The Windy City Burlesque Festival’s mission is to celebrate the present, honor the past, and showcase the future of burlesque performance, in all of its multi-​disciplinary expressions, through local, regional, national, and international perspectives, by presenting and producing performances and workshops for both the general public and practicing burlesque artists.

History

Established in 2010.

Founded by Vaudezilla’s Red Hot Annie & Dick Dijon and Belmont Burlesque’s Paris Green, & Jack Midnight.

Red Hot Annie’s impact onChicago burlesque is undeniable, as evidenced by her numerous interviews (TimeOut Chicago, The Chicago Reader) and appearances on Check Please, WGN radio, WCIU television. In addition to performing regularly for corporate clients including Harley-​Davidson, Grey Goose, Hendrick’s Gin, and more, she is a nationally-​recognized performer, having been voted #34 in the Burlesque Top 50 for 2010 and won «Best Novelty» at Texas Burlesque Fest in 2012.

If this year will be anything like last year, this is a sure bet on a great evening (or two!). They pull top talent from around the country (and even a few foreigners) to shake it for you during several shows. Each show is different acts. Last year featured all sorts of body types, which I found refreshing, and a wide range of sexiness, hilarity, and breathtaking «wow!» moments (such as the performer who used a metal grinder and steel plates on her costume to shower the stage with sparks). All interspersed with comedians and magicians to keep things fresh and the pace moving.
If you haven’t been to a burlesque show, this is a great introduction– it’s performers from all over bringing their «A» game to an enthusiastic packed house. If you already know and love burlesque, you probably already have your tickets.
