We found our apartment through Ray at Spaces and it was a very easy and enjoyable process. Ray was very knowledgeable and trustworthy about the different areas and apartments we looked at. He was also a lot of fun to be around made us laugh the entire time. We’re very excited to move into our new spot in a couple weeks and be able to call it home. Thanks to Ray for helping us stay positive through this journey!

Trying to find an apartment in Chicago has changed a lot since I last lived here. Where’s you used to call the place directly, you now need to work through an agent.
I called spaces several times regarding different apartments and spoke to several different people. Each and every time I was treated well until I told the representative that I am working to improve my poor credit. At that point I was systematically ignored. At one point I was told I couldn’t live in Chicago with poor credit (excuse me?!) and another time I was literally hung up on.
Overall, we ended up using a different agency to find an apartment because in reality we can have less than stellar credit and still live in Chicago.
I was very disappointed with every encounter I had with Spaces. Next time I look for an apartment, it won’t be with them no matter how much better my credit is.

I had a great experience with spaces. My agent Louis did a great job showing me a number of places within my restricted search criteria and I was able to find a place very quickly. I would definitely recommend him and spaces to find you your next place.

I worked with Justin Belotti last week and I couldn’t be more impressed with his service in finding an apartment. I am relocating for work and only had time on a Saturday to view places and needed to make a decision in one day. He called me within an hour of requesting info on a place and was very friendly and helpful. He stayed in constant contact throughout the week and sent me several options leading up to the showings. When we met for the tours, Justin was very friendly, honest, and made me feel comfortable. Apartment hunting is typically a stressful situation, especially on a short timeline, but this was completely painless. I liked how quick and easy Spaces made this happen, and when I look for a new place in a year, I’ll be asking for Justin again.

Great experience with Spaces. They showed me the best places and respected my search criteria. From my agent, Justin, to the whole office staff bravo. You can tell they want to be a great company. We had a small misunderstanding about a fee and they bent over backwards to make sure I was satisfied. Spaces makes the painful rental search much easier.

Just moved to Chicago from Utah. I found Ryan online and he helped me find an apartment that was in a great area for a great price and only a 6 month lease. We arrived in Chicago and the property management company didn’t have the property ready to go. SO WE WERE HOMELESS. Ryan was out of the office but, had Roman Serra help us. HE WAS FANTASTIC. He stayed late and showed us apartments, directed us to a great hostel to stay at and within a couple days he had us set up in a great NEW place.
Ryan was very responsive and friendly and Roman was out of this world helpful for us.
I highly recommend spaces for leasing or buying. They were great.

Ray Colon is the best! He made the impossible, possible. Found us a 3 bed 2 bath brand new for cheaper than our asking price in a great location. He picked us up, drove through a winter storm, and showed us at least 10 places until we fell in love with our new place in Lincoln park. His dedication to find us a spot is amazing and I’m so thankful Spaces helped us out. Recommend Spaces and especially Ray to anyone!

I was looking for new apt and I got to know Ray via a website. HE IS THE BEST and he was so nice!!! He helped me a lotttt to find my apt with great conditions.

My girlfriend and her new roommate were looking for a new apartment and I got to know Ray via a website. He searched the best options for us, not just whatever apartment, and we could feel his kindness while he was shwoing units. When the apartment that my girls were going to take was taken cuz of late documentation, I was so frustrated but he called my girlfriend and worked to help her to look for other options on his DAY-​OFF day. I am really thankful for his careful service. He helped all of us to start an awesome new year! Thank you RAY!!! ;)

Working with Jillian Pobocan was wonderful. I was moving to Chicago from DC without time to visit beforehand, and she made finding an apartment I love very easy, despite all the worries about moving into a place I hadn’t physically seen. She also helped a friend of mine find a place moving to Chicago.

I don’t know why these other awful reviews exist — Candice at Spaces showed me a beautiful apartment in my price point and close to the neighborhood I wanted to be in (Logan Square). I’ve dealt with other management companies (Apartment Management Company, Kass, Peak Properties) while searching for a new apartment for the last few months, and NONE of them came anywhere close to the warmth and transparency of Spaces. Candice even knew and discussed (diplomatically!) the various buildings I had seen before, giving me the inside scoop on why they had bad reviews or why Spaces didn’t work with them. I 100% believe that the employees at Spaces actually get to know the buildings they’re getting people into — but my experience was just one, and I didn’t even end up signing a lease in the building Candice recommended (because I found a sublet in a house and decided I would like that better than the studio Candice had shown me.) At the end of the day, I think these guys are great, and I would send you their way before any of the others.

Didn’t end up renting the apt that we looked at, but the agent was very professional. They were willing to negotiate with the landlord inre: rent.
Showed up on time. Had a snafu with getting into one place becausethe keys the agent had were not working, but that’s the nature of the business.

Dan was great. On time, professional and extremely informative. It was my first day apartment searching and we saw a lot of places in a short amount of time. Being new to the whole process and unsure of exactly what to expect I appreciated Dan’s honestly and patience. He was really easy going and non pressurizing and could tell that he really cares about his clients and enjoys what he does.

Professional. We signed a lease through them. They took care of us and were very nice during this process. They did cancel twice on us before we were able to view the apartment.

After seeing a bunch of places that were not what I was looking for, I called Spaces and met with Morgan on Saturday. She showed me the first apartments that were almost exactly what I was looking for since I started my search. She also gave me a few tips on the application (as an international, I am not very familiar with this kind of process) and signed my lease on Sunday! Morgan is very nice and good at what she does! I will recommend her and Spaces to all the persons I know that are looking for a place!

I am still in shock from the utter idiocy. I had an appointment to see an apartment with one of their agents at 3:30 today. I arrived at 3:22. Melissa, the agent I was supposed to meet with, did not bother coming up to the building to see if I was there — she TEXTED AND EMAILED ME FROM HER CAR A BLOCK AWAY — at 3:26 and 3:37, respectively, asking when I expected to arrive and then saying «I was under the impression we had a meeting today.» WTF? I was standing RIGHT in front of the building for 20 minutes. My phone was dead, so I could not see her text. Meanwhile, Hakim, the agent I’d set up the appointment with, also texted me and left me a voice message, saying the agent was there waiting for me. Where is the logic?
But this isn’t even the end of it. When I got home and charged my phone and saw the texts and heard the voicemail, I called Hakim back and told him I had been there standing in front of the building. He said I must have had the wrong building. I said no it was [the address] and he said it was the correct building, but that the agent had definitely been there. He would not believe me and insisted she had been there.
I responded to the texts from brain-​dead Melissa, and this is when I learned she’d been sitting in her car a block away, texting and emailing me. She said it was «cold» so she didn’t want to come up to the building… First of all, it was 50 frigging degrees out. Secondly, even if it had been –25, it still would not make sense to not come up to or at least DRIVE BY the building to see if I was there. I asked her why it didn’t occur to her to come up to the building before leaving and she just kept repeating that she had texted and emailed me. She could not understand what the problem was since she couldn’t reach me via phone. I’m still not sure she gets it. Seriously, WTF?
Called Hakim again and told him Melissa had admitted to not having come up to the building, and he was unapologetic about the mistake. I asked if I could see the apartment at another time today, and he said there was no more availability today. Well, I have to give an answer about a different apartment today. And I had really wanted to see this one first. And I won’t get to see it. Thanks, Spaces.
If you find yourself redirected to Spaces upon calling a property company, hang up and keep calling the property company until you reach them. Do not risk dealing with these lazy, unprofessional, common-​sense-​lacking people.

This review is specifically of Morgan and Corey. I contacted them Sunday night after seeing a listing on Craigslist after two previous places fell through. Corey was extremely prompt with his reply and sent me additional properties. I met Morgan the following day to see two of the properties… By the end of the day I had met the landlord in person and had an apartment that met all my requirements. There was no pressure from them either which was so nice. They really are a five star team and I would recommend them to anyone.
That being said, I did previously work with a different agent at this company and he was absolutely horrendous. So be careful who you work with and definitely try to get Morgan and Corey as your agents!!!

My experience was not great. First, I reached out to two different people about the same apartment and only received a response several days later after I reached out again. It doesn’t seem like they are too concerned about moving landlords’ properties if they can’t be bothered to promptly respond to interested parties. Then when I saw the place, they immediately took me to sign give up checks and do the application because «there were other showings later that evening» so I thought I overreacted to their ability to serve me as a customer. But no, they just wanted me to cough up the money and once I cleared that process to immediately sign the lease because they pestered me every day, twice a day when I was sick with strep throat and not able to come back to sign the lease.
As soon as I did sign the lease and then asked a follow-​up question — SILENCE. I attempted to follow through on a comment made by the agent when showing me the apartment that I might be able to move in earlier because she knew the tenant and he was great. Yeah, that was just a selling tactic. When I asked about it the response was «ask the landlord.» Great — thanks for making suggestions you won’t follow up on because you got the check and no longer need to sell.
The customer experience lasts from initial contact through move-​in, regardless of when the place gets paid. Spaces clearly doesn’t get that.

I want to give some recognition to Jillian… She is by far the most professional and helpful leasing agent I’ve ever come across!!!
I am very new to Chicagoland, and unfortunately, I was in a situation to where I needed to move very quickly– and I had a busy work schedule. Jillian took the time to keep me updated on how the market was changing for the type of apartment I was looking for. On our appointment day, she was punctual, knowledgable, and organized: we viewed multiple locations. She even took a moment to show me around my prospective neighborhood… Talk about a wow! Due to her diligence and hospitable nature, I was able to make a confident decision about my new environment;

I needed to move in a short period of time and when I requested information regarding an available unit, Julia responded very promptly. Even though that unit ended up not working for me, Julia immediately took it upon herself to help me find a better place.
Within minutes she had pulled up a couple of units that would work for me and we scheduled a showing later that day. She did a great job showing the unit and I told her I wanted to rent it. She immediately contacted the listing agent and I had all necessary application materials sent to me that evening. She also followed up with the listing agent to find out when I would be accepted and kept me up to date throughout the entire process.
Overall Julia was extremely professional and worked fast to help me secure my place in the shortest amount of time possible.
