Stevenson Transfer

Stevenson was great for my move from Chicago to Philadelphia. They came to do an in-​home assessment and gave me a ceiling quote that ended up being $ 350 too high so I got a refund. On the morning of my move they arrived right on time and were very polite and professional. One piece of furniture did get broken, but it was still useable (a desk top that had been connected to its drawers got separated, but they put it back together on my delivery day and it works fine). The driver who picked up my stuff was the same driver who delivered it which was very nice continuity. There was an 8 day period between the pick up and the drop off and they dropped off on my preferred delivery date. Nothing got lost and with the exception of the desk, which still works, and nothing was damaged. This was as little hassle as I could hope for in a cross country move.

I was pretty nervous about choosing a mover for our move from Chicago to Dallas after hearing horror stories from other people. Rest assured if you go with Stevenson Transfer you have nothing to worry about.
I found them on Unilocal after relying on my trusted Unilocalers. They scheduled a survey of my home and gave me an estimate. Shortly after I confirmed dates and times. Communication is so important in a move and I never felt like I was out of the loop. There were no surprise charges after the move and we actually got a refund because we were under on the estimate.
The time and care that went into the move amazed me. When we got to Dallas they were there right on time and had contracted with local movers in the area. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. With so many things to worry about, it was a relief to know I didn’t have to worry about movers.
Book them, you really won’t regret it!

We are moving again and this time back to the south from the Chicago area. I have hired Stevenson Transfer Mayflower since they have good Unilocal reviews. I am very pleased how things are moving along, so I’m giving the Stevenson Transfer five stars. We have moved ourselves with U-​Haul in the past, but the company is graciously paying our transfer to our next home. Billy Stevenson came to our apartment to meet me and evaluate what truck size would be needed to move our furniture and clothing. He was very professional and polite. I spoke with Angie in his office to confirm the dates to pack-​load, transfer and unload our things in the time frame we requested. This is our 12^th move! So far, so good.

Stevenson handled my move from Illinois to Pennsylvania with professionalism, courtesy, kindness and dependability from start to finish. All of my things were perfectly packed/​crated/​wrapped, arrived in the same condition as they left, and were obviously treated with respect. In every aspect of the move — estimating, notifying, packing, transporting, delivering — Stevenson went well above and beyond my expectations. I would recommend them to anyone and can’t imagine a better experience. Bill Sr., the owner who did the initial estimate, was so nice and did so much to put my anxieties to rest. Lorna in the office was always available, and no matter how dumb my questions might seem always gave me the answers I needed. And Dave S., the crew chief/​driver, has to be the best of the best! Moving is never fun, but these people are extraordinary and turned what could be an awful experience into a flawless one. If you are planning a move and are lucky enough to live in their service area, use Stevenson!

Stevenson moved us from Chicago to Bonita Springs, FL December 2015. I packed, they moved. We couldn’t be happier. Bill Stevenson estimated our load at approx 8800 lbs and when it came in less, we received a refund for the difference. They are associated with Mayflower; however, it was a Stevenson truck, Stevenson movers, a Stevenson driver, and then Stevenson unloaders for our move. The personalized service was great and Kevin, our driver was a great «go to» guy for everything during the move. If you are moving and want your belongings treated with care, this has to be your top choice. Recently moved cross country and Stevenson handled everything as promised. Packed us, moved and arrived with a minimum of hassles. Highly recommended.

Any out of state move is stressful but ours was especially so since the planned date moved up 3 weeks without much notice, due to circumstances beyond our control. We also had to clean our house the same day we moved, so that our tenants could move in the next day. Very exhausting and stressful.
Our crew was outstanding in terms of both customer service and the physical logistics and the care of our belongings and pets. Our crew included Joe (driver and crew chief), Louis, Pete and Paulie. Our overly protective German Shepherd escaped confinement three times, my fault. I was so embarrassed but they took it all in stride with great sense of humor. They were flexible in order to help us with getting to the cleaning, and in clearing an area where our dogs could have more room. Could not have asked for more considerate and efficient people. I was initially very tired and apprehensive, but after these guys were there for only an hour I knew everything would be OK. Also initial paperwork, communication and organizational tips from Stevenson in general was very helpful. The last half of the move went well also. It’s rare that I can’t think of some improvement to suggest but this is one of those times. Their estimate was accurate and the overall cost was right in line with what we expected to pay, after doing a lot of research.

After receiving a quote from Stevenson for a move out of Chicago and not selecting them a week later I knew I had made a mistake. So when it was time to escape from NYC I called Stevenson immediately and didn’t bother with anyone else!
Everyone at this company is dedicated and professional plus it is always nice dealing with Midwestern people no matter where you are located. Amazingly Stephenson was able to work with my schedule, navigate the streets/​traffic of Midtown Manhttn, find parking, and pack/​load us all within schedule. I also took advantage of their crating service which I found to be very well done and reasonably priced. As well, IMO their storage rates are good and you know your stuff will be safe in their privately owned Ottawa, IL warehouse.
There is no doubt I will use Stephenson again and if they only did local moves as well the world would be a better place!

First class outfit. My brother, sister and I coordinated a move for our parents from Chicago to Naples, and the whole process was professional, friendly, and absolutely dependable. Typically, having several point people (my siblings and I) to deal with is a bit much for most companies, but it never became an issue with Stevenson. Their coordinators (usually Lorna) took it all in stride and kept us all in the loop as needed.
High points:
o The crew chief — Joe Rychtarik was the driver and in charge of the move. He was excellent — very clear communication, attention to detail, and went with the shipment to supervise the move-​in.
o The owner — Bill Stevenson Jr. — did the estimate and was also very professional.
o The crew — Justin, Louie, Kevin, and others — were neat, clean, hardworking, friendly, etc. One of them (to remain unnamed!) has been with Stevenson Transfer for 50 years, believe it or not.
o Reliability — They showed up when promised 100% of the time, whether it was for the estimate, the packing, the move-​out, or even the move in.
o Flexibility — They let us pick the move-​in dates, while other companies would not (it gets moved in when it arrives). Stevenson simply parked the truck for a week, then headed for Florida 2 or 3 days in advance to make sure they started the move-​in on the date we requested (which was critical since my brother flew in to supervise the move). They also dropped part of the shipment off in a storage facility nearby as we requested.
o No handoffs to other companies — although another Mayflower crew did the unloading in Florida, Joe (the driver) was there for the entire move and we had no damage (except one vase), despite numerous delicate antiques.
Pricing was virtually spot-​on with a United Van Lines quote, and we are very happy we chose Stevenson. In fact, my brother plans to use them when he moves out of state next year.
Highly recommended. Ask for Joe!

Thank you Stevenson Transfer!!! Our move from Chicago to Park City was flawless. Every part of the move was a great experience. From Bill Jr. who came over and did a wonderful estimate, to Angie and Lorna in the office who were able to schedule the pick up and delivery on the EXACT days that worked for us, to the guys who did the packing, to Joe and his team who packed the truck then unpacked it… everything was just great. Everyone was professional, nice, experienced, honest. I just can’t say enough good things about this company. Not one thing was broken or damaged! After all that we loaded onto the truck — it was jam packed — i got a call from the office saying they owed me $ 6.76. that’s how honest they are. If i could give 12 stars i would!

We picked Stevenson for our move to Boston after doing thorough research. They also had the best reviews on Unilocal.They came right away and gave us an accurate estimate the same day in person. The admins always returned our calls and communicated with us consistently. Alex the lead mover was very courteous and experienced. He knew what needed to be done and did it right. The rest of the crew was very helpful and careful with our belongings. The final price was within $ 6 dollars of the actual estimate. All our stuff arrived in the sme condition it left in. They reassambled everything and were very accomodating to any special requests. They are a top notch family owned company for many years for a reason. Pick them.

Stevenson Transfer did a great job taking care of us from start to finish. A couple of our items broke during our move from Chicago to San Francisco. I get it, it happens. Stevenson took care of us though, and reimbursed us for the cost to replace/​repair them. I know with a lot of moving companies this can be a nightmare, so this was a tremendous relief.
The crew in Chicago was great and finished ahead of schedule. I believe it was a different company at our destination (they outsource long distance moves to Mayflower) but they were also very professional and did a stellar job.

We recently moved from Chicago to Denver and I can’t begin to say enough great things about Stevenson Transfer. From the minute I called through actual move in, this was the least stressful part of our cross-​country move. Bill, Angie, Dave, et. al, were phenomenal. They kept every promise and went out of their way to accommodate us on every request. They were always on time, extremely professional, and treated us like family. They claim to focus on customer service and they certainly delivered!

Epic experience! From beginning to end every single touch point was a pure delight. Bill Jr set the stage for a great move as I was relocating across country. He provided the framework of the service and conducted the estimate. Angie provided stellar service with key coordination, follow up and follow through! The move day was flawless with friendly, professional folks. I had personally boxed everything and it ran smoothly.
My belongings arrived at the same exact time I did so there was no gap in time or long wait for my stuff. Chris managed that portion and he was extremely courteous and professional.

After calling around to find a moving company my family settled on Stevenson for our move from Chicago to Cincinnati. We based this decision on the strong presentation of professionalism & friendliness of Angie, the customer service rep. We are so glad we did, especially with some shady conversations I had with other companies.

Moving to a new city is generally thrilling… save for the ‘ing’ part of the move, of course. Unless you’re one of those misunderstood souls who actually enjoy packing boxes and transferring them to their new home. Me, not so much — so I called the professionals at Stevenson Transfer after a little birdie (Miss Colleen C!) tipped me off on their awesomeness.
After a brief email exchange, Bill Jr set up an appointment for an in-​person estimate. He arrived at my condo on time and quickly but thoroughly assessed my accrued lot of belongings… though it seems that I own a ton of stuff, he asserted that I barely met the minimum for such a big move (from Chicago to Austin) so it turns out I’m not really a pack rat after all.
I received my estimate the next day and did my homework just to make sure I was getting the best deal possible. Though some of the other movers came in cheaper, they were pretty unresponsive and getting the quotes could be likened to pulling impacted molars. Not people I wanted to entrust with my most valuable belongings! So I committed to Stevenson, we set a date and got married… well, not the last part but approximately $ 3k to move sure felt like a huge step!
Moving day: Two strapping, professional lads showed up on time (they’ve got a knack for punctuality) and marked and loaded all my belongings in about 1.5 hours. Impressive! A few days later, i drove to Austin and patiently waited for the call on their anticipated arrival time. They called 3 days after moving into an empty apartment to let me know that everything was going as planned and they expected to arrive on Saturday morning (another 3 days later) between 8 and 8:30am. Guess what? Yep, once again, they arrived on time. Within only one hour this time around, I was reacquainted with all of my stuff (and they even assembled my bed — no extra charge!).
Everything went so smoothly, and all of my belonging were delivered to me in their original state. Not a scratch, chip or bump to be found… truly amazing. Don’t forget to tip these hardworking moving perfectionists — the moving industry’s MVPs certainly deserve it!

I needed to move again… guess who I emailed first?
You guessed it, Stevenson Transfer.
Even easier than my initial move in February 2011, as it was the same amount of stuff back tracking to Chicago from NYC. Literally stress-​free!!! Is that even possible with a cross-​state move? It is! Bill Jr and Co. handled everything seamlessly and the movers showed up on time or early on both ends, loaded/​unloaded, nothing damaged, all accounted for.
And said movers were excellent just as before. Friendly, professional, easygoing and accommodating.
*remember to tip movers in cash, they’ll really appreciate it!
*can pay via credit card, they’ll mail/​email you a receipt.
Now, if they could send a few people over to unpack all these boxes that have been sitting here since they dropped them off, I’d be really thrilled. Ha, kidding. Not really, they are really all still sitting here.

Stevenson moved me from Chicago to Tennessee. I was impressed by the way they explained pricing and the transparency. The 2 guys moving my furniture were efficient and friendly. The supervisor was efficient and knowledgeable and eventually warmed up. They were on time at both ends, came by to put up signs to keep cars from parking where the truck would be, and kept in touch with me along the way.
I felt they were more honest and helpful than the other companies I contacted, and I didn’t like the companies that asked me to do an estimate and gave me quotes online. Stevenson sent a family rep and the same staff were with my belongings from one state to the other. I also didn’t have to pay for a shuttle.
My tiny complaints were that a few items were damaged, but they were minor in the grand scheme, though I wish I’d taken the no-​deductible full replacement insurance. The one item damaged will probably cost about the amount of the deductible to fix, a broken wooden drawer. There are a few scratches on my wood and leather furniture, though they wrapped them well.
My other wish is that the guys hadn’t put my grill on the patio because I wasn’t there and the apartment staff threw it away, since it was violating code. Since I wasn’t there for the move, I didn’t expect them to put anything outside, though I admit that seems like a reasonable thing to do.
