The Bose Store

I bought a $ 300 pair of noise cancellation headphones and they died after a few months. A neighbor bought the same headphones at Nordstroms, which is located in the same mall. My neighbor’s headphones were out of warranty and while they were still functional, the wires wore through the outside protective coating.
Even though my neighbor told Nordstroms the headphones were out of warranty, they still replaced them without a receipt. He said there wasn’t even any discussion about it; they just handed him a new set almost as quickly as he asked.
When I went to Bose they said that since my headphones were under warranty they would send them in for repair, and I’d have to wait 2 weeks for a refurbished set. I asked why they wouldn’t just replace them. He said they don’t do that. When he finally asked if I bought them at that store (I had), he said he would replace them if I could prove I bought them there. That took about 30 minutes making phone calls to my credit card company until he would believe me that I had in fact bought the headphones at that store. Then he explained that he was doing me a favor by giving me a working pair of headphones.
In short, Nordstroms sells the same stuff at the same price and they are all of a few steps away. Don’t buy anything at this Bose store.

When they had a store on grand ave. they had a group of sales people that were helpful & knowledgeable. You can tell these people were lifers and cared about the customer and product. Bose used to be such a premier product. I needed a specific item so i called the Michigan Ave. location
The extremely young lady said they have it and it was 59.99. I drove downtown. Paid for parking. Walked 3 blocks to the store. I asked for the bluetooth adapter and this young man rings me up for an item over $ 100. I said i called and the young lady told me 59.99 and he said this will do the same thing. I explained i do not need something that will do the same thing for twice as much and then steps out the girl and she says i remember you. You just called. I said yes can you please grab the item i called about and she says we don’t have it. They were smirking and i almost lost it. What a shame the last of the good companies gone to hell. Target has better service.

Worst customer service. Got a $ 300 speaker bundle as a wedding gift. Card said they had paid cash so that we could get a refund if we wanted. Already have a very similar product so we went to Bose store with the complete unopened set and the original gift receipt. Manager would not refund because it was a few days outside of 30 day window. This was a wedding gift. I couldn’t control when it was purchased. I opened it and immediately left town for a honeymoon then tried to return it the day after returning home. Have returned many gifts to many different stores with a variety of customer service reputations but have never been hard balled like this. I had the receipt, the unopened product, and the purchaser paid cash as a wedding gift. And somehow I could not even get a gift card (that I could have sold on eBay). Was only offered an in store exchange for a variety of over priced products that I already own. Called the Bose 800 number and was told it was completely up to the store manager. The manager was completely opposed to acting like a reasonable human and exercising his discretion. Instead he played the whole thing aloof. Please if you are considering buying something here do yourself a huge favor and go home and order the same thing for cheaper on amazon. That way you will be treated like a valuable customer.

Great service from Richardo and Brigita on Saturday August 30. It used to be that anytime you bought or even shopped for a high-​end product, you could expect great service from soup to nuts. That’s generally (sadly) not the case anymore, but it still is at Bose.
Long story short, I came here to trade in my old, malfunctioning QC3 headphones for a new pair. They were well past the warranty, but Bose has a phenomenal program in which they will replace the headphones at a big discount. I mean a BIG discount. The bad news is that this location cannot do a direct exchange, i.e. let you walk out with new headphones. It has to be done by mail, but they take care of all the paperwork in the store.
Richardo and Brigita took good care of me, all smiles and very efficient. So whether you are shopping for something new or looking to service an existing product, it’s nice to know that you can still get quality customer service at Bose.
Postscript: I had to wait about ten days for my headphones to come via UPS, but now that I’ve got them, I am thrilled. They perform even better than the pair that I bought way back when, even though officially the same model. Superior products and excellent service – there is no more effective way to earn customer loyalty.

My Bose Wave radio/​cd (and alarm clock) purchased sometime before the turn of the century died this past weekend. The power just went out and nothing would revive it. After an acceptable mourning period (of a few hours) I stopped by the Bose Store to inquire about getting it serviced — knowing that Bose really stands behind what they sell. Tyler was my sales associate and he told me to bring in the body of the deceased and that he could sell me the latest, greatest model of the Wave radio for about half price. Yes, that’s right — Bose was going to give me a huge discount off a brand new product just because I was a loyal owner and took the time to bring in my old Wave radio.
Next day, I show up with the powerless radio in tow. Tyler takes it and says, «this is actually not the oldest one I’ve ever seen,» and asks me what color I’d like for my new Wave radio. Dashed home, plugged in my new Wave radio and remembered why I buy Bose in the first place — high quality, easy set up and the music… even radio… just sounds more beautiful.
I love that Bose stands by what they sell — even decades later — and I look forward to a happy decade or two with my new Wave radio/​CD. Now if I could just get them to replace the Bose headphones I lost during on a layover at LaGuardia…

I have Bose speakers in my car, my headphones are Bose, and I just ordered a sound-​link. Bose is the best. Great speakers and fantastic customer service that stands by their warranties. Would give 10 stars if I could. I will always be a Bose customer.

This store, which just moved in to the Michigan Ave. Nordstrom abutted mall, is downtown Chicago’s Bose showroom store, much like Apple’s stores work. You might be able to buy Bose’ products elsewhere (probably cheaper), but, this is the place, staffed by people who really know Bose products, who can give you the details, new ideas, and/​or fix Bose products, either in or out of warranty.
I’ve got a movie room, and most of an apartment wired up with Bose, so I’m there quite often, and they give me as much impetus to spend more of my money on their products as I can stand, but aren’t pushy, and I appreciate the expertise, and that’s why I shop there.
