following up with them to ensure the deal closed in a timely fashion. I would recommend Theresa to anyone looking to buy our sell.

Recently, I decided it was time for me to become a home owner. I have never bought a home so I really had no idea as to how to do it. A friend, who is a recent home buyer, told me about his great experience working with Theresa. After dealing with pushy, impatient realtors, I was so glad to have found Theresa. I basically just told Theresa what I was looking for, my price range, and she did the rest. She provided me with tons of information. I was able to select the homes I wanted to check out from the endless list of condos she found with my criteria. She was so patient and flexible. She took me to so many condos all over Chicago. There was no pressure. Once I found a place (which was everything and more than I ever wanted) she knew how to deal with all the people involved. She gets things done while being assertive and friendly to all she contacts. Her communication skills are awesome. She explains every step and was extremely prompt with answering my questions. The whole process was smooth and exciting thanks to Theresa. She’s down-​to-​earth, extremely competent, and knows her stuff!
