So, they’ve actually known me by name since the first time I called about a storage space… even after a change in the manager. (I’ve been renting various-​sized spaces from Strongbox for over a year now). Being known by name is small potatoes if other value-​added services aren’t in place. But they are. Pricing is fair. A variety of size and amenity options are available. I almost went with 4 stars because their hours aren’t as flexible as some other options. But the quality of the space, service and options are so strong, they override the small number of hours where access isn’t available. There have been very few times when I’ve been constrained by the open hours.
One of the better offerings of Strongbox is the climate-​controlled space they offer. Non-​climate control is available at lower prices, which is similar to all the other storage spaces out there. But for a reasonable premium, you can get a space that protects wine, art, and other temperature-​sensitive items. I’m an artist, so this was important to me to protect paintings, canvasses, frames, etc. I understand it’s also a favorite storage area for wine connoisseurs.
In summary… this is a winner of a partner when you need some extra space and/​or help with sensitive or standard items. The contracts are flexible, additional fees minimal or non-​existent. And it’s in a great location. Don’t make the mistake of a national chain option. I made that mistake and can testify to the quality compromise it cost.

I normally don’t give 5-​star reviews, but this facility has earned it in my opinion. The people who work here are so nice and easy going. As first time tenants, we were treated very well. I have never had a moving process go so well! I would recommend this facility to anyone who was interested in storage space. They let us borrow a moving truck, gave us a new key lock, and even assisted in some of them moving process. I love this place!

I didn’t think it was possible to love a storage facility! I cannot recommend this place enough! I have had a unit here for over a year and the staff, especially Megan, is always super friendly and helpful. They even remember my name when I come in and I have only been in a couple times! Bonus, the coffee in the office is pretty tasty too!

We use Strongbox for its wine storage facility and couldn’t be happier. The staff were so hopeful and accommodating from the day we moved in and have been as great ever since. Megan is awesome and always so smily and friendly (she even remembered our names from day one… I swear she has a photographic memory!).
Since you have to cannot enter the wine cellar area without a stairway key from the front desk or a staff member running you down in the freight elevator (which I swear, you never have to wait for — they are pretty much available to you on demand!) there are no security concerns. I guess this might be annoying if you want to grab some obscure bottle out of storage in the middle of the night when they’re closed, but for the security, I’d say it’s worth it!
To sum up — I love this place! Great pricing, people, accommodations and ease of use!

Easiest experience for what is usually an incredibly stressful situation. Strong box has the friendliest staff both in person and online. I highly recommend them for short or long term storage situations.

These people are literally amazing. Not only can you use all of their dollys, carts, etc to take things to/​from your unit, but they also have a loading dock so that your Uhaul, movers, etc can easily access the building. New customers get a free truck rental AND their truck is GREAT. Everyone who works here is top notch. Always extremely helpful and friendly. They even gave me a recommendation on moving companies for when I needed to move out of my unit. Would hands down use these people again whenever I need storage space in Chicago.

Nice staff and facility!

This place is so great! Their employees are fantastic. My boyfriend got off work late and so we barely got my stuff there in time. Even though it was 6:00 they kept the place open so that I was able to get into my unit. They had no idea how much this saved my life. Audrey is such a nice person and is incredibly helpful! If you need a storage unit, you can’t find a better place!

I needed a storage unit to hold most of my belongings for a few months between moving to a new state. The staff was extremely helpful in deciding exactly what size storage unit I would need to fit all my stuff without destroying anything and without overspending on getting too big of a unit. They were super friendly during both the move-​in and the move-​out. I even used their truck for free for the move-​in, which was one less thing to worry about on that day. I had to be out of town on the move-​in day for personal reasons, and the staff worked with my friends to make sure everything went smoothly for me.
The unit was well-​maintained and clean. The staff requires guests to sign in so there are never strange people wandering through the facility. Even though it is not air-​conditioned, it was ventilated enough that the heat in the summer did not affect my belongings at all. The location is great– easy to get to and plenty of parking. With 4 docks, it’s also easy to get a truck in and out even if another truck or two is already there. Moving in and out is also easy with so many large carts available for your use. The prices were pretty reasonable, even less than other places of lower quality. When I moved out with 10 days left in the month, I received my refund at my new address within 2 weeks. If I were in Chicago again and needed a place to store anything, I would definitely rent another unit here!

This storage facility is great. The place is easy to get to and has parking. It’s a clean place with tons of size options on the units with good prices. You can use their moving truck which is almost unheard of… The staff is friendly & there’s no contract. I’d strongly suggest renting from them!

very nice in the ways of:
1. friendly and helpful people (both on phone and in person);
2. great service (free truck rented for pick up, we couldn’t get the truck when check in storage because all booked but the manager promise us we can get one when check out);
3. great deal (buy one get one month free).
the down sides are:
1. there are storage hours even its self storage. so we always have problems when trying to pick up something. couldnt get it over weekends or evenings
2. the storage is in very high temperature in summer. its higher than the outdoor temperature. a lot of my candles melted. not a big deal. just a little annoyed.
anyway, all in all. good place.

Don’t look anywhere else if you need storage space, prices are great and you won’t find better service anywhere! We all have our horror stories of terrible moving experiences, the industry typically has the worst customer service paired with policies that protect everyone but the consumer.
Discovering Strongbox and the AMAZING STAFF there was a huge relief. They consistently provide the best customer service I have ever experienced, and I have worked and managed customer service for 8 years so I am a tough critic! On my second visit to move stuff into my storage space they all KNEW ME BY NAME. I was so impressed, now that I have been several times I realize that the team knows almost everyone there by name and works hard to develop meaningful relationships with everyone that they take care of!

Strongbox is the best storage facility I’ve ever used for two main reasons.
1. I was unfourtanate and booked LAKEVIEW MOVERS who decided on my moving day that they were not only going to not call to cancel but they just weren’t going to show up at all or answer the phone. The staff at strongbox immediately suggested a moving company that had helped out patrons in the past to me. They also called the company and scheduled them to come out within the hour. The moving company did an outstanding job with my move and I owe it all to the Strongbox staff for helping me out.
2. The facility itself is super clean, always tidy, and full of items (dolleys, ladders, vaccums, etc.) to help you move in and out of their facility. There are 4 loading docks that you can pull your car or truck up to and load/​unload items. The service that you receive, as well as the reasonable price, is what makes them the best storage facility in Chicago.

We’ve moved a lot in the past and the last was 5 years ago from a large home in St. Louis to much smaller Old Town condo. We have soooo much stuff and no time to go through it. We have rented a small, medium, large and a wine storage space from Strongbox over those 5 years. This place is reasonable. The staff is understanding, helpful and always pleasant. They get to know you and your needs. I actually like the personality and feel of this old building and the our stuff doesn’t care that it isn’t new and corporate feeling. Try them out… you won’t be disappointed.

I’m a new customer and was impressed by the facility, the professional and friendly staff, and the reasonable prices.
The staff went out of their way to help me find the right space and to assist with my move. The storage space itself is well-​maintained, secure, and clean — they even offer wine storage in the basement.
I looked at a number of other facilities — some were less expensive, but the extra attention and professional staff made StrongBox an easy pick.

The people there are very friendly and helpful. Excellent rental prices. I don’t think that you will find better rates anywhere near downtown. The building is not air conditioned but they have giant window fans so there is some air circulation. They have a really cool elevator.
