The Grooming Gallery

Beyond exceptional treatment for my Pet.
They took very good care of my dog and were great about calling me when he was all pampered and ready to go.

Loved the grooming gallery. Friendly folks, clean as a whistle, very welcoming — they even gave my Grandson a lollipop. Yes, poor Jinx (my blue point himalayan) was jacked up, knarly, to the point of not wanting to touch her. Then I discovered the Grooming Gallery — they made her back into a cat again. We are all lovey dovey and Jinx looks like a tiny lion with an attitude (of course, that’s how she normally looks). Thank you Grooming Gallery (reasonable price)) — we’ll be back. Check’em out!

I just walked Lucy on over today and got her nails trimmed. I am too afraid to do this myself. The groomer made sure that he let my dog know he was there to do his job. He introduced himself to her, and she seemed to be quite fine with this. Lucy was very calm even though I was at the desk smelling and checking out various items not as close to her to alleviate any fears she might have. I was impressed that there was no whining, crying, or barking. It was very quick and and a flat $ 10! I will be sure to come back.

This place is exactly what me and my 8 year old basset hound need. 2 blocks from home, convenient hours, family owned, and affordable. I take my basset every 6 weeks and they have him all cleaned up in a couple hours. They do a great job cleaning his ears and filing his nails (even though he’s not a fan of either), and his coat is clean and shines for weeks after a visit. Whatever shampoo they use must be for sensitive skin because usually he is itchy for a few hours after a grooming but not at all after I got him back from this place. I’m so glad I found this place!!!

If you want even mediocre service and respect for your pet, don’t even think of coming here. They had my long haired cat for over five hours, and when I picked him up, he still had tons of mats in his fur (poor guy). I grabbed their scissors and had to cut off the mats myself. Isn’t that why I brought him to a professional?
They also claimed to have given him a bath, but he had poop all over his back legs. Maybe they’re better with dogs? Don’t know, and I wouldn’t trust them with my pooch to find out.
From now on, I stick to Paw and Claw– a bit of a hike, but the woman there has always done a fantastic job!

They gave me an 8:30am appointment but did not show up to open the store until 8:40. Then, they said the groomer may not get there until 9. «May Not».? Meaning, they just were not sure when this individual would show up. As a result, I took my pet and left. This is not a professional operation.

I was desperate to have a a grooming shop for my pet dog. I live in Ukranian Village and was surprised to find one just 4 minutes walk away. I called and showed up after 30 minutes with no appointment. Was very happy to see the place, it’s neat, tidy and smell fresh. The groomer, Ricky is very accomodating and considerste for my first-​timer, Mio. Checking the prices for different services and find it reasonable. Was very pleased with the service and this will be my pet grooming home.

Grooming Gallery has always done a great job with my large Goldendoodle. They follow direction very well (Please don’t make her look like a poodle, even though she is half poodle!). My dog always comes back looking great and smelling wonderful. Very happy with them!

We take our husky into this place every couple months, at which point these guys have their work cut out for them. The service here is pretty great, my wife usually take our dog in, I’ve been in only a couple times and they already know who my dog is and everything. For folks who aren’t familiar with huskies, the shed like crazy, for real, you wonder if the hair will ever stop coming out. Anyway, they charge us $ 70 for the grooming and are reliably great.

Can’t believe what a great job they did with our great dane. Hair, ears, teeth and nails all look great. Our dog still smells good and his coat is still shiny. Plus, he barely has shed any hair! They trimmed his nails better than anyone else. This is the best he has looked in 6 months! We will be back.

Took my cat here for a groom and wouldn’t return if you paid me. I brought my cat in this fall because she’s quite fluffy, and was starting to get some matted spots in her fur from the shedding due to heat (she fights being brushed), so I decided to let a professional deal with it.
I received a call a little while after dropping her off that she had one spot they couldn’t wash or brush out, so I could either just have them buzz that little spot, or give her a lion shave. I thought about fully shaving her for giggles, but the spot was small enough, so I opted to just buzz that part and wait for it to grow back. The groomer also said she’d bring me in the back and let me see what she looked like before we left in case I changed my mind and wanted the full shave.
When I arrived to pick up my cat, not only was I never offered the opportunity to look at the buzzed area or shave the rest, my cat had been sitting out front in her carrier for who knows how long, crying while backed up all the way in her carrier, since a giant black dog was running around the front unattended. I don’t appreciate having my animal terrified; she should have been held in a separate area for cats only, or the dog should have been caged up itself and not allowed to roam throughout the front of the salon without supervision. What if that dog had attacked the carrier or somehow harmed my pet? I paid quickly so I could get my furry baby out of that asinine situation, but the disappointment didn’t stop there. When we got home, her nails had been cut too short, she wasn’t bleeding but they certainly were not done correctly, she STILL had matted spots underneath her legs and on her belly that I cut off with scissors, and she wasn’t even totally dry. I wish I could give 0 or negative stars, this place royally screwed up and I believe could have actually hurt my animal. If you love your pets, keep them far, far away from a place that conducts business like this.

Have taken my cat here twice now, and I’m a fan. Not much more $$ than PetCo, and a WAY better experience. Calm feeling to the place and attentive — also I like that when they call you to say they’re done, they say «your baby is ready for you.» Silly of me maybe, but I think it’s a nice touch :)

Like many other fellow reviewers I had taken my dog here several times but upon picking her up today I can honestly say never again.
First off my drop off was 1:30 and they said they were backed up so it could be close to 4 hours before she was ready, while a heads up on this would have been nice I was flexible assuming that she would be fine chilling in the grooming area while they finished other dogs. Well after 6 hour I was finally able to pick her up and upon getting her out of what I can only assume was a small crate the groomer informed me that she had an «accident» and he needed to clean the mess from her fur. My immediate concern was why is my 10 year old dog that never has accidents having sudden issues, which I was then informed that they don’t take the dogs out while they are there because «its not part of the service» yet they hold the animals for 6+ hours?
The cut also looked a mess and the staff tried to convince me this was the «classic scottie cut»… Again, my dog is 10 and she has never had this «classic cut» before.
Regardless my biggest issue is with how they treated my dog while she is in their care. While the hope is she looks fantastic, putting her in a negligent environment isn’t why I am paying $ 60+ to get her groomed. Do yourself a favor, save your money and sanity and find another place. We will not be going back here ever again.

We have taken our dog here a few times, and she comes out looking ok, but not great. She usually gets a full groom, teeth brushed, nails trimmed, etc. She is an English Cocker Spaniel, so there is a certain way to trim her, but it does not seem like the techs here know exactly what to do. I hope for the best when I drop her off. Unfortunately, this last time, we received the worst…
Our last experience: I asked the groomer to go a little shorter in certain areas due to the Summer heat, and they took it way too far. Her tail looked like a nub, her ears were the shortest they’ve ever been, and her paws were cut too short. I was shocked when I picked her up and didn’t say anything at the time because I felt bad. I even tipped nicely. I brought her home and my husband flipped out and said she looks terrible. Not only did she look awful (poor thing!), but since certain areas were cut too short, she kept licking at her paws and they became irritated and kept shaking her ears as too much dirt was getting in (this type of dog has longer ears to protect her from getting gunk in their ears). Alas, because the ears were cut too short, they became extra irritated and had to be cared for. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. I did call the groomer a few days later to let them know they cut her too short and she had some irritations, and she said well there’s not much we can do now, but I’ll note it for the future. Unfortunately, there will not be a future trip based on this last experience.

Same time next year? This is my third review, written almost to the day, one year later, as my last two reviews. My bad for not getting my dog Lucky in more than once a year but it doesn’t stop Eric from rescuing her from more time in matted hair hell. He is gentle and kind and Lucky looks and feels great. I promise to get to The Grooming Gallery more often. I don’t live near but it’s worth a cab or bus ride to get this level of expertise. I’m three for three now — pretty good odds. :)

We took my bulldog here yesterday to get his nails trimmed. We try to do it at home but every time he acts like we are torturing him. It’s traumatizing. We’ve tried a few other grooming places, but his nails always still seem longer than we would like so we were still searching for a better place to take him. Enter The Grooming Gallery. We walked in on a Saturday, no appointment needed and no wait. They took him back and put him up on a table. We could see him but we chose to stand back so he wouldn’t act overly dramatic.
They did a fantastic job. His nails have never looked better. We were in and out of there in 5 minutes and only $ 10 poorer. Totally worth it.
Can’t give 5 stars yet since we’ve only been once!

I LOVE this place!!! I started going to Grooming Gallery last year (2011) and have gone back multiple times. Deb is the cat groomer, and she totally rocks! She loves my kitties and treats them like her own. Unfortunately, I just lost one of my cats, and both Deb and Ingrid (the new owner) called me to make sure i was OK, and to see if they could do anything for me. Who does this anymore?! They truly love their customers and really care. I highly recommend them…

My dog was cut here. She received 6 stitches at the Clybourn vet office on a Saturday. While I was reimbursed for the vet visit (and my dog doctor didn’t charge me for taking out the stitches), I did email her to request to reimburse me for the soft cone and they never responded.
This sucked. I had to spend my Sat. afternoon at the ER, then stay the whole weekend in as my dog came out of the drugs and moaned. She goes to day care but couldn’t so I had to interview walkers on Sunday evening and pick one because I work late hours and need someone to take her out. She had meds she had to take every day to prevent infection. And I had to take her back to the vet to get the stitches.
I wasn’t going to post this if they reimbursed me for everything, but the fact that they didn’t really ticked me off, since it was such a overall terrible experience. Do not take your dog here.

I have been going to the Grooming Gallery since the old location on North Ave. I love the new location on Damen even better.
My old friends had dog’s named cookie and keno both have since past but they lived at the Grooming Gallery. I always knew they were groomed there because they always come out with the cutest bandannas around their necks!
In the past the Gallery took great care of my Akita Shepard and now they groom my little Shit-​stu Gizmo. He gets a great cut and comes out so fluffy and clean… and the most important thing is that he is super happy not stressed when I pick him up.
I have tried the big chain stores in the past and that was a big mistake.
I must say that Grooming Gallery is a keeper. They are kind and caring!

I brought my feisty cat here for his first-​ever grooming experience. He had a bath, lion-​cut, nail clipping and ear cleaning. I was extremely nervous to bring him anywhere for grooming, let alone a place that is more known for servicing dogs. The place is filled with dogs – dog hair flying all over the place. There is a separate room for cats, but you have to walk through the dog room to get there. When we arrived in the cat room, there were already two unhappy cats awaiting their grooming. Two and a half hours later they called me to pick up my cat. They had him sitting in his carrier in the DOG room! He was terrified!
The appointment cost $ 75, which is quite a bit, but the woman assured me that the cut should last a few months. My cat looked really cute with the lion cut, despite my expectations that he would come out looking like a chihuahua. They even put a little scarf around his neck. When I got him home, I checked out his claws and noticed that a couple of them were bloody, like the woman had cut them too short.
I will not bring him back there. I get the feeling they are not animal people.
