The Chicago Mosaic School is the first and only premier, not-for-profit Mosaic Art School in North America. The school, founded in 2005, fills the void in education in mosaic arts and serves professional artists, designers, architects, as well as, beginners and enthusiasts. We offer mosaic classes for people of all ages and students working at all levels of experience. CMS also can work with your organization, school or neighborhood to collaborate and create beautiful and sustainable public mosaic art projects. We will work with teachers, students and members of your community to design, fabricate and install innovative and memorable public works.
History
Established in 2005.
The Chicago Mosaic School was founded by award winning classically trained sculptor and mosaic artist Karen Ami. When Ami sought post –graduate educational opportunities in mosaic art, she was surprised to find that she would have to go outside of the United States for academic study. In response to her experience of study abroad, Ms. Ami collaborated with four local professional mosaic artists to create what is now known as The Chicago Mosaic School. With the addition of Italian artist Matteo Randi at the helm as Educational Director, the school has become a work renowned educational center that has filled the void in Mosaic Art education in the United States. We are in our 8th year as the leader in Mosaic education in the USA and abroad. Our 7500 square foot facility houses our classrooms, offices, library, lecture space, artist studios, kitchen, student lounge area, and The Gallery of Contemporary Mosaics (GoCM). Come visit or take a class!
