Tablescapes Event Rentals

Just got off the phone with this company based on a recommendation and it was a laughable experience… I asked if they have a large container for keeping food warm that can be plugged in. There was a computer issue, I waited on hold. No big deal. Then was told I need a «cave.» I searched cave on the website and found the item with no plug in the photo. So I ask, «Are you sure this plugs in?» «Yes» is what I’m told. After prodding and prying, I search online and find something called a hot box. Are you sure I don’t need a hot box? «Oh, yeah… that’s what you need.» Sure enough it costs twice the amount as the other place I searched in my research and the customer service person took 10 minutes to get me to this point. And that’s when I hung up. I didn’t make it to the point of a rental, so I can’t speak of how the delivery and actual rental items are, but I don’t think I’ll make it that far.

We worked with Carol’s Event Staffing for our wedding, so they actually coordinated with Tablescapes on our behalf, but the rentals Tablescapes provided were high quality and perfect for our event. Before we knew Carol’s worked with Tablescapes, we research rentals in the city and had already decided Tablescapes was the best based on style and affordability, so we were so pleased they ended up furnishing our wedding. Sidenote: The weathered natural wood chairs are beautiful in person, and super affordable!

This evening after working The Chef BBQ event, hosted by Greencity Markets, I left to catch my bus. Not only were all three trucks blocking the bus lane, but I was heckled by one of the drivers of this company. It was truck USDOT 864 744. He felt that it would be hilarious to harass me as I was waiting for my bus, by using an obscene word. Not only did I feel targeted as an asian woman but I also felt unsafe as the area was not well lit. I would hope that a company with such a public reputation to uphold would train their employees better. I’ll be certain to not use this company in the future.

Horrible. I saw some bad Unilocal reviews before I called but decided to try it anyway. Their pricing is astronomical, but that’s not what I take issue with (the price is the price, that’s their prerogative).
These people just have zero customer service skills. I call to potentially give my business and they’re flat out rude to a potential customer. Sorry, I do not know as much about furniture rental as you do. The poor attitude continued via email interactions until the rep eventually told me they’d cancel their proposal.
They must not need new customers because they have zero shred of ability to interact with others. I hope they work to improve their flaws but until then I would recommend you to look anywhere else.

I called Tablescapes on January 13 based on the reviews that it received on Unilocal.Rose answered and was very sweet on the phone. She promptly emailed me a Price List.
From here — things.went.downhill.
Rose looped in Suzanne who works with the caterer that I am using for my event. I emailed the company with a few options of what I wanted for my event. I wanted actual proposals but I received a response with just prices for individual pieces. I asked her if she could match a competitor’s price and she said no because they were not really a competitor.
She also ignored one of my questions altogether. When I requested the information again her only reply via email was:
«Where and when will we be delivering and picking up, thanks»

I did’t like the tone but I know that it can be misconstrued sometimes over email so I said:
«I think I am misinterpreting the tone of these emails and I think a phone conversation would be better (as Rose suggested initially). I tried calling yesterday but I missed you by 15 minutes and this morning, I have meetings until 11a. I will try to call you then.

What does that even mean?
I ended up calling her and she did apologize for the miscommunication. We came up with a plan that was workable for both of us. Throughout the conversation-​she kept assuming I knew things that I didn’t (such as the lucite covers were NOT included in the cost of renting the cubes). Then when I was trying to get the answer to the question she ignored twice via email, she told me I had the name of the item wrong (even though I had the Tablescapes website open to item).
When she sent the proposal to me, I was shocked at the price and decided I was done with Suzanne. I called the main office and talked to the person who answered the phone. She was very nice and passed my message about how irritated I was to the manager. She also amended the proposal to omit the extra items so that I could live with the price point.
The next day, I couldn’t deal with this issue because I don’t do event planning full-​time. I have a regular job. I had to change my order and called the Betty, the Customer Service Rep whose name was on the most recent proposal at 4:40.
Yes. 20 minutes before quitting time on a Friday. Crazy. I know.
Betty was mostly polite in amending my order but then when it was 4:55, she started to rush me off the phone! I couldn’t believe it. When I asked if anyone could help me in the office on Saturday, she said yes but that I should «make sure I call more than 30 minutes before we close.»
Say WHAT? Did you just tell me that you don’t want to talk to a customer just because it’s time to close? Nope. Uh-​uh. We are done.
Classic Party Rentals followed up on a call I had put in to them on Thursday. They matched Tablescapes prices (which Suzanne was unwilling to do) and now I will be moving on to go write them a GLOWING Unilocal review.

Tablescapes was one of our easiest companies to work with throughout the wedding process. Whenever we changed an order (which happened a number of times) they worked with us patiently– giving us specifics about everything we asked about.
Once we called spur of the moment asking if we could come in within maybe an hour notice, and they allowed us to come in, look at everything we were ordering– and again change our order.
Then, not long before the wedding, we asked to rent an extra 20 chairs. As it worked out, another couple ordered the same chairs and they didn’t have an extra 20. Instead of simply telling us no, they upgraded our chairs to much nicer ones, as we had the reservation first. It was such an amazing thing for them to do for no reason!
We can’t recommend Tablescapes enough. Reasonable cost, beyond friendly, great quality!

Tablescapes did a fantastic job making sure we had everything we needed for a 2^nd annual fundraiser at the Merchandise Mart. Helped to take away any undue stress having an drop off and pick up from them. Betty & Rose especially were on top of the order and my many changes… a pleasure to work with!

The only event rental company I use in chicago. The staff there make you feel like your family and they are always willing to help out whenever they can. Well worth the $

Tablescapes is great because they don’t require a HUGE order to work with you. Or at least they did not for our chair rental for our wedding ceremony in River North this past May.
Over the months leading up to the event, I changed the order options several times and the reps were very accommodating, responsive and helpful. They explained their rental fees included set-​up and break-​down if we needed it, or if we wanted to save money we could do it all on our own. Super helpful!
The time frame for their delivery and pick up window for the chairs were flexible and easy to work within as well.
Affordable and helpful, we wholeheartedly recommend!

I had a million changes/​requests and their answer was always «yes». Even when I had a same day change that required them to run around in a tight time crunch not only did they say yes– they made sure to go over all my options of designs with me! Everything has been so easy, which is such a breath of fresh air when you are stressed with party planning.
The people that work here are knowledgable, intelligent, and so easy to work with. Its not the cheapest, but you pay for what you get!

I chose this place based on the Unilocal reviews and the beautiful and unique rental options avaliable. I rented a farm house table and 15 wooden folding chairs, a coffee server and lots of linens for an anniversary party. I loved the product and felt it was extra pop that really made my event look extra nice. The booking staff was very thorough and courteous. The delivery service men were great too. The only problem I had that was pretty annoying was that when I called to schedule the delivery the person in charge of that part via phone wanted me to stay our my house from 9am-​5pm and at some point the delivery would happen. I found this to be very annoying and worse than a cable guy. Also the delivery person via phone I guess didn’t look closely at my contract and called me a day before scheduled pickup to let me know he was ‘there’ ready to pick up my items. When I told him I wasn’t there and the pickup was scheduled for the following day he was very agitated. I would say to Tablescapes they need to hire a nicer associate in this department and then they would get my flying color review and recommendation to all my friends.

You need rentals?
There are only a few companies in Chicago that do them on smaller scale. Tablescapes being one of them. You have to hit a minimum of $ 150 to qualify for delivery (which you pay for, of course)…but if you just need some tables/​chairs/​linens for a dinner party or roofdeck or smaller event, this is your place. You’ll need a truck/​SUV to pick stuff up, you’ve been warned!
I’ve used them twice over the years:
Once we hosted a Thanksgiving dinner and did a small order of two 10 person rounds and 20 chairs plus linens. All went smoothly.
More recently I placed an order for an event at Loft on Lake. 125 chairs (about $ 2/​each), two 8-​foot tables and some garbage cans. $ 90 labor/​delivery. All in all, not too bad at all… and frankly, you can’t do the event without chairs or garbage cans, not an option!
*note, you’ll need to restack and package everything after your event in just the way it arrived. Otherwise, you’ll be charged.
The gals that assisted me were very helpful but I get the idea that things are run a little old school. Totally fine to do everything over the phone (as opposed to online or email) but more time consuming. It was all handled effectively, but I would’ve loved to have placed and confirmed my order online as opposed to going back and forth via email, credit card authorization form scanning and sending, etc. Also, initially I had to email for a price list to be sent to me. I assume that’s to stave off the competition undercutting or something? To me it added an additional step that I then had to take to figure out my budgeting and order.
All in all a great experience, and if you are doing a small event and just need a couple things… definitely check this place out. They had the cheapest chairs by far!

We rented tall boy tables here for a party… we wanted that bar feel but didn’t want people sitting around. No stools means more mingling. We also got black linens to cover the tables. The tables needed to be covered because they have seen some parties in there lifetime. I will never be able to look at a skirted table in the same way. The table cloth sure hides the war wounds from parties past.
The only thing I was not happy with is that we had an appointment and our consultant was late… in fact, we never met her in person. We were told to walk around and take a look. We did that for about 15 minutes and finally told the lady that we knew what we wanted and she wrote up our order. I was not happy with the waiting because when I am late for an appointment I feel like a jerk. No one seemed to apologize or even make an excuse about why our consultant was not there.
We decided to pick up everything. The loading dock is not near the entrance of the showroom. You also have to call for someone to open the gate. Once you jump through those hoops you are in. Load up your vehicle and you are on your way to party. Well you have to first set up the tables and then it is time to party. Parties need tables. Tables are like a giant coaster for drinks.
I would highly recommend this place because it was affordable. I was also able to get them to match another companies quote, so that made my decision easy.

So a family friend of mine referred me to table scapes after i complained to him about a rental company i spoke with. My caterer referred me to a generic rental place that rents tables, chairs, tools, ect. You would call them if you needed a snow blower or something! Not rentals for a beautiful event like a wedding!
A wonderful women named Sheree Figler helped me. Let me start by saying there show room is amazing and your options are endless! I myslef am a small business owner, a hair salon, in the loop and really appreciate warmth and hospitality when entering a business. I also am a creative but Sheree is a master in her craft. She is the creative director and she is amazing! She loved all of my wedding ideas and was sooooo helpful with pulling my look together. It was fresh, innovated, and up to date. I feel like i am a young fun bride wanting to have the party of our lives! I dont think that is alot to ask but most vendors i have dealt with so far are dated and stale!
I chose beautiful barn wood tables that do not need linens and a mixture of chairs, benches, lounge furniture, and accents. Sheree suggested that My Husband and I sit at a bar height table for two while our guests sit at regular table height tables. I loved this idea. Also i want all of my bridal parties dates to be able to sit with them. I have been that girl in the corner as my fiancé stood up in many of his friends weddings. This will not be the case at my wedding because Table Scapes is making it all flow!!! My cermony space will be breathtaking with benches and chairs and couches. We havent even got into the details yet and I cant wait to go back and see Sheree! She also spent so much time with me and with her experience in the field of events gave me some great ideas that had nothing to do with the sale of rental items!!!
I really feel like the people in this company care about making your special event everything you dreamed it would be! I will be updating my review with pictures after my wedding! But without a doubt Table Scapes is your company for event rental needs no matter what they are!!! Thank you so much Sheree!

One good thing about having a wedding at a place where you can bring in your own vendors is you save loads of money. The bad thing? You have to find and coordinate all these vendors.
Lucky for me, a little well-​informed birdie informed me that Tablescapes would be my place for all things rental. And we did need ALL THINGS RENTED. Tables, chairs, linens, plates, glasses, flatware. If you need it for dinner service, we needed to rent it.
Thanks to Tablescapes, it was fairly uncomplicated. They send you a booklet of all the options and you make your decisions. (My one gripe is that this booklet was rather challenging to navigate. So many choices made it difficult for me to find the items I wanted: as white and plain as possible. But we eventually found exactly what we wanted.)
Make your deposit, place your order (which you can update until a few days before your event) and voila! Your guests have chairs on which to sit and champagne flutes from which to drink. They are flexible on the drop off, pick up times too, which was helpful in our situation (when our venue was closed on the original day they wanted to retrieve their items).
I would definitely call on Tablescapes again in the event i needed to fit an event with rentals.

I needed to rent a couple of tables and linens for my husband’s 40^th birthday party. We worked with Betty and found her to be informative and seamless in the transaction. They have there own loading dock and the boys are very helpful even in the cold and rainy weather. No surprise fees in the end just good old fashioned customer service!

I ordered some highboys and linens for my 30^th bday bash this past weekend from tablescapes. I researched a few other places in Chicagoland and this one was by far the winner. for price & location! For only 6 highboys and 6 linens the total came to around $ 160, which didn’t seem worth paying the $ 40 drop off and pickup fee ($ 40 each time). Afterall, I have a new SUV for these type of situations!
The guy at the warehouse was very helpful when it came to loading my car, but it was a bit more work to lug them around than I expected (especially at 30 weeks pregnant) so I decided to have them picked up after the party. They gave me a 4 hr pickup window and showed up an hr early.
The highboys were in decent location and easy to put up/​tear down. And the lime green linens were perfect for a summer party on the rooftop.
Overall, easy peasy! i’d definitely order from here for another bash (perhaps thanksgiving dinner later this year) and will probably just pay the extra drop off and pickup fee from the start next time.

I used Tablescapes to set up for my first time hosting Thanksgiving Dinner. I didn’t need much, just 2 tables and 10 chairs, but I wanted to use Tablescapes (as opposed to other «party» stores) because they had nice stuff. T he chairs were not cheap plastic or metal, but hardwood chairs with padded seats.
The only problem with Tablescapes Rentals is that they are not used to servicing my small party needs — they have a minimum order price of $ 150 (For delivery) or $ 75 (for pick up and drop off yourself). So my measly order only came out to $ 45 dollars and I had to literally make up $ 30 worth of additional rentals. This turned out nicely though because the additional things I rented (risers for the food) added a sophisticated touch to the festivities.
In the end I got everything I needed, but I also got a bit of an attitude from the person answering the phones. I had called previously to discuss the availability of the products. It wasn’t until I called back that I learned about the «minimum» purchase price, and the person I spoke to the second time — had a bit of an attitude about it. Maybe its because I called 10 minutes before closing, who knows! Nevertheless, I got my stuff, my party was great, the prices were good, and even with the attitude — I’ll use them again in the future.
PS — I would have given them 3-​stars (because of the attitude), but the guys working in the warehouse (who brought my stuff to my truck) were super nice and fast. Plus, they refused to accept a tip from me. For that — you get an extra star!

I placed an order at Tablescapes for a party I hosted in my home and couldn’t be happier with the customer service and competitive prices.
It was always very easy to reach the sales people on the phone and the pick-​up /​drop-​off went smoothly.
The items were exactly as I expected and I have no complaints whatsoever.
