Specialties
The WasteShed is a new creative reuse center for Chicago. We collect reusable art supplies, craft supplies, and school materials and make them available to the public at affordable prices.
History
Established in 2014.
The WasteShed opened in a small storefront in Humboldt Park in September of 2014. While similar reuse centers have supported the creative communities of many cities across the US since the 1970s, there hasn’t been a comparable organization in Chicago for many years. The founder and director, Eleanor Ray, started the project based on her experience with the School and Community Reuse Action Project in Portland, OR, and as General Manager of the Creative Reuse Warehouse.
