Description

Specialties

As the sun sets each day on the «City of Big Shoulders,» work-weary Chicagoans make their way to The Red Canary for:

* A softly lit and warm canary-red dining room that is upstaged only by a stunning grand chandelier

* A spacious and comfortable main lounge that has vaulted faux-tin ceiling and crystal chandeliers, and occupied by comfortable upholstered furniture

* Two private balcony lounges that offer birds-eye views of the main lounge below as well as respite from the city hustle-bustle

* A 2,000-square-foot garden patio — which is among the top three in Chicago — that features lush green ivy over brick, imported Italian olive trees and custom wicker furniture.

History

Established in 2009.

In July 2009, long time friends and business partners Shane Hudson and Jamie Uhlir opened the doors and garden of The Red Canary, Chicago’s highly anticipated gastro-lounge. The Red Canary is a Modern Victorian lounge that features Inspired American Cuisine by Chef Rick Spiros.

This is a homecoming for the duo that started their career in Chicago over a decade ago as students at DePaul. Uhlir and Hudson bring experience back to Chicago from their highly successful nightclub in Denver — The Loft.

The Red Canary is a relaxed spot to enjoy a drink as well as great food. A 6,000 square-foot lounge in the true sense of the word, The Red Canary offers plush Old World surroundings with comfortable seating lending itself well to intimate socializing. In the warmer months, a beautiful garden will further extend the lounge and provide a 2,200 square-foot patio where guests can also drink and eat and enjoy daily food and beverage specials while enjoying the «beautiful Chicago weather.»
