The Women’s Group of Northwestern was founded in 1989 as the city’s first all-female medical practice specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. Since 1989, our services have centered around providing comprehensive medical care to women in a friendly and professional manner. To accomplish this, we maintain a state-of-the-art facility and provide the latest in medical innovation and technologies in a comfortable setting.

Business Owner
Elena M. Kamel, MD is an Associate Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Managing Partner of the Women’s Group of Northwestern. Dr. Kamel founded the first all female OB/GYN practice in Chicago in 1989.
After completing her residency as chief resident at Northwestern, Dr. Kamel remained involved in resident and student teaching at Northwestern. She was awarded the Magnus P. Urnes award for excellence in teaching.
Dr. Kamel has been involved in many outreach programs in the community educating women on healthy lifestyle, the risks of heart disease and breast cancer awareness. In 2006, the Y-ME National Organization awarded her the Hart award for her dedication. In addition, Dr. Kamel has been involved with the American Heart Association and the Go Red Organization for Heart Disease Awareness for Women. In 2007 she was awarded the Distinguished Physician award.
