The Lashe Spot

Came here with a Groupon for a mani/​pedi. I REALLY wanted to like this place because the girl who did my nails was very nice and sweet. But sadly, this was just not worth my time or my money. First of all, they offered Groupons for a no-​chip mani, a pedicure, and a mani/pedi…but no option to upgrade the mani/​pedi to a no-​chip for the same price difference as the Groupons. So I just went with the regular mani/​pedi.
The mani/​pedi took almost two hours. Time for the pedicure seemed normal, but I have no idea how the manicure took an hour when she didn’t even soak my nails and it was just normal trimming/​polish. Anyway, ALL the polish came off after less than 24 hours. It just started peeling off in whole pieces, on multiple nails, within hours of me leaving the place. I don’t even want to blame the technician for this cuz it must be some kind of crap base coat they’re using that caused it to come off so uniformly. I didn’t even bother calling to complain because I wasn’t about to waste another hour of my time just to have the color come off in a day again. (I repainted my own nails at home and they stayed perfect for a week.) Should’ve just given me the option to upgrade to a no-​chip because your regular manis are NOT giving anyone a reason to come back!

I actually came to Lashe Spot after buying a Groupon for a no-​chip mani. I walked in 30 minutes early for my appointment, but they were able to accommodate me and take their time on my manicure, too. I love the nail design Gina did on my nails, which took a lot of time – and you can tell that she’s a perfectionist, too. I’ve gotten SO many compliments on my manicure, and they’ve been very sturdy so far! You can definitely tell that this place focuses more on eyelashes than manicures, though. I thought it was a bit weird that I had to wash my own hands in the bathroom after my nails were trimmed, but I only came to get a quick manicure, so I didn’t mind as much. Based on the service I got for the manicure though, I would consider coming back here for a lash treatment.

The phone rang off the hook. I was scheduled an appointment with Evelyn at the buck town location to see her the following day and upon arriving she said she didn’t offer that service and didn’t have enough time to see me. I asked to speak to the manager Justin and she gave me the number of the same location. I told her this was where I currently was and she said oh well they should reroute you to where he is at. He was at this Lincoln park location very shortcoming and offered nothing for me driving over an hour to come see her before work. I will never book again.

I have been getting lash extensions for about 8 months now. The extensions I received from The Lashe Spot were really bad. So bad that I have a bald spot in my lashes from where the technician glued a huge clump of my natural lashes and the synthetic lashes together. After talking to a few people, I now know that a reputable company would have offered a guarantee and would not have used the cluster method (clumping lashes together). Extremely disappointed and am now ordering a hefty supply of lash growth serum to try to repair the damage that was done by The Lashe Spot.
I will say, the technicians at the Bucktown Lashe Spot are a little bit better, but I still would never go back after this experience at their River North location.

TERRIBLE SERVICE, way over priced ($ 165), and lashes are mediocre, at best. I have been getting my lashes done for almost 6 years now, and am a consistent client, so I know my sh*t. I booked an appointment for volume lashes. I was a little late because of traffic, however I called them to give them a head’s up. When I arrived, the guy at the front desk (who happened to be the manager) was extremely rude and kept telling me that I’m late (as if I didn’t call ahead of time). When I finally sat with the lash lady, it took her about 10 minutes to even start on my lashes (she had to clean up, get the lashes out, etc.- things that should have been ready). Then there was miscommunication about the pricing (which I called about TWICE). I ended up only having about 25 minutes for my lashes and once she finished, they were scarce, UNEVEN, and not full at all. I asked her to add a few more in, to even them out and she refused because she had a client waiting.
This place is dirty (the lash chair was filthy), completely unprofessional, and it is very evident that they are amateur lash specialists. Also, the volume lashes are completely over priced ($ 165). AVOID THE LASHE SPOT!

I have been getting my eyelashes done here for about 8 months and have had mixed results. Sometimes they are done really well and others they are average. Last night a new girl, Aika, did my lashes and she was absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend trying her and you will love your lashes.

I was wary of coming to this place because of the negative reviews on Unilocal.However, definitely couldn’t beat the Unilocal deal for feather lashes. Like other people said, it’s a bit weird when you first walk in because there was no one sitting in the salon. I think it’s because they only do appointments for all their services.
The girl that was doing my lashes convinced me to add $ 25 for lashes that curled so the lashes don’t just stick straight out. She explained to me that the feathers are technically only a half set of extensions instead of the full, and if I want a full set it’ll be more expensive.
It’s been 2 weeks and I’ve noticed a few of my lashes falling out, but most of it stayed intact. With extensions I feel like I never have to wear eyeliner or mascara.
I don’t think I’ll be back since the place is pricey without the Groupon deal.

Ugh, I really debated between 2 and 3 stars. At the end, I have to give it a 2 based on ambiance.
Pros– 1. So close to the Armitage stop on the brown line. Yes. 2. 5 days in and my lashes still look good. They are sparse, yes, but I guess that’s what I got with my «Feather Lash» Groupon. I suppose I can’t fault them for that. Also, full disclosure. I have gotten them wet yet in the shower, and I’m worried that once I do they’ll be gone. 3. Online appointment setting. 4. My lady told me what to expect as I was laying there (the tweezers sound like scissors but are not, etc). 5. These lashes are weightless. But then again, I’m not impressed with how noticeable they are.
Cons– 1. The AMBIANCE, y’all. It was weird. First, when I walked in it was stone silent. No one getting their nails done, I couldn’t tell if anyone was getting anything else done, nothing. So I sat down. 2. It turns out the person working the front desk also was the one doing my lashes. Alright… 3. No music in the room, no talking. Again, just stone silent. I felt super weird. 4. They taped my eyebrows, my lower eyelid, my upper eyelid… all over. It was uncomfortable and felt unnecessary.
The last thing is the biggest reason that I will not be back. The woman who did my lashes was ADAMANT that if I came back longer than 2 weeks, that I would be charged for a full set and not for a fill in. Listen, GFY. There is no chance that I’m coming back in 2 weeks (especially when, with good care, they can last at least 4 weeks) and I’m not paying full price for what I got. There are better places with better prices that will allow you to come back at your convenience (2 weeks X dollars, 3 weeks Y… etc). I tried a place in the past and it was such a treat. So relaxing, the woman really took her time, and my lashes were stunning. This go ’round, I’m just not all that impressed. Onto the next one!

I called them to request more information on their eyelash extension course. The person who answered the phone made it seem like I was going to get a call back but have not heard from them. Very disappointed because I was very interested in taking their class.

I swear, this «space» is cursed. First it was a hair salon with BS customer service & now its this new place still with crap for customer service. I wouldn’t go back. Rather pricey product for having to wait in freezing temps to get let in. I arrived 5 minutes before my appointment to find the door locked. Had to wait in these freezing winds. No welcoming greeting, no apology for having to wait outside. The ushered me back for my service. Had no personality. And barely thanked me for my business and made no attempt at making me a returning clientele post service. Wont bother coming back for subpar. Im in the spa industry. I don’t expect much but cant stand the attitude that I’m inconveniencing someone with my business.

I bought groupons for a set of lashes and a gel manicure. It was my first time getting lash extensions, and she did a good job of explaining the process and my options. I liked the look when it was finished, but I think it is a bit much for me to maintain or do regularly. The lashes lasted a while –and would have lasted longer had I not started to take them off.
The gel manicure was great. She did a fantastic job with my cuticles, and the polish lasted 3 weeks before it chipped.
Overall, I had a good experience here and would definitely go back.

I don’t even know where to begin. I bought a Groupon for this place bcuz I wanted to find a hip friendly salon. I only needed a fill but ended up buying a full set on groupon for only $ 49 which is still cheaper than a full at my usual spot. For starters I was running late due to no parking, construction and school letting out. I called to let them know I would be 10 mins late and the receptionist rushed me saying she is always completely booked and that she would only wait 15 mins. Got it, I’ll be there less than 10 mins late.
Upon arriving the whole place was empty and the lady doing my lashes was cleaning the toilet! Da Fuq??? Gross. Not to mention neither the receptionist nor the esthetician greeted me with an hello. They were talking amongst themselves while waving me into the room and pointing to the table! So rude! Then while getting my lashes done I was trying to make conversation to clear the awkwardness and she wanted nothing to do with it. The whole time the door was open which was uncomfortable and to too it off the chick had her friend come by and stand in the doorway talking to her the entire time! So unprofessional. Rushing through my lashes she says ok all done and when I looked in the mirror I could feel my temper boiling. She left a huge gap on my left eye which was noticeably visual! I asked her to fix it of course.
2 days later my lashes just start falling out to the point I’m afraid to wash my face! It been 7 days and 60% of my lashes are gone already! I’m extremely disappointed and expect a refund since I surely will never go back! I do NOT recommend this place.

I tried this place using a Groupon for Eyelash extensions — it was AMAZING. The staff is very friendly and kind (they take some warming up but really are very sweet); the process is simple and relaxing, and the lashes last for about 3 weeks.
You can go back for a ‘re-​Lashe’ appointment the cost of which is about ¹⁄₃ the normal price — BUT (and pay attention!!) TO GET THIS DISCOUNT YOU MUST BOOK THE APPOINTMENT AT CHECKOUT OF YOUR INITIAL VISIT, and. YOU MUST BOOK IT FOR WITHIN 2 WEEKS from the initial visit. ALSO: THEY REQUIRE THAT YOU HAVE 70% of your lash extensions still intact (which I personally feel is impossible after 2 – 3 weeks). I found this out when I booked a re-​Lashe appt and came into the salon. needless to say I came in expecting to pay $ 40 and ended up paying $ 95. The technician was annoyed at first and told me this policy, but she ended up giving me a slight discount which was thoughtful :)
Aanyway, I upgraded my Groupon to the ‘mascara look’ which was just amazing. I have light skin and my eyelashes are blonde so I was nervous about looking like. I was trying to hard (aka Kardashian-​ing); but like I said it turned out spectacular! I have now gone twice and will be making a third visit soon — I literally haven’t had to wear mascara in months, it’s so freeing!
Another note: many places offer eyelash extensions for less $, but this truly is a situation of ‘you get what you pay for’. The first time I tried the lash thing I went to a place in lakeview where it took 2 hours and my eyes stung the entire time. The lashes were falling off as I was leaving! By the next day they were all off so I called and went back for them to do it again. It took nearly 3hours and the lashes were completely gone by the next day. Don’t make this mistake!

It was super easy to schedule an appointment online. Although when I went in I was not impressed at all. I’ve been getting my lashes done for a bit now. So I’m very particular about how I would like them done. They were way too long and had too much glue. The stylist even glued the extension on my eyelid. My real eyelash was not able to grow in 2 weeks. I love my eyelash extension to add length without damaging my real eyelashes! I guess I will not be having my next fill here.

I’ve been to several lash places prior to The Lashe Spot and my initial phone consulate was amazing. Mimi took so much time with me answering EVERY question/​concern I had. I have a thyroid condition which causes very thin eye lashes and brows. Lashe spot was suggested by a friend via FB and Groupon. I must admit the price of $ 175 without Groupon ($ 75.00 Groupn price) would have been too steep for me. So glad I brought the deal. Mimi is wonderful. She always makes sure I’m comfortable and everything about the process is clean. She continually checks that everything is ok with me. I LOVE my lashes they look so natural you would never know they were not mine. Definitely suggest buying the pre-​packages to safe some money why not. Mimi has been the only person I’ve worked with and wouldn’t have it any other way. Initially I was hesitate to pay that price every two weeks but it is no different then a nail fill or a few cocktails/​bottle of wine with friends. One other person commented that her lashes fell out within a few days. If you don’t follow directions don’t care who does your lashes they will come out. On a rare occasion my lashes came out sooner then they should have and Mimi took care of the problem immediately. It may have been caused by humid weather, rain, etc. but as I said all my concerns were dealt with. Love love love my lashes and The Lashe Spot is by far the best place I’ve experienced. The shop is always clean and I’m a fussing neat freak. The staff is kind and makes me feel welcome. I have never been rushed or have I waited more then a few minutes if I had to wait at all. Would recommend this shop to everyone and ask for Mimi she is terrific! g

I’ve wanted to get my eyelashes done for a very long time and jumped on the chance to try it with the groupon becuase it is so expensive. Thank goodness I had a groupon because I feel that spending $ 175 is wayyy to expensive for the product and service I received. They were nice but the I felt extremely rushed. I had the last appointment of the night and I could tell that everyone wanted to leave. The door to our room was open the entire time and it was not very relaxing. While I was getting my eyelashes done the lady was talking to the other lady closing up the shop. The entire process should take 30 – 45 mins and I was out of there in less than 30. I felt that I had to ask the questions about how to care for them and most of them have already fallen out a few days later. I just felt that they didn’t want to do my eyelashes and rushed through the entire appointment. I would be interested in going back to someplace but not this lashe spot again. The groupon is supposed to help return business and they did not get my return business.
I did hear that the bucktown location was a lot better though. In addition, when I was here I did see a bug in the room I was in crawling around. I’m thinking this might be because they are on the basement floor but it was still gross especially when someone is touching your eyes.
Overall, I would not recommend this location and would try the Bucktown salon instead.

I tried this place on a groupon for a haircut in january. I don’t have a regular stylist and have been shopping around for someone great so trying it out seemed like an ok venture on a groupon for just a rutine haircut. When i arrived, they didnt have my appointment down in the books and my stylist who was supposed to be there at 10 am showed up 30 minutes late. If the haircut was amazing, i would have forgiven all, but unprofessionalism and tardiness for a service is hard to over come. There was one other employee in the salon and she did her best to communicate the status of my stylist’s arrival, but 30 minutes later, im disinterested in anyone who walks in to Work 30 minutes late carrying 2 – 3 cups of coffee for his coworkers. If you are late for work in my world, you don’t get to stop for coffee– you just Go where you are supposed to be.
Anyway, i cant speak to the rest of their services as i only recieved a haircut but the lack of customer focus is enough from keeping me from coming back. The stylist was a HE (meaning i don’t recall his name) and i couldnt wait for my time there to end. Not for me. I need a little more dependability and professionalism from a salon, even if im on a coupon/​groupon.

I usually go to Juko in Wicker Park for my nails, but I felt like trying out the PrettyQuick service and see what I could book online. Within minutes I got 3 bids for a no-​chip manicure. I picked The Lashe spot because it offered the best price and was at a convenient location where I knew I’d be able to find parking.
I’m so glad I went with them! The salon itself was very clean and bright with a kind of minimalist décor I guess. The people were soooo nice and knowledgeable. My nail technician (I think her name was something like Jenn but I forget now and feel bad, She was blond with a pink steak) was awesome. I was toying with the idea of doing a funkier French with different color tips and she brainstormed with me. Unfortunately they’re not trained yet to do multicolored fades but I’m glad they take their training seriously and she said that they should have that capability soon.
While I was there there was also another customer getting a keratin treatment and I could hear her stylist answering all her questions easily and in depth. I also peppered the lash specialist with questions while i was there and he too was very on top of his game.
In total I got my old gel mani removed and a new no chip French for $ 45 which seems like a pretty great deal to me.
what i liked about using PrettyQuick to book it was that unlike groupon and other sites, when i accepted the offer i was also getting the appointment at the same time. i think this resulted in better service than the mess you offen get with using those other deals.
in short, I would totally go to The Lashe Spot again, and also use PrettyQuick to book it :)

I got my first keratin treatment at the Lashe Spot and they did an amazing job! Everyone there was very knowledgeable and experienced at what they were doing. I was nervous at first, but when I met Marie she put my mind at ease. I bought another keratin treatment before I left and this time I bought the hair cut too. I’m writing this review a few weeks later and absolutely love my treatment!!! How did I live so long without this? I would recommend the Lashe Spot for any hair needs!
