I play in a rock band, and I desperately needed to find an inexpensive, yet professional recording studio to track our debut EP.
I just happened to come across a craigslist ad and I found The Jungle.
At first I was a bit apprehensive, as I checked out their website and saw that their clientele was mostly hip-​hop acts.
But their craigslist ad was catered toward rock bands.
The studio itself is located in a suite within the Music Garage.
It is very comfortable to work in, and offers a couple comfy leather couches, a mini fridge to store some beer, or whatever your poison. Also a Jimmy Johns is a couple blocks away that will deliver when you get hungry during those extra long sessions. Bonus!
It is great that it is in the music garage, as everyone around you is a likeminded, musician type. It is just a great, positive environment.

With rates, we happened to get on a special «band» deal that involved a set price for recording ten songs within a month, and then having those songs mixed and mastered as well. It was such an insane deal, I couldn’t pass it up.
Regularly though, I believe their rates are 25 dollars an hour.
Alex, the engineer, is a tireless worker and, as long as the time is not booked by any other act, he will record you at any hour of the night, as this studio is ²⁴⁄₇.
Alex is a really pleasant individual to be around, and he will work with you endlessly to help you achieve the sound you are looking for.
While he does have hip hop engraved in his DNA, to him, music is music.
He doesn’t just push buttons and set up microphones, he really wants your songs to sound as good as they can.
While he is relatively new to recording a rock sound, Alex is a sponge for knowledge and is constantly getting better.
Currently, we have tracked all our songs for our EP, and they are now in the mixing stage.
This is a great up-​and-​coming studio, and I believe they will become a well known name among the Chicago music scene.
