I went last night with a group of 5 of us. The place is very nice, beautifully dimly lit & feels quite welcoming. Staff is very friendly and we were pleased to find that we were able to have access to Gino’s menu(which is on the first floor). We attended the 9:30pm show & had a good time. Drinks were pretty good and we were comfortably seated. When the show ended, people had to clear out quickly because the next show, which was«The Big Sexy Show», was due to start in the next 15 min. We all decided to buy tickets and stay for that show too, since it was different than what we had just seen. We wondered if we would receive a discount on the ticket price, but that wasn’t offered. :/ Well, what they SHOULD have told us was that although this was a different kind of show, THESAME comedians would also be in it, doing THESAMEMATERIAL we had seen 20 min earlier!!! We were all unhappy about it and it made for a somewhat boring show for us. What a waste of money and time, and we all felt it was deceptive of them not to have told us. Had this not happened, I would’ve rated it higher

Had such a great time here! The comics were hilarious and staff was super friendly. Drinks were kind of pricy but I guess that’s what you get in river north– though it was cool that they brew their own beers right in house. The Lasalle St lager was my favorite! #gurlznight

Been coming here since they opened on Ontario street and moved here. Never dissapointed. Maybe one mediocre comic every couple of visits with rest picking up the slack. Come 15 mins early and you’re usually able to snag a seat without reaervation.

Really funny show, and great price. Friendly staff for the most part, but the servers just stood in the corner talking and laughing while many of the tables were waiting to put an order in. Went to the bar and ordered a drink instead and he got annoyed we came up to order; said the servers are supposed to come to us – that wasn’t happening as they were still just chatting. Overall though id recommend.

Came to Chicago for Valentines weekend and went to Geno’s for supper first then the 10pm comedy show(get there about 30 minutes before the show is scheduled to start)…by far the best thing we could have done!!! The food was amazing(they will let you take your food upstairs to the comedy show if you are not finished eating) the show was hilarious(Brady Matthews and his opening acts were great as well as the HOST might have been my favorite SHEWASAMAZING!!!), the atmosphere was perfect small but perfect!!! This is a must see show and place to visit if you go to Chicago! Highly recommended cant wait to go back and see another show!

My husband and I came here last night and had a great time! We bought VIP tickets, which were only $ 10 more than regular seats, so that we could sit in the front row. The comedians were spot-on, and the audience was warm and receptive to them, which made for a fun-filled evening. The drinks were made well and were average-priced for a Chicago cocktail. The service was attentive and friendly. Overall, I’d highly recommend coming here, and I’m sure I’ll be back.

This was the worst comedy club experience I’ve had in my life. The comedians were below average. By the end no one was laughing and the jokes were just either awkward or depressing. Basically there were anything but funny. When I called the place a lady on the phone said that the ticket office opens at 6. My friend and I got there on time and waited for 25 minutes. It was closed. Apparently when we came back 15 minutes before the show started another lady informed us that they opened at 7pm and not 6pm. Really? Get it right.

Affordable night of entertainment! Above Geno’s East Pizza, for those who don’t know, this little place packs big laughs! The host Laura was super funny! My favorite act was T. Murph. He was hilarious. I was bussing up the whole time he was up there, and honestly I think he should have been the headliner/feature act. He reminded me of Kevin Hart a little in the way he spoke, but had funny jokes for days… UNLIKE Kevin Hart. Another cool part about this place is that they sit you and your party on one side of the table, and the other half of the table goes to other guests. So you can meet and mingle with new people if you want, because you are all at the same table.(It sucks if you don’t want to mingle, because the guests may keep talking to you while you’re out trying to enjoy your evening with whomever you came with). I didn’t try any of the drinks or food, but it looked good from what I could see. One thing I don’t like is that if you come early you have to wait outside of the room, instead of being able to be seated. I def plan on going back here to see some of the other acts/talent. Salute to Laura… She was the only girl, among a sea of male comedians. She held it down!

Came here with the boyfriend for date night when we visited Chicago and we really enjoyed it. The comic was funny and the show was very enjoyable. I believe my boyfriend got a Groupon deal — $ 26 for two tickets and an appetizer. We got there pretty early. We got pretty good seats, second row in the audience. First row is right next to the stage, so it’s hard to look up. Second/third row is the best place to sit. My boyfriend and I ordered some beers to start. They were brewed in house in the restaurant downstairs. I originally wanted a Witte Chicks Dig Me, but they ran out. Instead, we both ordered a La Salle St. Lager. I really enjoyed that beer. A little lighter than I expected, but it was delicious. For our appetizer, we ordered the Spin Artichoke Dip. This was good as well. My only complaint is that they don’t offer tap water here. They charge you for bottled water — $ 1.75 each I believe. I wish they disclosed this instead of finding out after they bring the water and me having to question if they have tap. Overall, had a pretty pleasant experience here. With the groupon deal, it is totally worth the experience. Just beware of the water charge!

Had an absolutely lovely date night here last night! Got a groupon for a great deal for tickets and an appetizer, and loved the atmosphere. All the acts were funny! This would be 5 stars BUT you should get there plenty early if you want to order pizza from downstairs. We got there about half an hour or 20 min before the show, and it was too late. We were a little sad about that, but the appetizers and drinks were great.

I am surprised there aren’t more reviews for this place! I went on a date to this place recently, and have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed myself. You can grab drinks beforehand downstairs at Gino’s which is convenient. The venue is on the third floor and it is quite cozy. You may end up sitting with other people. We sat with a couple who were very friendly and sweet. The host and two openers were funny! And then the headliner was absolutely hilarious! Drinks were okay priced for being downtown and the service was great. I really appreciated that they bring you the check about ten minutes before the main comedian is done. Overall, I recommend this for a fun date or night out with friends!

Love this place for a relaxing Friday night. After a long week at work there is nothing better than just sitting back and laughing away. Get here early to give yourself time to eat dinner at Ginos East which is down stairs. The staff are very friendly. They have different comedians performing every weekend. Check out Groupon for some deals they offer.

Meh. I probably wouldn’t go back unless it was free. Yes, they don’t have glasses of water. You must buy bottles of water which is just shady(we’re gonna buy drinks, calm down you’ll make your money). If you’re going for the late show make sure if you’re ordering a deep dish pizza you order it while you’re in line because Gino’s East closes before the comedy bar does. Also don’t be surprised if the person next to you gets their appetizers and pizza like half an hour before you do. It’s so strange. You will sit there for like 30 minutes wondering how the people next to you got their deep dish pizza and you haven’t even gotten your appetizer yet. I don’t know how they pick and choose who gets their food first while someone else waits til almost the end of the show to get their appetizers. The comedians are ok. What to be expected from Chicago stand up. You can’t expect much from Chicago if you want to see talent then you gotta head out to L.A. I’d say if you get free tickets or a Groupon then maybe it’s worth stopping by. The pizza is delicious. But you can get that by just going to the restaurant. The headliner was hilarious though. He said he’s from L.A. The place looks nice as well. If they advertised more and focused more on their service they could definitely be a contender with Zanies or Laugh Factory.

My girlfriend and I have always been fans of The Comedy Bar so last week for her birthday I arranged for a big group to attend after an early dinner. We were able to enjoy nice drinks, delicious snacks, and watch some very funny comedians. I must say, we liked the old Comedy Bar, but we LOVE the new Comedy Bar! This was my second time at the new location and the atmosphere is so much nicer and the seats are a lot more comfortable! Employees are very friendly and helpful in making sure you have a great experience. It was the first time at the new venue for our friends and they all commented on the seating and overall improved experience with this venue. I highly recommend The Comedy Bar for a group night out or date night. In my opinion it is the BEST place to see comedy in Chicago!

This club is hands down my favorite comedy spot in Chicago. My family lives there and I visit often with friends. Itsthe perfect place to bring out of towners who are looking for a night out in the city. We had never been to the new location before this past weekend, and I have to say I love it. A new headliner, Steve Gillespie, was featured this time and he was hilarious. It’s great that they have new people all the time because I would consider myself a bit of a comedy junkie and its rare that I can find a place that has new out-of-town comedians performing on a weekly basis.(Of course, the locals are great too) Anywho… Beautiful new building, awesome comedians, and great service as always. Oh! And they serve food now too.

I’ve been coming to The Comedy Bar since before it was even The Comedy Bar(since 2010!). I hadn’t been though since they’d moved, so my boyfriend and I decided to check out the new place this past weekend, which is just a couple blocks away in the old Lasalle Power Company building right next to the animal shelter. We brought a pretty big group to the 10pm Saturday show and had a really great time! It was my best friend’s birthday and the staff were very good about accommodating our party at the last minute. We got a decent table on the main floor and were all able to sit together. The new room is SO much nicer than the old one, which made the $ 5 increase in ticket prices so much more worth it; the experience at this place is just indescribable. Oh! And they also serve food now which is a huge plus! We were able to order drinks and appetizers and have everything before the show even started. I was worried that the new location would include a drink minimum, but of course they did not. :) So happy to see this business growing and can’t wait to come back again.

Requested water to go with our cocktails. While I’m away from table, waitress brings bottled water, saying to my wife they don’t have running water. Ok. Fine. Then the bill comes at the end of the show. $ 3 charge for bottled water. Huh? How are they making all the drinks at the bar? They also run their 2-floor Gino’s East restaurant one floor down and there’s no running water? I liked the club, but this dishonest way of scraping a few more bucks from the patrons is just plain wrong.

The best comedy spot in the middle of downtown. They relocated to the gino’s east pizzeria. Smart move. This new location is bigger and roomier. I’ve been a half dozen times. The drinks are good and the food is great. I didn’t give it all five stars because they stopped serving beer in a bucket special. It was the best deal. But regardless, the funniest and best place to laugh.

The Comedy Bar is hands down the BEST place in town to watch a show. I’ve been to the old location 4 – 5 times and tonight was my time at the new location and it did not disappoint. The new place is on the 3rd floor of The Crappy Bar/Restaurant That Will Not Be Named. Once you walk up there’s the reservation desk and waiting area. After you walk in the doors it opens up to a large area with open beam ceilings, nice size bar to the right and stage straight ahead. As always the comics are hilarious and for the price it can’t be beat. The price has gone up from the $ 10 I used to pay to the $ 20 it costs now. Even with the 100% increase the show is definitely still worth it. The service is nice and they have a bunch of craft beers on tap along with bottles. Way better than the Bud/Bud Light they used to offer at the old place. Keep making me laugh and I’ll keep coming back!
