What the eff – this place has closed for the winter, and since they don’t have a website they have no way to let people know before they walk over. GET A DAMN WEBSITE.

I had lunch here recently and really enjoyed it. I wasn’t sure what to expect from an ice cream joint, but the sandwich was tasty and the soup was delicious. And the price was great! I am going to be back frequently.

LOVE this place! Can not say how happy I am that this has come to my neighborhood! Great coffee, food (they just started serving soup and sandwiches!), and desserts in an awesome atmosphere. and at a great price! I never write reviews but have started for Purple Cow. This is because I selfishly want everyone to go here and keep it in business so I myself can continue frequenting the place. Also the owner is probably the friendliest person you will ever meet. Love me some P. Cow. Please support it as well!

This is EXACTLY what our neighborhood needed! We basically go here about once a week. Mark the owner is very friendly and provides fantastic ice cream. Try the chocolate peanut butter… It’s to die for. Be bold and ask for it with a hat.
They also do private parties, which is a big plus.

We hosted our daughter’s first birthday here last weekend. The owner, Mark, is so helpful and accommodating. Everyone loved the ice cream treats, especially the amazing chocolate peanut butter or birthday cake ice cream. Even though we were in a business, we felt like we were somewhere comfortable and cozy thanks to Mark’s kindness and the flexibility.

Heard about this place from Facebook and decided to stop in a few weeks ago. I got some chocolate ice cream with peanut butter ripple and added Butter finger pieces. It was wonderful! I also bought a bag of pretzels covered with Peanut butter. They were good but next time Ill try the regular Chocolate covered. They also had many other candy items as well as popcorn.
The man behind the counter was very friendly and also told me that they will start serving pie soon. I am gonna have to stop in they should be doing that by now. I was also informed on Facebook about a waffle sampling but I could not go so sad. Waffles with ice cream and toppings you cant go wrong with that!

This is a fun little ice cream shop in an area without a whole lot of businesses or food options. The proprietor is extremely friendly and gives recommendations on ice creams and all of the wares that the shop offers.

Stopped in here with my girlfriend on one very hot day while driving home from work. We both had the birthday cake on a waffle cone and we both loved it. The ice cream was very good and had big chunks of cake in it. Don’t know if it was homemade or bought from a distributor, but it was really really good.
The décor could use some help from an interior decorator, but who really cares about décor at an ice cream shop. It’s not the Ritz.
The workers were very friendly and there was no line, so no waiting.
What more can you ask for from a hole in the wall ice cream joint?

After getting yelled at by neighborhood friends, I must amend my review.
First, it’s ice cream. And I loved my Peanut butter /​Chocolate ice cream. I shouldn’t be bothered by some of the things that annoyed me during my visit, but b/​c I’m in the service industry, I’m probably (definitely) pickier than a normal person.
However, I stick by my guns on 2 points:
1. POST YOUR HOURS OF OPERATION!!! It would even annoy God, if God paid attention to ice cream shop hours.
2. The Up-​charge for bigger ice cream that I didn’t ask for. Don’t give me 2 scoops w/​out asking and DEFINITELY don’t charge me for it afterwards.

Dude, there’s a new ice cream place in UPTOWN! They have a nice selection of flavors, the location is casual and clean, and the guy who works the counter, who I believe is the owner (since he’s the only guy I’ve ever seen working), is friendly. I like their «take a penny, leave a penny» cup at the register. It’s very convenient. I must remember to bring some extra pennies next time…
One of my favorite things is birthday cake, so I tried their birthday cake ice cream and was VERY pleased with the large chunks of cake that you can actually taste mixed into the ice cream. The last few times I’ve had a tough workout, I’ve headed here for a post-​workout, high-​glycemic carb fix. I always get birthday cake ice cream because I love it so much and it REALLY hits the spot, but I should probably try something else at some point!
It’s nice having a place like this in the hood! They’re open pretty late, 10:00, I believe is what the owner told me. Try it out!

I still like this place, but a couple things has knocked off one of the stars:
* They now open at 2pm, instead of 12pm. However, lack of any posted hours on the door/​windows means that I spent several mornings peering sadly in the window on a hot weekend wondering why no one was there.
When I asked them about it, the older guy who works there was very snippy and rude with me, like I was blaming them or something or changing their hours! No, I just wanted to let you know that you might want to post them, because each morning I came by there were people waiting out front!
* No «to go» containers. Sometimes you want to take your Sundae or Scoops on the road — but they don’t have any to go containers, or even a lid for the bowls.
* Smoothies are not good. We went last night and got a mango and a strawberry banana smoothly — they both tasted artificial and chemically. I didn’t get a chance to peek back into the kitchen to see if they were using actual fruit, but the taste definitely pointed towards some sort of blech base instead of fresh stuff. I actually threw mine out mostly full.
I’ll still come by for an occasional cone to support the local place, but I’m not so enthralled as before.

What a great little ice cream shop! The man that helped my friends and I was very friendly and offered great service. The décor is very cute and the prices are more than reasonable. The birthday cake ice cream was the best I’ve ever had! I will definitely go again.

The ice cream was good and there were plenty of choices. My only disappointment was in the cones. I got a sugar cone and it was stale. My husbands regular cone was not very fresh either. For us this place would jump a couple of stars if they just made their own fresh waffle cones. I worked in an ice cream place for years and i know its a simple addition that would add a lot of flavor.
Otherwise the décor is cute and the single staff member we encountered was friendly enough.
We will probably go back because it is so close but its not going to be something I get a special craving for.

Yum! A great addition to the neighborhood (and I love that it is a block from the gym — HA!). Excellent selection of flavors, very nice staff who overwhelmed me with sweet options. Husband loved the Caribou Mocha and got a huge shake. I went for the classic mint chocolate chip — excellent. Lots of places to sit inside if you are so inclined.

Honestly, I was disappointed. I’m glad to see any new business open up in the area and an ice cream shop sounded great. However, the day we strolled in I thought The Purple Cow didn’t deliver. It was pretty expensive for the amount they gave you and the run of the mill quality of ice cream that they are using. There’s nothing special about Kemp’s. Not to mention, the décor looked very unfinished. The back of the chairs were not upholstered and gave them a very shoddy look. The back room looked very unfinished and had boxes laying about. My companions and I all agreed that just spending a little more effort would have made a big difference.
Honestly, I hope it’s just me and my friends and this place does well, but The Purple Cow left me without any excitement to return.

As I live right down the street from the newly opened store, I couldn’t be happier with what I found. The space has been empty for some time and I’m really just glad that it’s been filled.
That being said, the shop itself is very nice. Great selection of ice cream, (I got the birthday cake flavor on the weekend of my birthday,) and they stay open till 10PM! I love anything late night, and late night ice cream is definitely tops on that list.

What a nice little place. I hope it does well. The ice cream was good the treats that I sampled we awesome. The staff was great and friendly. They bragged a lot about how their coffee and pastries were made by local companies. They were awesome. The ice cream was Kemps.
Price was ok but far from a deal. If I’m in the area coming from Montrose Beach or something I’d stop in. Parking, location, and price don’t make it worth seeking out though.
They also had a back room the said they were going to rent out for parties and things, but it looked kind of like a rape dungeon.
I hope it does ok in the winter. It was a great place and good for a treat.

Good Ice Cream, Pretty good Price, Nice Staff, This is making me hungry again. Go there you will be Glad. Had the Moose Tracks in a sugar cone, Big Scoops… MMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

Partner and I ventured over after a long hot day at the pool (hey someone’s got to do it.) It’s a very nice storefront family business with very nice (presumably) family employees. We each had a shake, cookie dough for Partner and chocolate pour moi. The large shake is $ 4.25 which, while not exactly cheap, is certainly not outrageous either. I’ll probably try the red velvet mini bundt cake at some point but we’ll definitely be back for more ice cream.

OK so it’s a little tough to NOT give ice cream FIVE stars in my book, but if there was a 6^th star option or an extra thumbs up or something, The Purple Cow Ice Cream Café would have earned it!
My fiancé and I were some of their first customers last night. The staff was so friendly and excited to be open. They encouraged us to try a ton of their products and pointed out their most delicious and unique ice cream choices (birthday cake!!! do it). They carry locally made sweets, including Crumbs cupcakes and a mouth-​watering marble pound cake. For those of you who need to wet your whistle while enjoying your ice cream treat, Purple Cow has Metropolis coffee and bottles of water ready for purchase!
