This place is so wonderful that it motivated me to join Unilocal :) Moving is stressful, storing things is stressful, and Strongbox makes everything better. Joanne, Humberto and the whole team are extremely patient, helpful and reassuring. The facility is sturdy, safe and extremely tidy. When anything minor went wrong (for example, the credit card we used for automatic billing expired), they contacted us in a friendly and laid-​back way to sort it out. We left our things here for several years while we were overseas and never had to worry about anything. Thanks, Strongbox!

Joanne and Humberto are rockstars. I’m sure I called Joanne on one of the, if not the most, busiest days of the year. She was patient and friendly and helped me identify my needs and reserved a unit for me.
Joanne went out of her way to accommodate me and was friendly throughout the whole process. She was extremely accommodating. They even have a free truck for rental for move-​ins (reserve in advance during the busy season).
This company is no joke– no hidden fees, no administrative non-​sense. I highly recommend storing your belongings– files, furniture, wine, etc– at Strongbox!

Oh Joanne… without Joanne we’d be lost. Very smart, moves quickly, understands that our time is valuable and beyond efficient and sweet. The place is very clean. The space is uniform and ample and actually a super awesome price for the 8×6×5 unit. Very happy to have found this. Way better size, pricing and level of customer service than any of the national brands in the area. Thanks to Unilocal for helping me find a truly good thing. (So sorry that I originally forgot to mention Zach too. He was extremely helpful showing us the place and providing assistance with carts when the elevator was busy. Just another example of the exemplary customer service.)

I’ve been a customer here for about 2 years now. It fits my needs perfectly, but the main reason that I stayed with Strongbox is because all the folks there are awesome! I have the most experience with — and the utmost praise — for Joanne and Umberto. Love them! They are all about customer service and have time and again really shown me that I — as a customer, an individual — really matter to the company. Their help with finding the perfect storage spaces for me was impressive and invaluable. Joanne and Umberto — thank you so very much for your help and for making me feel so valued. I called the other day and they actually remembered who I was — by phone??? It’s like a super power. lol! … Way to make a girl feel special! :-)

If I could give this place more stars I would. Joanne and Umberto were tremendously helpful. My movers were running late and were not the most organized and efficient. Joanne and Umberto both stayed late and also helped my movers organize my belongings so they fit in my unit. I have nothing but GREAT things to say about this place and would definitely reccommend them to anyone looking!!! So friendly and easy to work with as well! Thank you so much!

I recommend this place without reservations. It’s super clean and well maintained. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Very reasonable rates, and fees are prorated, so you pay only for the days you use. A pleasure to do business with! I would definitely return if I need storage space again.

I rented a box at Strongbox based on the reviews and the location which was very convenient. I quickly learned that Strongbox lives up to all the great reviews. Joanne and all the other employees have always been extremely friendly and helpful.
I started in a smaller box and then they helped coordinate a smooth move to a larger box as my storage needs expanded. Often when I stop by to move stuff in our out I bring my kids and the staff has always been super friendly to them as well.
If you are looking for storage you owe it to yourself to give them a call!

Before arriving at Strongbox, I had a preconceived notion of how my moving experience would be. I was excited I stumbled upon this place as it was very professional, clean, and ridiculously easy! There are no hidden fees — this place defies the stereotypes of the typical storage companies. Its worth the money!

After death and divorce, moving comes next on the anxiety list, and Joanne and Humberto take some of the angst out of the ordeal. I have had various sizes and numbers of storage units in the almost seven years I have dealt with Strongbox as I use it for my «attic». Strongbox is immaculately kept and managed. Joanne and Humberto should give seminars on how to deliver outstanding customer service. The manager, Joanne, is like your favorite aunt — always listens, truly cares, and is a world class problem solver. She is an angel. She is a saint. She is divine. Over the years I have had an emergency when I needed a small unit for less than a week and she delivered. There was once a mix up with paid movers and Stongbox’s own truck and she worked it out.
Humberto always greets customers with good humor and a «watch your heels» so the customer does not hurt himself or herself with the dolleys. Humberto never seems to have a «down» day and has helped me load larger things into my car more than once. I probably go into my unit about once a month and after almost seven years I count Joanne and Humberto as very good friends that can be counted on. They are righteous people. God Bless them. My dad never told me that he wanted us to move so when I found out that he had rented a smaller apartment I was very worried that I would have to throw away part of my stuff and furniture. Fortunately, one of my friends recommended Strongbox and my father was willing to do whatever just to see me happy, so he called Joanne and explained our situation. The next day we were stunned to see that Joanna had even sent a truck to help us carry our stuff to their storing unit. Honestly, I don’t know what we would have done without her help; she made things a lot easier. Once we arrived with our things, they told us what the options were and which storage unit would be better for our furniture. Surprisingly, the prices were lower than we’ve expected, while the conditions were better. Every storage unit is provided with cameras so you don’t have to worry about the safety of your stuff. Besides, you can even receive deliveries at Strongbox. The staff is so nice that they call you whenever you receive something.
These features can’t be found at other storage units. That’s why I feel that I’ve made one of the best choices of my life by choosing Strongbox. I can take back my furniture whenever I want, or I can store even more things without worrying for their safety. Hands down for Strongbox and its staff!

Could these people be any nicer or more helpful? Joanne, Mark and Umberto have gone out of their way to make my move in, my possible move to another unit in the building, and my move out, smooth and incredibly pleasant. Anytime I have had questions or concerns, they were right there, even going so far as helping me to move a very heavy item. These people really love their jobs and it shows.
I’m actually sad to be moving my stuff out, as they have always brightened up my day whenever I work with them. Moving is stressful, and they really took the edge off.
The facility is beautiful– clean, well-​maintained, easily accessible. The use of the truck is also incredibly helpful. Other companies should study their service as a model of excellence.

Joanne and the entire staff at Strongbox are saints. A no nonsense storage company who would not sell you any BS. You pay monthly to monthly, no hidden fees and they are fully transparent with what you are getting.
The only problem is that because they are so popular and well regarded, they are always full. Call or go to them in person to get a space. Joanne (the manager) is very friendly and would try her best to please you.
Contacting them via email or online is not recommended since they are always swamped with emails.

Needed to declutter to get my place ready for staging and Strongbox ended up being the perfect place to store my extra items and remain in denial about being a possible hoarder. The facility is affordable, super clean and safe. Joanne and her crew were so friendly and helpful every time I made a visit. Even though there are other storage options in the South Loop, it was absolutely worth going back and forth to Lakeview. Highly recommend!

I’m planing on moving into a storage locker asap solely based on all of the reviews. I’ve never encountered a company on Unilocal that every review has so many stars… consistently 5 start reviews. consistently awesome management reviews. I have a friend with a unit there who loves it. So I’m sold.

This is easily the best experience I’ve had with a storage unit after moving and storing numerous times in the past several years. Joanne is so friendly, I feel like she’s personally watching over my stuff when I’m not there! Getting in and out is a breeze too thanks to the helpful and professional crew over there. If you’re looking for a safe, clean and friendly place at a good price, this is it.

I began using Strongbox to store my fancy Chateauneuf du Papes in the summer of 2013 when I sold my vintage condo and lost my cave du vin. It was, as always, a wise decision on my part.
They provide an excellent service and a very reasonable price, and exhibit none of the snootiness you might suspect of a storer of fermented grapes. Whether your wines are delivered to you in extravagant wooden crates from Bordeaux or discreet paper bags from Charles Shaw, the fine folks at Strongbox will not judge, but will happily store your treasures.
Indeed, I have often stopped by Strongbox sans monocle or tophat and still received the high level of service to which I am accustomed throughout my fiefdom, er, Chicago.
