TextureDance Studio specializes in Urban styles and forms; Vogue Dance, Street Jazz, and other non-traditional dance styles, seldomly practiced. In this thriving dance arts community, the art of dance is forever changing, fusing styles and forms. Shows like” So You Think You Can Dance” and «Dancing with the Star» they are inspiring audiences on a global scale, exposing new and innovative dance forms to become culturally accepted.
With a multitude of experience, technique and training, this small but impactful studio is here to inspire some of the nations largest artist and looking to continue to evoke others to follow.
History
Established in 2012.
Founder Damon D. Green, a dance artist located here in the City of Chicago, decided there were multiple studios that catered to traditional dance training but in todays market, dance is moving in a diffrent direction. Greens mission was to offer dance training to the community and expose seldom practiced forms. Thus, the desire to become the first studio that would rebel against traditional technique and give the underdogs a voice in the community.
As a dancer that has struggle with technique training, Green utilizes his artisy and talents while mantain his presence in the contemporary world and fuses these dance style, exploring new vocabulary.

Damon D.
Business Owner
Green relocated from Champaign IL and continued his education at Columbia College Chicago in 2003, where he was introduced to Modern/Contemporary, African and Vogue dance. Vogueing is currently Damon’s specialty and he continues to explore and perform in this form, in its fusion with contemporary vocabulary, with choreographer and Associate Professor of Dance Darrell Jones. Damon maintains his presence in the contemporary dance world with The Seldoms, led by Artistic Director Carrie Hanson. Additionally, Damon has worked with choreographer and dance educator Paige Cunningham, fusing Contemporary Ballet and Vogueing in a piece called «One Careless Gesture Away from Destruction» in 2011. Green has traveled abroad, performing in Russia and Taiwan and introduced Vogueing to Russian students as a master teacher at the” «Isadora» International Festival of Contemporary Dance. Timeout Chicago rated him one of the «Top 10 Men of Dance» in 2010.
