For 17 years Street Street Journal newspaper of Chicago has continued to break the news and influence teh agenda in Chicago to cover teh city’s streets, neighoborhoods and institutions beyong the news to advocacy in the stories address.

South Street Journal is an activist newspaper that address its stories by taking an active role in the development of main stories it reports on. it has been the princip0le organizer in a variety of initiatives from voter forums and public policy directions. To the point that Columbia University of New York impressed by teh development and teh in-​depth worthiness of reporting by the newspaper are writing a book based on its publisher Ron Carter and the newspaper as it stands in the commitment to the communities building the Black Wall Street Districts as an instrument of more effective press.

History

Established in 1993.

Mr. Carter inherited teh newspaper in 1993 from residents of Chicago Housing authority known as Taylor Residents United Towards Harmony — TRUTH in which the paper was first named.

The bi-​weekly publication, under the puublishing of Mr. Carter included teh busienss development and marketing strategies that went beyond public housing to city wide isssues.

Mr. Carter newspaper background includes work with the Chicago Defender but his roots are based on community organizing that when asked how he views his contribution and productivity to the community, he modestly replied through a famous quote of Mr. Frederick Douglas. «I feel especially bound dto devote my energies to the freedom and elevation of my people. For teh accomp0lishment of this object, I know of no instrument more effective than the press.

It has lead Mr. Carter to be a candidate of teh 17th ward in Chicago, Illinois. Where many have known a direction the newspaper would direct Mr. Carter from his work as a publisher.

Before establishing The South Stereet Journal, Mr. Carter held various roles in community organizer. Reflecting back to his youth as a former street member to an assocate of the Black Panther Party he has become a principle organizer in many social and political directions.

He served as an Account Executive for teh Chicago Defender working on community outreach with direction in editorial and promotions, which followed SSJ.
