History

Established in 2015.

Manuel is from a small town in southern Spain called Sanlúcar de Barrameda. It is a beautiful coastal town known for Manzanilla and langostinos (giant prawns). He met Mara while she was living abroad in Spain. They lived in Sanlúcar for 5 years, being lucky enough to travel all over Spain and celebrate life enjoying great meals with family and friends.

Mara fell in love with Manuel and Spain. Manuel was only too happy to share his passion for his native culture and food with Mara. They had a beautiful Spanish wedding in 2012 and moved to the United States later that year.

Though they may have physically left Spain to live in Chicago, Spain never left their hearts, and now Mara and Manuel are sharing their passion of Spanish cuisine, culture, customs and fiestas at The Spanish Square.
